Norway has a special relationship with the Heckler & Koch MP7 (from Maschinenpistole 7), as they are most likely the country that has bought most of them. If we trust Wikipedia as a source, the numbers are around 6,500 as it replaced (some of) the HK MP5s. Even some soldiers in the Norwegian Home Guard have it.

For anyone who happens to own a rifle chambered in 450 Bushmaster, Federal Premium has made a Press Release stating exactly what grain weight is likely to perform best for that cartridge. Shooters have their choice of 3 predictable suspects in either 9mm, .40 S&W or .45 ACP. Kansas-based Butler Creek have announced that their ASAP electronic magazine loader is now available for order and shipping. The ASAP is a battery or mains-powered mechanised magazine loader which Butler Creek say can load a 30 round AR mag in about 45 seconds. Currently, the ASAP is only available in .223/ 5.56x45mm.

K-VAR Corp. has announced that the new Brown Bear 7.62x39mm Subsonic ammunition is now available in the US. As in the case of other Brown Bear branded ammunition, the new subsonic 7.62x39mm ammo is also made in Russia by the Barnaul Cartridge Plant. Their plans to introduce these subsonic loads to the US market were announced at SHOT Show 2019.

After over two decades since the introduction of their last cartridge,  John Rigby and Co. have revealed a new hunting cartridge – the .416 Rigby No. 2. This new .416 caliber cartridge is basically the rimmed version of the .416 Rigby. The addition of the rim will make it more suitable for being chambered in double rifles such as the Rigby Rising Bite.

SlapShot USA develops shotgun loads for short-range defensive use. Their ammunition is loaded with very lightweight (for the gauge) projectiles that travel at extremely high muzzle velocities resulting in devastating terminal performance at close ranges. For example, their 12 gauge 193-grain Precision Home Defense (PHD) slugs, which we talked about earlier, reach a muzzle velocity of 3,000 fps. Recently, the company came up with a 12 gauge high-velocity buckshot load that throws 9 pellets of special single aught (#0) buckshot at a muzzle velocity of 2,800 fps.

Hello TFB, and welcome to a new column I’ve devised with the not-so-loyal and sometimes-helpful advice of the TFB Discord entitled “Love, Grampa Fudd” where with input from you readers, the TFB Staff, and members of the Discord, we’ll be tackling some of the most pernicious Fuddlore that still rears its ugly head. Without any further ado, let’s beat to death an argument that we’ve hashed out a million times.

A specialty of local illegal gunsmiths in Indonesia for the last few years has been building these all-encompassing portable solutions for all conceivable encounters. Carrying them has become somewhat a trend with street criminals, the availability of ammunition likely down to the willingness of army personnel to be very accommodating when given the chance to be persuaded. For the discerning customer who wants the best bang for his buck, why advise settling for anything of the lesser, non-bottlenecked variety?

Although the results are noted as unofficial, DSG Inc and  Edwin Sarkissian have just posted a video of what they are calling a World Record Gel Penetration Test. Using DSG’s specially designed bullets that are designed to supercavitate, the below video shows a 7.62×51 projectile passing through 13 feet of clear ballistic gel before hitting a watermelon. As a comparison, a “standard” round was fired into the gel demonstrating a devastating temporary cavity.

Russian companies  Techcrim and Molot Oruzhie have released another new cartridge called .366 Magnum. This new round belongs to the family of cartridges that are designed to be certified as smoothbore slug ammunition. Other cartridges in this line include the  .366 TKM, .345 TK and the 9.6x53mm Lancaster.

The National Rifle Association hosted the NRA Annual Meetings less than a month ago in Indianapolis, Indiana to some door-busting crowds. With the fodder of new guns and cool, freshly-debuted products also comes the annual announcement of the NRA’s Shooting Illustrated magazine’s Golden Bullseye Awards for industry products. Federal Premium‘s Hydra-Shok Deep took home the Golden Bullseye Award for 2019 Ammunition Product of the Year and they were jubilant!

The .350 Legend cartridge was only introduced 4 months ago at SHOT Show 2019 by Winchester, but it is already gaining a lot of momentum as a fan favorite for 2019. In many states, there are admittedly odd restrictions to the cartridges you can use for hunting. Numerous states only allow hunters to use straight-wall cartridges which can be very limiting. This has given rise to new cartridges (think .450 Bushmaster) and adaptations to different platforms (AR-15s chambered in straight-wall cartridges). Federal Premium has a host of new ammunition offerings to satisfy straight-wall cartridge fans with Power-Shok, Non-Typical and Fusion 350 Legend now available.

CCI has rolled out a new flavor of ammo specifically meant to duplicate duty loads, but at a more affordable price-point for practice with their Heavy Blazer Brass 9mm in a 147 Grain FMJ (Full-Metal Jacket). A lot of hollow point offerings for 9mm come in heavier grain weights than traditional, cheap training ammo. It only makes sense to practice with what you’ll carry, but nobody wants to go broke shooting hundreds of hollow-points. So to replicate the point of impact of a heavier bullet and its slightly different recoil impulse, CCI has introduced this heavy Blazer Brass offering.

Geeks Gadgets and Guns, a gun-related podcast website, has published on their social media pages a photo from an ongoing LFD Research project depicting cartridges loaded with saboted bullets. Well, at first glance, I didn’t see anything extraordinary because these cartridges looked like Remington Accelerator replicas with different bullets. But when I read the caption of the picture I was amazed to learn that they actually loaded the saboted .224 caliber bullets into .300 RUM (.300 Remington Ultra Magnum) cases and managed to achieve muzzle velocities of “over one mile per second“. That’s over 5,280 fps or 1,609 m/s!
