TFB Behind The Gun Podcast #127: TFB's Resident Canuck - Zac K
This week’s guest is another one of our own, Mr. Zac K. Zac hails from the great white north of Canada, and despite their current restrictive gun laws, Zac has been doing a lot here at TFB to bring you all the latest news for new firearm and ammunition releases, as well as close tabs on current firearms legislation across the globe with an obvious penchant for Canadian firearms law. Today we’ve brought Zac to the TFB podcast to talk a bit more about himself and what he’s doing here at the blog. Today he’ll also give us a very detailed and intimate look into Canada’s current firearms culture, and where he thinks it is going to go from here on out. Please welcome TFB Writer Zac K to the show!
Indian Army Plans to Upgrade the INSAS Rifle. Part 1 - History
The history of the Indian INSAS rifle is quite unique and has always been marked by controversy. And even if you never heard of it before, you can figure out its reputation just by reading headlines of TFB articles published in the last 10 years:
POTD: IPSC Mini Rifle - Rimfire With Stalon RC Suppressor
Photo Of The Day with some images of what shooters should do a lot more often - shoot rimfire suppressed. It’s very fun and (used to be) an inexpensive way to get a lot of training, without creating too much noise. In many ways, rimfire can be a great way to try out and perfect new shooting styles, like shooting on the move - which is very difficult as the rifle keeps on moving and bumping into your shoulder and other body parts.
Wheelgun Wednesday: Pietta Deluxe Engraved Snubnose Model 1860/1862
Welcome back to Wheelgun Wednesday, our weekly article series where we cover everything related to revolvers. Today’s topic is a rather unconventional Deluxe Engraved 1860 Army Model by Pietta, a cowboy firearm replica that may not score high in practicality in the modern world, but surely does in the looks department.
Hatsan BullTac SA: Semi-Auto Bullpup Scattergun
In late 2023, Hatsan introduced a new pump-action bullpup to the U.S. market. If you liked that idea, but you thought you’d like it a lot more if it was semi-auto, then we have good news for you: That’s exactly what Hatsan is bringing to the States now, with the new BullTac SA shotgun.
Gun Shops and Gun Laws in UAE (United Arab Emirates)
In recent years, UAE in general, and Dubai in particular became known as a luxury travel destination and a great place to do business in the Middle East. I was lucky to closely watch the advancement of the UAE in the last 20 years, and the question of UAE gun culture has always fascinated me. Now, UAE is one of the safest countries in the world, both in terms of crime and terrorism threats, but it was not always the case.
POTD: Spanish & Italian Snipers - Barrett M95 & Victrix Scorpio
The wind blows cold, but TFB’s Photo Of The Day is on fire. We have snipers calibrating their rifles with a Labradar during Saber Strike 24 at Bemowo Piskie Training Area, Poland, on April 20, 2024. I’m not sure it’s suitable to keep the muzzle device of a Barrett M95 that close to any chronograph, but if it works it works.

Why Do I See CF98, The Chinese Service Pistol, In My Nightmares?
In the US and Europe, many gun owners feel like a Glock or a SIG are pretty dull and boring pistols available to everyone. But when you venture to the Middle East and Africa, things change dramatically. “Normal” Western pistols become expensive and hard to find and you start seeing more and more Chinese handguns, the most popular being the CF-98.
