Today, I’ll share my top 10 picks for home defense rifles. All 10 suggestions are actual rifles by legal definition, thereby inclusive for friends of ours living in places where SBRs don’t exist and pistol-braced shorties are regulated into single-shot paperweights. PSA seems to be running on a “give them what they want” philosophy, polling customers on social media and developing products based on their responses. This strategy stirred the pot well at SHOT Show 2024 in January, with crowds flocking to see a number of new releases and concepts, including the .308 JAKL, STG, and the PSA X5.7. Another new release receiving notable fanfare was their Soviet Arms Krink, which hit the market one month later with the 5.56 variant. Now, only six months later, Palmetto State Armory is announcing the Krink in 300BLK, and it seems there has been more thought put into this variant than a simple barrel swap. Let’s take a look.

Hornady’s Advanced Rifle Cartridge family has a new member. The .338 ARC joins the 6mm and .22 ARC in the lineup of AR-compatible calibers. Unlike those longer range calibers, the .338 ARC is more akin to the .300 Blackout, but beefier.

Ever since Franklin Armory unveiled its Binary Trigger kit for the Glock 17, the company has been inundated with calls and messages from customers demanding equal treatment for the Glock 19, which should come as no surprise as it is arguably the most popular carry gun in America. Franklin Armory has responded by announcing the availability of its patented Binary Firing System (BFS) for your Gen3 Glock 19.

Palmetto State Armory is best known for being a source of affordable AR-15s. But at SHOT Show 2023, PSA unveiled the Sabre line of “duty grade” guns. They included features normally seen on high-end rifles, and PSA promised improved quality control without breaking the bank. I have had the chance to put 1,000 rounds on one of the Sabre-15 rifles, and it seems like PSA has made good on these promises.

Even if a gun is sold out, never to be made again in that style, they can be highly suitable for our Photo Of The Day. In fact, it probably only makes them even more attractive for us to run. Such is the case for the Daniel Defense Limited Series “SANDSTORM”.

In   Part 1 of this article, I wrote about the beginning of the Kalashnikov machinegun story, Part 2 was dedicated to the bureaucratic hoops he initially had to jump through, Part 3 described the technical triаls and competition between the Kalashnikov and his rivals, Nikitin and Sokolov. Part 4 was about troop trials. In this chapter, I will talk about the end of the trials and their results.

Years ago we did a Photo Of The Day with Winkler Knives, so with regards to the great quality of their product images it’s only fair to run one again. The EDC above is probably too hardcore for the local legislation where I live, with a SIG Sauer pistol, two push daggers and some mace. But I’d probably get away with the Multitasker Tool, a flashlight and the lighter, until they ban those as well for no good reason.
