Recently a very burnt VSS 9x39mm marksman’s rifle turn up on a Ukrainian auction site. The remains of the rifle are described as a trophy and photographs show most of the major metal components of the weapon including its bolt, main spring, receiver and suppressor shroud. The weapon’s stock, plastic forend and top cover aren’t present, however, the cover is probably lost and the stock/pistol grip and forend are probably destroyed by fire. The remains of the metal tab for the sling are still attached to the sling loop.

Every time a major firearm manufacturer releases their own suppressor, my overall happiness and outlook on life get just a little bit better. The only way we are going to move short barrel rifles, short barrel shotguns, and silencers into the mainstream gun community, is through the support of the large gun companies making them just as available as pistols and long guns. FN America has just announced the release of the FN RUSH 9Ti, a 9mm pistol suppressor that is designed to fight the blowback of gas towards the shooter’s face.

Brownells have released a couple of new flash hiders that are compatible with the Dead Air Silencers Keymount quick suppressor attachment system. The two models are a classic birdcage and three-prong flash hiders merged with the KeyMo interface. These Brownells Keymount flash hiders are compatible with the Dead Air Sandman suppressors, as well as most Keymount compatible suppressors.

Rear folding Picatinny rail stock adapters are insanely popular but often only fold in one direction. The new Strike Dual Folding Adapter is the latest M1913 folding adapter system that can be folded in either direction without having to reconfigure the adapter. This new M1913 adapter will come with both a rear stabilizing brace, as well as a compatible buttpad for use with SBRs or non-NFA rifles.

Looking for a new short-barreled rifle? B&T USA is introducing new APC9 models with their newly released MBT telescoping and folding stock, with either a 6.9-inch or a longer 8.9-inch barrel. The FN F2000 made its debut in 2001. Designed by FN Herstal in Belgium, it is a bullpup rifle chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO. It never looked so compact before as in the Photo Of The Day above. The F2000 S is a version modified for the Slovenian Army, and it has an elevated upper Picatinny rail. Apart from acting as a mount for the red dot and the magnifier, the rail also doubles as a carrying handle.

While we wait for the parts needed for the NFA “post sample” conversion, let’s talk about a feature of many modern silencers – the universal mount in 1.375 x 24. I find it is helpful to return to the basics for a deeper understanding of how our gear works. Let’s take a look.

Advanced Armament Company has a new series of rifle suppressors called Ranger made with a focus on users of the AR15 and AR10 rifles. The new suppressor line currently includes two models – Ranger 5 and Ranger 7. They are both made out of Inconel 718 high-strength nickel alloy steel and 17-4 H900 stainless steel, and are rated for full-auto. In case you didn’t know, Formula One cars use exhausts made out of Inconel because of the performance of this material in very hot environments.

Hello and welcome to another edition of The Rimifre Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many guns, sports, history, and more! Last week we talked a bit about fellow writer Rusty S’s well-put-together Tikka T1x 22LR varmint rifle. While I think everyone can appreciate a really nice 22LR varmint slaying rifle, a lot of you seemed to hold the sentiment that there are other rifles out there that are far less expensive that can probably still take to the task more affordably, and you’re probably all 100% right. I’m all for optimizing setups including my 22LR rifles and pistols and this often means borrowing other parts and accessories from some of my more expensive rigs. However, one thing I try my best not to borrow from is the suppressors for my centerfire guns. Suppressing firearms chambered in 22LR seems like it might be a dead simple task but if you’re trying to optimize your setup then there are a few basic rules you can follow to keep costs down, maintenance intervals low, and have your auto-loading guns running smoothly. Today on The Rimfire Report we’ll go over a few basic methods you can follow for suppressing 22LR rifles and pistols to get the best results.

We’re always on the lookout for the best firearms-related images out there and today we get some help from B&T USA. They have dressed up their APC9 and its three-lug with an SQD suppressor.  I’m very happy to own two APC9s, which I bought about ten years ago (in Europe), long before they came into fashion and became available in the US market. Aero Precision recently announced that not only would they be offering their first suppressor, but also their first-ever bolt-action receiver as well! The Lahar-30 is intended to be Aero Precisions suppressor offering for those who want to get into buying suppressors but are also worried about future-proofing their purchase so that it can be adapted to other platforms without needing to worry about barrel length restrictions or the type of QD mount you want to get into. Meanwhile, the Solus bolt action receiver was initially intended to be just a short-action receiver with swappable bolt heads, but now it seems (and all but 100% confirmed by today’s guest) that Aero Precision might actually be offering the Solus as a complete turn-key rifle. Allen Engineering is a well-known name in the world of clone rifles. Their AEM5 silencer is the “clone correct” option for a Mk12 build. Recently, Trajectory Arms announced that they would be taking over production of the AEM5 silencers.

We continue our Autumn in Maine series with a popular backcountry pistol chambered in 10mm. The GLOCK 29 is a compact version of the GLOCK 20, reducing the barrel, slide, and grip length enough to be more concealable than a full-sized handgun. Keep in mind that the GLOCK G29 is not as compact as its cousin the GLOCK 26 chambered in 9mm. It is a large frame GLOCK with a wide grip and will practically end any ideas you had of pocket carry. But in the northern states, where moose, bear, and other large animals can be a problem, most of us feel slightly under-gunned with a 9mm pistol.

No matter your age, geographic location, or mission, there is a definite utility in a quality lever action rifle. Typically a blend of blued steel and wood, a lever gun has a comfortable feel, classic lines, and a sort of historic presence that everyone can love. It inspires confidence, safety, and the ability to provide. Sure we can debate caliber selections – everything from .22LR up to .45-70 Gov’t – but a lever action rifle has maintained most of its original usefulness over the past 150+ years of common use. Today we are going to talk about the return of a classic: the Ruger Marlin 1895 Guide Gun. This is a capable rifle that can be used for hunting, backcountry protection or for just owning a little piece of America.
