[SHOT 2019] Sig Sauer Range Day – Copperhead, Canebrake, Rattler

On the Sunday before this year’s SHOT Show, TFB and TFBTV were invited to attend the Sig Sauer Range Day at the Clark County Shooting Complex about 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas. The complex itself was incredible, with bays that catered to every type of shooter imaginable. Sig had arranged for a type of ‘Opening Ceremony’ that was an awesome display of former special operations guys dropping in via parachute and assaulting a group of autonomous motorized targets. The MCX-outfitted unit was backed up by a team of former soldiers and law enforcement officer from the Sig Sauer academy. The sweet display of force lasted about 20 minutes followed by an analysis of the the guns, gear and tactics used by each of the operators.

True Velocity Partners with General Dynamics on US Army's Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle

Composite munitions manufacturer True Velocity has announced their partnership with General Dynamics – Ordnance & Tactical Systems in working to win the US Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapon system program. Back in July 2018, TFB reported that General Dynamics was one of five manufacturers to be awarded prototype development contracts as part of the Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle program.

Ukrainian FORT Launches New Handgun Ammunition Manufacturing Line

The Ukrainian  Ministry of Internal Affairs has published a news release telling about the visit of Arsen Avakov, head of the ministry, to FORT company where a new handgun ammunition line was launched. According to Mr. Avakov, this new production line will allow to completely fulfill the demand of the Ukrainian Border Guard, National Guard, Police, and other law enforcement agencies.

Upping the Ante! Hornady's Frontier Cartridge Barrel with 13,889 Rounds of 5.56 NATO

Hornady must have noticed the barrels of ammunition Federal Premium recently produced. The barrels that Federal now sells are either 5.56 NATO with 12,500 rounds or 7.62 NATO with 7,500 rounds! Either in direct competition or just keeping in line with the marketplace, Hornady now has a Frontier Cartridge Barrel with even more 5.56 NATO rounds in it with 13,889 total! While that is an odd number, for sure, you are getting slightly more than the Federal barrel.

US Department of Defense Awards Hornady with Contract to Supply 300 PRC Ammo

Hornady has announced through a Press Release on their website on December 11th that they have been awarded an ammunition contract from the U.S. Department of Defense to supply an undisclosed amount of their 300 PRC ammo for the long-range sniper program. New SIG Sauer M17 9mm +P Ammunition Line

SIG Sauer has launched a new 9mm +P ammunition line named after the US Military’s new pistol – M17. The M17 9mm ammunition is currently available loaded with either an FMJ or V-Crown JHP projectiles. TFB Review: Australian Outback Ammo-Accurate and Temperature Neutral -Fair Dinkum!

TFB Review: Fort Scott Munitions TUI Ammo Part 2

In part 1 of this review of Fort Scott Munitions’ TUI (Tumble upon impact) Solid copper spun (brass in the case of the 5.56) ammunition, we took a look at their short range offerings in 9mm and .300 Blackout.  To reiterate:  These rounds are designed to tumble upon impact with soft tissue and create wound trauma via hydrostatic shock while retaining over 95% of the original weight of the projectile.  While the .300 Blackout and 9mm offerings performed well, Fort Scott also sent me some 5.56 and .308 cartridges to try out.

Ballistic Advantage is closing out one of their products, a stainless steel AR-15 barrel for 5.56. It is a pistol-length barrel at only 7.5″, and has a QPQ corrosion resistant finish. The barrel’s twist is 1:7, and it does have a threaded muzzle. TFB Review: Fort Scott Munitions TUI Ammo Part 1

Russia to Build an Ammunition Plant in Armenia

A Russian group of companies called “Promishlenniye Technologii” (“Промышленные Технологии”, means “Industrial technologies”) which includes the ORSIS arms factory, as well as the  Tula and Ulyanovsk ammunition plants, has announced that they have been negotiating with the Armenian government officials concerning the building of a new ammunition plant in Armenia. The announcement was published on the website of ORSIS arms company.

Safety Check: Keeping AR Calibers Separate

.429 DE – New Cartridge for Desert Eagle Pistols
