Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! Welcome back to another installment of Silencer Saturday. This week we are taking a trip down memory lane with the long-discontinued YHM Maxim Woodsman .22 LR suppressor. It’s an interesting design, albeit a little dated. Let’s look at this silencer and what it has to offer.

In our pursuit as shooters for the flattest, most stable, lowest recoiling, most accurate, and best handgun possible, we try anything and everything to achieve our goal. This can present itself through different metal alloy firearms, extendo magazines, weapon-mounted lights, red dots, and all manner of tweaks so we can get on a podium or simply kick our range buddy’s butt. One of my favorite pistols to shoot in the last couple years as I’ve joined the 2011 cult has been the Springfield Armory 1911 DS Prodigy. The Prodigy (a 1911 double-stack) affords you a lot of good features like all 2011-style handguns. They are beefy (fill your grip completely), heavy (the weight mitigates recoil), and are modern enough for all of your favorite add-ons (red dot, flashlight, extendos, etc). Moreover, being an all metal frame and slide, you can craft these pistols to tighter tolerances than their polymer counterparts for a smoother operation. In sum, there is a reason why someone “spiked the punch” at the gun range with a dash of 2011, and everyone is drinking the Kool-Aid now.

Long before you had to put up with my ramblings on TFB, I was - and still am - someone running a gun store as my day job. These are from the Sniper Race Finale, which is the last event where the competitors have to cover 10 kilometers and 6 different shooting ranges. We’re looking at the Swedish Sniper Team in their M/90 camouflage pattern. What’s unusual is that they’re using the Colt Canada C20 which is not part of their normal arsenal. It could be a Danish rifle, on loan for the event? Another oddity is to use a normal mount on the C20, and Cantilever on the M10, when the other way around would make much more sense.

Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we talked about the differences of carry guns between my father and me which shows several generational changes.
