TorkMag 20rd Glock Mags and AR Lower Conversion Kits | SHOT 2017

TorkMag showed off a few new products at the 2017 SHOT Show. They debuted a new 20 round Glock magazine as well as a conversion kit for the AR-15 that allows you to use Glock mags. If you don’t remember TorkMag, a few years back Patrick R did a review of the Torkmag-50 where it came apart during the review. TorkMag redeemed themselves in our second chance review when they improved upon their design from a two piece mold (which split) to a one piece mold and the mag functioned reliably.

GRAPEVINE: US Army Pays $207 Per Pistol to SIG SAUER for M17 Modular Handguns

With SIG’s recent win of the $580 million dollar contract for the US Army’s Modular Handgun System pistol, many are asking just how the American outlet of the Swiss-German SIG Sauer could have won such a large contract, especially against what many perceived was the strongest contender, Glock. Some saw the very text of the MHS solicitation as being biased towards SIG’s entry (which I do not think is true), while others assumed some backdoor deal must have occurred.

OPINION: The DOD Should Have Picked GLOCK

Forget about modularity and the other Army requirements for the newly announced M17 sidearm for a moment.  Do you mean to tell me that the DOD just spent $580M on a pistol that has barely been on the market for three years? A gun that will be carried by US soldiers for at least a decade, more likely two or three, that has only been issued to a handful of law enforcement agencies in the United States? (Love ya Hooksett, NH Police!)

Glock Hexmag | SHOT 2017

Hexmag is expanding now into a polymer Glock magazine. No word just yet on price. But it will be competitive with what is out there now. So I suspect it will be close to the Magpul PMAG and ETS magazine. One feature the Hexmag has over the PMAG is the witness holes for how much ammo is in the magazine.

If you know what the Roland Special is then you know that it is considered the ultimate handgun for gunfighters in some circles. CMC Drop-in GLOCK Trigger | SHOT 2017

FULL CONCEAL Redux | SHOT 2017

Just about two months ago I wrote about FULL CONCEAL, a Las Vegas-based company designing 80% GLOCK lowers – with a slight twist. In that that post, I took an admittedly “harsh but fair” stance on their ideas concerning spare magazine placement on the light rail of a pistol. As it turns out, the FULL CONCEAL team is here at the 2017 SHOT Show and I was lucky enough to grab them for a few minutes and talk about the newest versions of their frames.

Smith & Wesson's M&P M2.0 – Third Generation Smithplastic | SHOT 2017

The latest wave in polymer-framed, striker-fired wunderpistols has reached SHOT Show 2017 Industry Day at the Range, in the form of the Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0. In truth, the M2.0 is a very modest update to the M&P, introducing modest improvements to the controls and grip texture of the original M&P, as well as the now-trendy lightened striker trigger. I am not a big fan of this style of trigger, however popular it has become, as I like my pistols to have very crisp, modestly heavy (~7lb) pulls. However, a lot of people seem to like it, and if you are one then we can include the M&P 2.0 into the rotating list of polymer wondernines that offer this feature.

CMC Triggers Corp Teases a GLOCK Trigger

CMC Triggers has teased a brand new GLOCK trigger product on their Facebook social media page. The teaser pics of the trigger indicate a flat trigger design with the standard GLOCK-style, inside-the-trigger safety tab. The CMC trigger has a unique 90 degree kick out at the bottom of the trigger designed for “speed and leverage”, according to CMC. CMC has refused to leak the trigger weight numbers, but they claim a marked improvement over the factory GLOCK trigger. The actual trigger part of the CMC GLOCK trigger is obviously machined metal as is the safety tab, as opposed to the stock GLOCK polymer trigger and safety.

POTD: Weapon Mounted Weapon

This classic image of John Noveske had me wonder what he is holding. I found out it is a Mako product called the UTA (Universal Tactical Attachment). The giant hook has an integrated picatinny mount so you can mount the Glock onto the rail of a long gun. It is an adapter that plugs into a Gen 3 Glock grip. It reminds me of the ENDO Glock stock adapter but it does not have any upper support on the beavertail. So I imagine the Glock will move a bit under recoil and muzzle climb.
