Taurus brought an end to the PT700 series at NRA 2018 with the introduction of the PT111 G2s and G2c single stack pistols. At the same time, the Raging Hunter announced at SHOT Show earlier this year made it’s first appearance to the general public.

Beretta expanded the APX line with the addition of the APX Centurion at NRA 2018. Built to be a comfortable medium between the full and compact versions in the APX family, the Centurion is more concealable than the larger version, but with the functionality of the compact.

Vista Outdoor has been awarded a Training Ammunition Contract from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) along with several other government agencies that have not been named at this time. Federal Premium will be the company who specifically fills that contract for a 9mm handgun training round.

Ed Brown has announced the addition of the new Executive Commander pistol to their Elite series of custom 1911 pistols. The company has also updated the Kobra Carry pistol. Let’s take a quick look at each of these handguns.

When you’re not a Glock or a Colt shooter – Quarter Circle 10 once again proves why they offer more PCC lower styles than anyone else on the market. In their most recent offering, QC10 introduces the S226 stripped lower receiver, engineered for use with Sig Sauer P226 magazines.

At Big 3 East we met the people of Stern Defense. There they unveiled their AR-15 mag adapters to turn your AR lower into a pistol caliber carbine. They have adapters for Glock and M&P 9mm/.40. They also have adapters for M&P45 and Beretta 92. I was impressed with the adapters but found one minor issue. The lack of a flared magwell. I told them that most people who use pistol caliber carbines are competitive shooters and a flared magwell is a must for faster reloads. They took my advice and in just a month they have come out with their MAG-AD FLARE.

Walther announced at the US Concealed Carry Association Expo (USCCAE) that the first batch of PPS RMSc semi-auto handguns were available and that the first batch of pistols should begin shipping to dealers as early as the last week of April, 2018.

Many shooters are aware that the B&T GHM9 was initially not feeding hollow points – as designed, it met the EU need of using strictly FMJ. However, B&T listened to the American market and user requests to resolve the issue have been met with a new update. The ability to feed hollow-points was particularly important to me: I purchased a GHM9 for my wife to use as a home defense platform. To deliver the proper ballistics and kinetic energy on target hollow points were a necessity.

As our regular readers like remind me, I am a staunch supporter of Austrian polymer firearms. I believe the term is “fanboy”, although I happen to think that term is a bit derogatory – “fan stud” is more appropriate. On top of my previous preference of pistols, TFB allows writers access to a wide variety of firearms, which means it takes a lot to impress us. As good as every most new releases are, many of the current handguns are just variations on a theme. But Sig Sauer really has created something special with the new P365 polymer pocket pistol, enough that it makes me the want to question the beginnings of the universe itself.

CMMG has announced the addition of a new series of short barreled rifles (SBR’s) and AR Pistols that will be known as the BANSHEE line.  The BANSHEE’s sleek new design sports the shortest barrels CMMG offers in 9mm, .45 ACP, 300 BLK and .22 Long Rifle.  This ultra-compact and lightweight platform is extremely portable, making the BANSHEE a great option for close protection, home defense, plinking, competition shooting or any other application that benefits from the reduced size.

Federal Ammunition is pleased to announce a new addition to its full line of Syntech handgun ammunition. Look for Syntech in a variety of popular loads, including the new 124-grain 9mm Luger.  Adam wrote about the initial offerings, last fall, to include: .40 S&W (165 grain), .45 ACP (230 grain), and 9mm (115 grain).

When I saw the list of manufacturers attending Big 3 East Media Event, I did not know who Stern Defense was. I haven’t heard of them. I did a quick Google search and what I saw piqued my interest. They make an AR Glock Mag Adapter. We have seen Torkmag and ATI have their own Glock mag adapter however I have not seen the Torkmag in production and ATI was announced at SHOT Show. I could have sworn Strike Industries had a 3D printed prototype just before SHOT Show but I can’t seem to find it at the moment. Stern Defense is the new kid on the block. They only started making their Glock Mag Adapters four months ago. And not only do they have an adapter for Glock mags, they have come out with a mag adapter for Beretta 92 magazines, Smith & Wesson M&P and now M&P45.
