Nammo to Acquire Chemring's Florida Manufacturing Facility

Nammo Group, the international aerospace and defense company headquartered in Norway, has announced that they will be enhancing their US manufacturing base by acquiring an ordnance manufacturing subsidiary of UK-headquartered Chemring Group. Chemring Ordnance runs a plant in Perry, Florida which produces a range or ordnance including fuzes, 40mm ammunition and other ammunition components. Chemring Group’s other arms specialise in electronic countermeasures and sensors.

Freedom Munitions & X-Treme Bullets Are Now Under New Ownership

The Freedom Munitions and X-Treme Bullets companies have both been purchased by Dan Kash after a lengthy bankruptcy process.  TFB reported about the initial bankruptcy filing by Freedom Munition’s parent company, HMT, in June of 2018.  In the video below, Dan explains his history in the firearms and ammunition business, he also explains that some of the employees have stayed on to continue and that they want to earn back your business.

Recall Alert: Accurate Recall Issued on 2495, 4064 and 4350 Powders

US Army, USMC and British Army Collaborate on Developing Lightweight Ammo

The US Army, US Marine Corps and British Army are collaborating on developing new lightweight small arms ammunition. In recent years there has been an increasing interest in hybrid ammunition, especially those using polymer case components. Todd Townsend, supervisor of the research, development, test and evaluation for the Product Manager for Small Caliber Ammunition recently gave an update on US efforts to develop lightweight ammunition. He explained the Army, USMC and UK are working together to evaluate and refine lightweight ammunition including 5.56x45mm, 7.62x51mm and .50 BMG.

Berger Bullets Announces New 85.5 Grain Projectile in .22 Caliber

Berger Bullets, a member of the Capstone Precision Group, announced the release of their new .22 caliber projectile.  Weighing in at 85.5 grains it is the second heaviest bullet Berger offers for that caliber. It’s lighter weight allows it to be pushed a little faster than the 90 gr offering as well as allowing it to achieve better stabilization in slower twist rates.  Additionally, the hybrid ogive should help to make it less jump sensitive than the older VLD (Very Low Drag) design.

Saboted Buckshot Loads for Rifle Cartridges !?

Russian ammunition manufacturing company  Techcrim has introduced a saboted buckshot load for the 9.6x53mm Lancaster cartridge which they co-designed with Molot Oruzhie. This cartridge is developed to be chambered in oval bore (a.k.a. Lancaster rifled) firearms to make them legally considered shotguns in Russia. However, despite the Lancaster rifling is considered smoothbore in Russia, it actually imparts a spin to the projectile, which means if these saboted buckshot loads work in 9.3x56mm Lancaster cartridge, they should work for rifle cartridges, too.
