Strasser RS 700: Remington 700 Parts Compatible Straight-Pull Rifle

Austrian Strasser is known for making state-of-the-art straight-pull bolt action hunting rifles. One drawback of purchasing rifles like those made by Strasser is that they have limited aftermarket support as most if not all parts are proprietary. AR pattern rifles are relatively new on the Russian market but are already presented in a wide variety of configurations, from pistol caliber carbines to AR-10 style rifles and everything inbetween. Most of them are largely just ARs, nothing special. However, one company, Souz-TM, makes pretty interesting AR-15 style rifles that are chambered in 5.45x39mm and take modified AK-74 magazines. The company offers a DI version of their modified AK-74 mag fed AR called STM-545 and a short stroke piston operated one called STM-415.

Go With The Flow: Yankee Hill Machine Introduces the YHM Turbo T3

Yankee Hill Machine’s latest addition to their suppressor lineup is the new YHM Turbo T3. The YHM Turbo and Resonator series of silencers are arguably one of the best value for performance rifle suppressors on the market. When you factor in weight, length, noise reduction, mounting options and price, the YHM Turbo and Resonator rifle suppressors are consistently at the top of the suggestion list for anyone in the market. And I’d say that even if YHM didn’t sponsor TFB’s Silencer Saturday series.

POTD: Lantac Battle Raven LA-M4 – U.K. Special Ops Prototype Rifle

The year 2022 started with a bang and TBF’s Photo Of The Day has never been so diversified. Today we have Lantac UK‘s picture of their Battle Raven LA-M4, which is said to be using completely new alloys that deliver a 14% strength gain combined with an 8% weight loss. Overall it’s a very good-looking rifle, but I’m a little concerned about the minimal space between the suppressor and the handguard. The Magpul UBR is a great stock, but perhaps not the lightest of them all.

The Rimfire Report: The Stevens Pocket Rifle (Bicycle Rifle)

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many guns, ammunition types, and of course its rich history as a special category of firearms and cartridges. Last week we talked a little bit about the basics of suppressing rimfire pistols and rifles. Suppressors are incredibly useful tools across a broad spectrum of firearms and related uses but I’ve found the most joy in combining the rimfire world with the suppressed one. This week we’re once again diving back into the history books to look at another family of somewhat forgotten rimfire guns – the J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co. Pocket Rifle or colloquial for the time – the Bicycle Rifle. This relatively obscure family of rimfire firearms was chambered in multiple varieties of rimfire cartridges, weighed less than 3 lbs, and was specifically marketed as a self-defense option in the late 19th century. Today we’ll look at the history of the J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co, some of their successes, the origin of the Pocket Rifle, and how it might have actually influenced some of the more modern firearms designs.

TFB Weekly Web Deals 32: Bipods For Your Favorite Rifle

Hello and welcome to TFB Weekly Web Deals 32! Bipods have been around nearly as long as firearms. Even primitive hand cannons made as far back as the 12th century have detailed records showing that these gargantuan blasters made use of simple poles or long sticks to stabilize the shooter’s position prior to the shot. Today we do pretty much the same thing (in some cases literally the same thing) but for most of us the trusty bipod has become a more nuanced piece of equipment with some people looking for the lightest possible option, and others looking for the toughest bipods that the planet has to offer. No matter what you’re after, we’ve compiled a handful of great options that are on sale so hopefully, you can round out your latest build with a simple piece of accurizing equipment that you can take with you anywhere your rifle goes.

SILENCER SATURDAY #253: The 1.375 x 24 Universal Mount EXPLAINED

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the YHM Turbo K and YHM R9 suppressors. Last week we started our journey with the FN America M249S crew-served rifle in 5.56mm and 300BLK as a testing platform for suppressors that are rated for machine gun use. While we wait for the parts needed for the NFA “post sample” conversion, let’s talk about a feature of many modern silencers – the universal mount in 1.375 x 24. I find it is helpful to return to the basics for a deeper understanding of how our gear works. Let’s take a look.

Built Like A Tank: Steyr Monobloc ARMAD Rifle

Steyr Arms introduced their Monobloc series of bolt action rifles back in October of 2018. The main feature that sets this family of rifles apart from the competition is the design of the barrel and receiver which are one-piece, machined together from a single steel bar. The company has recently announced a limited edition version of the Monobloc rifle called ARMAD that features a barrel/receiver made of a steel (32CrMoV12-10, presumably the  Aubert & Duval ARMAD steel) that is used for making the barrels of Leopard 2 A7 main battle tank guns. In other words, the Steyr Monobloc ARMAD rifle is literally built like a tank!
