Bear Creek Arsenal has just launched their new 10mm and .45ACP rifles and pistols as an extension to their side-charging blowback action, which is an evolution of the AR-15 pattern. These new Bear Creek Arsenal rifles and pistols utilize Glock pattern magazines, and unlike the bufferless 9mm versions, the new 10mm and .45s will use a buffered system to reduce felt recoil. The 10mm and .45 rifles and pistols feature a right-side charging handle, and also eject spent brass to the right. Each model is supplied with a free-floated handguard with M-LOK mounting points.

As it happens, I like weird old guns. Ever since I watched the incredible Zulu (1964) a few years ago, I wanted a Martini-Henry. Specifically, a Martini-Henry Mk III, which is the model found in the movie. Mostly. They couldn’t get enough actual Martinis and had to use some Enfields, but it doesn’t matter. The iconic Steyr AUG has been in service with Austria’s Bundesheer since 1977, and now the Austrian Ministry of Defense has announced a major upgrade for the rifles. In a statement, Austria’s Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner said that 14,400 modified Sturmgewehr 77 A1 MOD would be issued and that the value of the contract to Steyr Arms was more than 20 million Euros ($21 million).

About 8,000 people from about 70 countries come to the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg each year, which may look like a low figure but Enforce Tac is a trade fair for professionals from government agencies with security responsibilities and the armed forces only. Next year the exhibition will grow with one more exhibition hall, and one day extra, and we’re already looking forward to 2024. Heckler & Koch has its natural place here, and their booth is always crowded. Last week we covered a little bit of long-range 22LR shooting news, talking about the maximum “reliable” range you can actually shoot 22LR out to. Personally, having participated in Rimfire PRS matches with a variety of rifles, 700-yards does seem a bit far for maintaining practical accuracy with such an anemic cartridge but like many of you probably saw in the video, you can still kind of get in the general vicinity of your target at those ranges but landing a shot even on a large 2×2′ steel plate is a dice roll, even with a very calculated shot.
