Okki, a reader of TFB, discovered a primitive blackpowder shotgun in use by locals at the Uros floating islands on Lake Titicaca, Peru.

Beretta semi-auto shotguns are prized in the competition world, but don’t have the same presence in the “tactical shotgun” world alongside weapons such as the Remington 870 Police and Benelli’s Tactical series. Beretta is hoping to change that with the Tx4, a 12ga semi-auto with an 18″ hammer forged and chrome lined barrel, iron sights, and a top picatinny rail. Jarno of Beretta explains more in the video.

Benelli is a relatively new firearm manufacturer, especially in European terms, having been established in 1967. It’s grown to be a respected force in the shotgun business, and especially since becoming part of the Beretta Group, it’s adopted many new technologies. The level of automation is incredibly high – for example, production of the new Vinci shotgun, from processing of raw materials to final packaging, is entirely done by robots and machines.

While at IWA, I had the chance to sit down with two very knowledgeable guys from the Turkish firearms manufacturing company, Sarsilmaz. Semih, a sales executive, talked to me about the company itself and their plans to expand to the United States, while Ahmet, an engineer, discussed the various pistols, revolvers, and shotguns that the company makes.

Stoeger’s Model 2000 is a very popular shotgun. It uses the same inertia operated semi-auto action as the Benelli shotguns, but at a much lower price. Earlier this year, Stoeger introduced the Model 3500 at SHOT Show, a 12 gauge 3.5″ magnum version of the Model 2000.

LaserLyte has developed a Quad Rail for double barrel shotguns.

Yesterday day I reported that StrategyPage.com said that the shotgun was out of favor with the Chinese military. This is not entirely correct. It is true that the the pump-action Type 97-1 is no longer in fashion, but instead of discarding the shotgun the Chinese have instead gone with the QBS 09 (Type 09) semi-automatic shotgun.

While being light on details, Strategy Page reports that the Chinese PLA has decided not to expand its arsenal of shotguns, considering them a riot control weapon rather than a combat weapon.

AutoWeapons.com is selling a AOW gun, called the CSG Companion, that chambers a single .410 shot gun shell and functions as a flashlight. It is selling for $895.

This monster punt gun, dating back to the 1870s, weighs about 100 pounds and is 6ft. and 4 inches long. It has a bore size of 1.5″, which puts it somewhere between 1.5 Bore (1.459″) and 1 Bore (1.669″) in size.
