CRPA Files Lawsuit Challenging California Ammunition Sale Restrictions
On Thursday, April 26, the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA), with support from the National Rifle Association, filed an important lawsuit in the U.S.District Court for the Southern District of California challenging the state’s new restrictions on the sale and transfer of ammunition. These restrictions, enacted in 2016 as part of a series of bills and Proposition 63, require all ammunition sales and transfers to be conducted via face-to-face transactions at California licensed firearm dealers or licensed ammunition vendors. And beginning July 1, 2019, all ammunition purchasers will be required to pass a background check before taking delivery of any ammunition.

Federal Premium Bolsters American Eagle Rifle Ammunition Offerings
Federal Premium is always looking for new categories, calibers or cartridges to provide shooters with more ammunition. Not every new introduction has to be a reinvention of the wheel though. Sometimes just keeping up with what’s hot can be a difficult enough task by itself. What’s hot right now is absolutely 6.5 Creedmoor, the darling caliber for long-range shooters; .224 Valkyrie, which has screamed onto the scene as fast as the cartridge itself; and .223 Remington which may never fall out of favor because of the popularity of modern sporting rifles. All of these calibers are given some love through the American Eagle line-up of ammo with some new grain weight offerings.

Blackwater Ammunition is a new company established by Eric Prince, the founder of Academy (Blackwater), James Fenech, ammunition and arms distributor, and Nicola Bandini who also is (was?) the CEO of Arsenal Firearms. The launch of this new company was officially announced during IWA 2018 exhibition. Blackwater Ammunition is located in Malta. It is a subsidiary of another Maltese company called Precision Ballistic Manufacturing.

Any firearms content that can be promoted showcasing shooting sports in the Olympics is a positive for the industry in general. Federal is using some of it’s resources to bring attention by sponsoring USA Shooting for supplying US athletes. Other ammunition companies have done other awareness campaigns like Winchester (who, interestingly, had been a previous sponsor of the topic of this press release).

NEW RELEASE: Blackwater Ammunition Universal Suppressor System BWS-1
Much like power adapters for small electronic devices, each silencer manufacturer has their own mounting system that is rarely compatible with competing companies products. While each system has its positives and negatives, I believe that consumers secretly want uniformity in their suppressor attachment systems. Blackwater Ammunition is unveiling the new BWS series of silencers that is capable of attaching to standard bird cage flashiders, giving shooters the ability to swap between hosts easily and quickly.

TFB REVIEW: Detroit Ammunition 12 Gauge Subsonic
When you think of firearm suppressors and subsonic ammunition, I’m guessing that a 12 Gauge scattergun is the furthest thing from your mind. Reducing the report of a shotgun to acceptable levels is fraught with challenges. A gigantic bore diameter, wadding and shot cups, suppressor availability, barrel length considerations and limited ammo availability all weigh on the practicality of muffling the report of a shotgun. Luckily, companies like Detroit Ammunition have been coming up with options for shooters who want to take their 12ga blasters in a different direction.

MAKE YOUR OWN LUCK – 5 Things To Help You Be A Better Shooter
The last time I professionally celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day, my friends and I used a Super Soaker water cannon to “hyper-drink” Guinness by the pint. And even though that may have be 20+ years ago, I can’t in good conscience recommend such irresponsible activities to anyone outside of your worst enemies. However, I can recommend some gear that, with dedicated practice on your part, can help you to become a better shooter. Get lucky this weekend? Nope, you make your own luck my friend. Wait, that just sounds wrong.
