Subsonic Ammunition That Won't Cycle the Action: Good or Bad?
About a week ago, JMac Customs has published a video where they were shooting a suppressed AK chambered in 5.45x39mm. The standard supersonic ammunition performed as expected, decreasing the sound to a hearing safe level. However, they were also shooting Detroit Ammo Co. subsonic 5.45x39mm ammunition which wasn’t powerful enough to cycle the action rendering the gun to a manual repeater. My first reaction was that this ammunition is worthless for a semi-auto gun. However, later I thought about a situation where this kind of ammunition can actually be useful. Let’s watch the mentioned video first.
[NRA 2018] Underwood Ammunition
One of the more interesting booths I came across at the 2018 NRA Expo was UNDERWOOD AMMUNITION. Based out of Sparta Illinois, they produce over a million rounds a month. They focus on pistol ammunition but have some great rifle rounds. I took a particular interest in the “Penetrator” round, a creation coming out of a partnership with Lehigh Defense™. The solid copper round is not designed to expand, but to penetrate and disperse energy into the target tissue. Another excellent design feature is a minimal surface on the barrel. This leads to less resistance, a faster bullet, and a decrease in barrel wear. The Underwood Ammunition “Penetration” round promises a 100% increase in permanent wound cavity. This compares to expanding bullets, even after the penetration of barriers. In addition, they promise reliable and consistent magazine feeding.
Beginners Guide To Reloading, Part 1: Required Equipment
Welcome to our first post on the basics of reloading. The good people at LYMAN have teamed up with TFB to help create a guide for those interested in reloading. With a relatively small upfront investment, you can reload rounds for pennies on the dollar. With a few fundamentals and a little experience, you can be loading a specific load for a specific barrel and be getting consistent accuracy, again for pennies on the dollar.

[SOFIC 2018] Caseless Telescoping Non-Lethal Ammunition
Accurate-Mag, a division of Of BML Tool in Monroe, Connecticut announced at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) that their caseless telescoping Non-Lethal ammunition completed government testing. Tested on both pistol and rifle platforms, the ammunition can be adjusted to three different power levels depending on the target range. The Caseless Telescoping Non-Lethal System (CTNLS) held 92% accuracy from 10-50 yards with a red dot equipped pistol and 76% accuracy from 40-80 yards using a 1-6X optic equipped M4 carbine.
KABOOM REPORTS: Egyptian Surplus In A Kel-Tec Edition
Before we take a look at this week’s edition of KABOOM REPORTS, I just want to make you all aware that I am not placing blame or fault on either the firearm nor the ammunition seen here in this user-submitted event. Without getting too technical- sh*t happens – and without being a first-hand observer or a materials engineer, no one can determine the cause of any malfunction.

POTD: Do Bullets Fly Flat Or Do They Nosedive At Distance?
This started off with a Facebook post shared by my friends. A woman claims a .223 fired was from an “assault rifle” and the bullet penetrated her house. It went through some walls and the crib for her baby stopped the bullet. Well my friends and I were discussing the validity of this and bullet path was brought up. Do bullets fly flat or do they change pitch like a football?

SIG Sauer has announced the addition of SIG 365 9mm loads to their ammunition line. The new ammo comes loaded with two 115 grain bullet options: FMJ or V-Crown (JHP). The SIG 365 ammunition is designed to perform best in the subcompact pistols which have relatively short barrels.
COWBOY UP – Action Shooting On Horseback
I have seen videos of cowboy action shooting, which is a form of 3 gun using cowboy themed firearms. But I did not know there are people shooting while on horseback. I have certainly seen archery competitions on horseback but there is a Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association for people who like shooting on horseback.
[NRA 2018] G2Research Adds Long Colt and ACP to Telos Revolver Round Capability
G2 Research originally released it’s Telos line of ammunition in 2017, after the popularity of the RIP fragmenting ammo offered by the company for semi-auto pistol use. The Telos line was originally designed for revolver use, but proved to be effective enough to release in semi-auto calibers as well. During NRA 2018, G2 Research announced several new calibers becoming available for revolvers in addition to 12ga shotgun shells. G2 Research plans on taking self-defense to a whole new level.
NEW: 6mm Creedmoor From Prime Ammunition
Prime Ammunition has been hinting at a new offering to their rifle ammunition lineup for over a year now. Finally, this week they have confirmed it will be the 6MM Creedmoor. While their 6.5 Creedmoor factory offering has been extremely popular with competitive shooters in the NRL and PRS competitions, most of the competitors that are not shooting factory ammo have migrated over to the 6mm projectiles from the 6.5, as they can be pushed faster and produce less recoil, so it is no surprise that Prime would want to cater to this newest trend of lighter faster bullets.

Details Emerge on IS Craft Produced Launcher from Mosul Fight
Conflict Armament Research has recently published a short but very comprehensive report detailing the craft produced anti-armor/personal launchers that we reported on in May of 2017. The findings that CAR has come up with are quite revealing about the launchers themselves, in addition to how the terrorist group conducted itself through manufacturing armaments and in utilizing these at the front. I would highly encourage readers to look through the original report, but if you don’t have time, we’ll highight some of the key findings here.
