The USMC have officially adopted Glock’s 19M and designated it the M007. The new concealed carry pistol is being issued to Marine Corps Criminal Investigators first.

I have seen cutaway Glocks only in pictures. When I met up with my friend Corey at his house he showed me his cutaway Glock 19. I had to borrow it and take a closer look at it.

It is easy to forget, what with all the hubbub about SIG’s selection for M17, Glock’s protest, and SIG’s subsequent recall, that the M17 program was intended to procure a “total system package”, not just a handgun. This meant, besides the handgun, ammunition, magazines, spares, accessories, holsters, and eventually optics and suppressors as well. While much ink has been spilt, and many glam photos taken of the XM17 and M17 MHS handguns themselves, we have not yet seen or heard very much about the ammunition it is intended to fire. From second-place finisher Glock, we have already seen the Federal-engineered Enhanced Barrier Ammunition. Partnered with SIG for the competition was ammunition heavyweight Winchester/Olin, and so it was reasonable to expect their entry to be something based on Winchester’s existing product line. At the 2017 Association of the United States Army annual meeting, that expectation was confirmed:

MBX Extreme has introduced two Glock magazine extensions (Mini and Mega) designed for pistol caliber carbines. The main market for these products is the competition shooting community, but of course, they can be used for any other use, too.

Stealth Gear USA is a company that started in 2012 that focuses on developing and producing holsters for handguns. Their VentCore holsters are the base of the company, and the technology offers for instance ventilated laser-cut ports to allow breathability of the holster to keep you cooler and drier.

Texas Machine Gun & Ordnance, a firearms and explosives manufacturer, importer, and exporter in Dickinson, TX, announced last Saturday that they have imported from Australia what they believe to be the only Glock 17A in the United States. According to the company’s Facebook post:

Saber 5 Systems CLUB (Configurable Locking Utility Baseplate) system is a Glock magazine floor plate replacement with multiple attachment options. The mounting system simply replaces the factory floor plate and allows attaching a finger extension, finger loop, glass breaker or enlarged baseplates. It is designed to make the same magazines configurable for multiple roles – competition, concealed carry, duty etc.

Brownells, the go-to shop for gunsmithing supplies, recently began to sell its own third generation Glock pistol slides (not compatible with Gen4 or newer guns.) The first offering from the company was a slide with a cut for a Trijicon RMR sight. Additional slides have been added that do not have that cut and are designed for traditional “iron” sights alone.

SIG Sauer certainly didn’t waste its opportunity to show off its win of the Modular Handgun System contract at the 2017 Association of the United States Army annual meeting, bringing not XM17 MHS prototypes, but full-fledged M17 and M18 MHS production (or possibly pre-production) pistols to the show.

This summer Glock has emerged as the winner of not only one, but two very substantial contract victories to supply the Philippines National Police and the Armed Forces. The first contract was awarded in June of this year to supply the Filipino National Police Forces with Model 17 Gen 4 9x19mm NATO handguns.

Unlike previous Glock models where triggers and trigger bars can be more or less switched between models of the same caliber and frame, Glock changed some of the design features, most prominently being the ambidextrous slide lock which therefore changes the shape of the trigger bar in the Gen 5, in addition changing the trigger housing. That means that previous trigger designs made for any of the generations beforehand will not work in the Gen 5. This applies to previous Apex triggers made for earlier Gen Glocks as well. Ever since the Gen 5 was publicly released, the company has been working on and testing the compatibility of various parts in addition to prototyping their own. One part that has fit from earlier Generations is their Apex Failure Resistant Extractor.
