Earlier this year, SAAMI accepted the 16th Weatherby cartridge, the .338 Weatherby Rebated Precision Magnum (.338 WBY RPM). Weatherby has now officially introduced the .338 WBY RPM cartridge and announced the availability of ammunition and rifles chambered in this new caliber.

Strike Industries continue expanding their line of firearm accessories featuring their patented Cable Management System (CMS). 9mm pistol caliber carbines are becoming extremely popular in today’s firearm market. There are already a lot of options for you to choose from like the Heckler & Koch MP5, CZ Scorpion Evo III, SIG Sauer MPX, and more. Today the market is receiving yet another AR-9 style pistol caliber carbine with the introduction of Maxim Defense’s new MD-9 PCC.

Judging by the amount of new AR-10 pattern firearms released by American companies lately, I think it is safe to say that this is currently one of the most booming market segments in the industry. Joining the many other AR-10 style rifles and pistols introduced this year is the new Trojan Firearms TROY rifle available in .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor chamberings. Let’s take a closer look.

Last month I was in Germany for a week. While I was there, I stopped by to check out IEA MIL Optics. I know them as one of the premier night vision dealers in Europe. They are an L3, Unity Tactical, EOTech and Wilcox dealer. They have other products not just those and they are a firearms dealer. Their head of workshop, Leon Kurz, gave me a tour of their gun room. They have some very interesting firearms.

Anderson Manufacturing introduced the second generation of their  AM-10 .308 Win guns at NRAAM 2022. Initially, this product line consisted of three rifles – Battle Rifle, Ranger and Marksman XL. A couple of days ago, the company announced the addition of a new member to the AM-10 family of firearms, the AM-10 Gen2 Breacher pistol.

Faxon Firearms has just announced the introduction of two new rifles to their Summit Sentinel lineup of AR-10 pattern firearms. The new Faxon Sentinel rifles are chambered in .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor. Both new rifles will retail for just under $2,000 and come standard with billet aluminum receivers, heavy fluted barrels, Faxon M-LOK handguards, and ambidextrous controls.

The SIG Sauer MCX Virtus has been an extremely configurable and popular 5.56 rifle that really scratches that itch for those who want something other than a standard AR-15. However, when it comes time to do maintenance on the Virtus, many users have complained that when shooting from a barrier or other supported position, the handguard would flex significantly causing your attached laser device to lose zero even when minor pressure is being applied. The new patent pending Arisaka Zero Retention Clamp (ZRC) greatly reduces zero shift to lasers and handguard mounted iron sights with this version being specifically designed for the MCX Virtus equipped with either the SIG Sauer SD handguard or Midwest Industries Suppressor M-LOK handguard.

The new Gen 3 Sabre Tactical sling maintains a lightweight, minimalist profile, with the ability to quickly and easily change attachment methods. This can be useful for those who like to run one sling for most of their guns and are accustomed to multiple types of mounting solutions across all of their long arms. Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many firearms, ammunition, shooting sports, and history! Last week we did a direct comparison of a dedicated integrally suppressed rimfire Integra 15-22 upper and a Form 1 oil filter suppressor. In that article, we discovered that although the integrally suppressed rifle works beautifully, it has a few drawbacks, and the same goes for the oil filter suppressor. Ultimately, my pick would be the Integra 15-22 for its straightforward design and sleek, low-profile suppressor that still allows you to use red dots without a ridiculously high riser. In any case, suppressors only serve to add to the fun when it comes to rimfire guns, at least in my opinion. This week we’re digging back a bit further into the Rimfire Report archives to bring back a perhaps infamous firearm from the series. That’s right, I’ve gone and dunked my Henry AR-7 into the water again. However, this time I didn’t manage to lose one of the most crucial parts to the build (the barrel), and as a result, it almost immediately became covered in rust, as did the magazines. Not happy with the low resistance to such corrosion, I set out last week to better “weatherproof” the Henry AR-7. Today I’ll be sharing this process with you and showing you where I succeeded, and where I could probably have done a bit better with the whole process.

Foundation Stocks, an Oklahoma-based manufacturer of bolt action rifle stocks and accessories, released a new hunting stock called Dominion. This stock borrows some of the design elements from the company’s competition stocks such as the comb angle that was designed to aid in linear tracking of the rifle during recoil, assisting the shooter in seeing the impact. Last February my FFL acquired a large estate sale of firearms. Most of them were mundane Girsans, Bersas, and PSA lowers. There are other guns but the Keltec SU16 box piqued my interest. This is where I discovered the fugliest bullpup. When we opened the box, this abomination was lurking inside. We were so confused by what we saw. I looked at it more closely and decided I should adopt this SU16 bullpup and share it with the world.

The State of New Hampshire is one that I’ve finally made the pilgrimage to. Along with my frequent firearms cohort Hop, we made our first official visit to the Granite State for the grand opening of the new SIG Sauer Experience Center (SEC). Along with those experiences, we were able to get a first look at some new firearms that will be coming out soon and take in the local scenery, culture, and traffic of the general tri-state area of Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. In today’s episode, we talk a bit about our experiences both that the SEC, SIG’s Exeter New Hampshire manufacturing facility, as well as what we like, and don’t like about the various waves that SIG has been making within the firearms industry and what the future might hold for both SIG and the rest of the firearms manufacturing industry.

Kalashnikov USA has just announced and made available their new Kommander rifle, a sporterized version of their already popular KR-103 rifle. Evoking the formerly cheap and easy-to-find unconverted Saiga rifle, it’s obviously targeted at states like California where pistol grips and standard capacity magazines are a no-no.

At SHOT Show 2022, Faxon Firearm in collaboration with Q LLC introduced bolt action and semi-auto firearms chambered in 8.6 Blackout. The 8.6BLK is a .338 caliber cartridge developed by Q and Faxon designed the guns chambered in this cartridge, more importantly, they were able to make barrels with an extremely fast twist rate of 1:3″ required to stabilize the heavy 300-grain bullets of subsonic 8.6BLK loads. Faxon Firearms has recently announced that their Sentinel series of AR-10 pattern semi-auto rifles chambered in 8.6 Blackout is now available for preorder.

Last week we brought you the Knight’s Armament KAC 7.62 QDC legacy rifle suppressor. This week we return to the world of Knight’s with a look at the KAC 5.56 QDC/CQB rifle suppressor on both the 11.5″ carbine length gas and the intermediate length gas KAC SR-15.

A recent poll of 956 silencer owners showed that 69% prefer to use a quick disconnect (QD) mounting system over direct thread mounts. Out of those who responded, 100% of them require a solid, dependable mechanism that is easy to use. Ok, I just made up all of those numbers, but theoretically, it could all be true. Griffin Armament has just announced a new mounting system and muzzle device lineup for rifle suppressors. The Griffin Armament DUAL-LOK mounts use a simple spring-loaded locking ring that has two locked positions separated by a neutral position for installation and removal. I’ve been using the system for about a week and it works as advertised. Give me another week to get both suppressors and a variety of muzzle devices out on the range for a full report.

In this episode of the TFB B-Side podcast, we’ve brought on Dave Kiwacka to talk a bit about the history of the Hi-Point Firearms company. Hi-Point is probably most well known for its very affordable firearms. While they may lack the polish and flashiness of higher-priced firearms, what they lack in that department they more than make up for in raw affordability and durability. TFBTV Executive Producer James Reeves has done some pretty extensive reliability and durability tests on both their handguns and carbines and found them to excel in both categories. In today’s rifle market, there are endless variants of the beloved AR-15.
