Trijicon ACOGs now with (X)M-193 BDC Reticles

Trijicon has (finally!) released ACOG sights specifically calibrated for M-193 55 grain rounds out of common 16” barrels. The new scopes are based on the “chevron” reticle to be zeroed at 100 yards and with BDC markings for 300-800 meters. Horizontal hashes are calibrated for 19” (average width of human torso) at the various yardages for easy range estimation.

BUIS Are Very Important

Mark Farage is no novice shooter. Mark checked the screws of his RMR to ensure they were properly torqued before he took a course with Ronin Combat Strategies. But during a 6 shot string drill, the screws flew off and so did his RMR. Without missing a beat, Mark managed to continue the drill with his BUIS and fired 6 shots in 1.78 secs.

A Day at Trijicon

Last Fall, I was invited by Trijicon to their writer event at their training facility just south of the Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. The morning session was mostly product presentation with a focus on the Trijicon ACOG family, the new battery powered reflex sights such as the RMR mini red-dot and the full size Trijicon SRS. We headed toward the range after a quick lunch.

Trijicon SRS

Famous for their ACOG combat gunsights, Trijicon also makes a series of reflex sights for small arms. The first of those is the Trijicon Reflex with the dual-illumination and a 24mm objective lens. Next was the Trijicon TriPower with 30mm objective and the addition of battery power to the fiber optic and tritium illumination. Recently, a new larger 42mm objective lens model was added to the Trijicon Reflex line. While all three are robustly built, however, I am not enthusiastic about the dark green lens color or their illumination systems.

Trijicon has announced thier first VCOG riflescope. The VCOG (Variable Combat Optical Gunsight) is a zoom scope, in contrast to their famous  ACOG line of combat scopes which have a fixed magnification. The first VCOG will be a 1-6x power with a 24mm objective lens. A range of reticles will be available with bullet drop compensation for the 5.56mm, .300 BLK and 7.62x51mm cartridges. The reticle is situated on the first frontal plane (meaning the reticle zooms in proportion to the target as you increase magnification).

Trijicon ACOG with 300 Blackout Reticle

Trijicon is now making the ACOG 3×30 with a special 300 Blackout reticle.  The new reticle is designed to be sighted in with supersonic ammo, with lines in the reticle representing various hold over points for known distances.  Two small triangles are the aiming points for subsonic ammo at 50 and 100 meters.  Sighting in the optic and using the marked hold over points on the reticle is obviously dependent on ammo selection and barrel length.
