Ross Zheng Engineering, the company that featured their first product during SHOT Show in January of 2015, is finally announcing its availability. The product is their UNIMAG, which is a multi-caliber magazine designed for AR-15 platforms. The UNIMAG can be used with 30 rounds of .223 Rem, 5.56 NATO, or .300 BLK, 29 rounds of 5.45x39mm, 26 rounds of 6.8 SPC, 25 rounds of 7.62x39mm, 24 rounds of 6.5 Grendel, or 12 rounds of 458 SOCOM. Their patented design includes their own controlled-tilt follower which is meant to decrease jamming and increase stability.

Travis Haley is always all about speed and economy of movement. Since the famous Magpul video, he has expanded from being just a high-speed trainer into a low-drag innovator (I admit it, I own and regularly use an Incog holster).

Just when I think something could not get more absurd -or- wonder how a really cool legit tactical ideal can get bastardized, something comes along and sets a new bar. Latest up is Rapid Wraps a company selling 3-packs of magazine wraps via Amazon. 

SGM Tactical brought out their new happy stick mags at Big 3 East. They are heat treated stainless steel lined sleeves. They will be available soon and will retail for $19.99. They have performed flawlessly with a 10ft drop fully loaded. Just like the Glock version, the 9mm will hold 33 rds and they are Gen4 compatible.

Recently on a teasing spree, ETS Group, known for their smoke magazines with a built-in coupler, has been teasing some new polymer Glock 9mm magazines. Designed to fit in standard Glocks, the magazines are shown to be Generation 4 compatible. Further, ETS is using standard Glock floor plates for easy accessory additions.

With the news of Magpul’s Glock magazines, the Elite Tactical Systems Group magazines got drowned out. ETS is making transparent polymer Glock Magazines. They are expected to be released in April and they are making different size magazines for 9mm.

Good news for M11/9 owners looking for affordable magazines! Shockwave Technologies has released its ZMAG for the Cobray M11/9 submachine gun. These guns, though affordable (by registered machine gun standards) suffer from problematic and aging Zytel magazines. Shockwave’s Marty Ewer explains:

Honestly, I am surprised that General Kalashnikov did not purposefully put in a bolt-hold open mechanism into an AK or its magazines. Recognizing the potential advantages of the system, the Yugoslavians built the functionality into their magazine. Sadly, Yugo magazines are expensive (I consider $25 expensive for an AK magazine) and can be harder to find.

X-Products, known for their 50 round drum magazines and now infamous for the Can Cannon, is now shipping the X-15-9mm drum magazine for Colt-pattern weapons. X-Products touts it as the “most compact 9mm drum magazine on the market.”

Ay Carumba… Just when I think we have caught up on SHOT introductions, another one crops up. This time, a compelling offering from Israel, the e-Lander 1911 steel magazines. 

DIY designer Jing Zheng has submitted a few videos to YouTube of his multi-caliber capable AR type magazine design. He first announced it to the public in December 2011, as the Longziz #2, it is capable with 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, 5.45x39mm, 7.62x39mm, and the STANAG mag. staple .223/5.56mm. He is currently looking at testing with the .300 BLK.

Steyr announced that next week they will be raising prices of magazines because of shortages.

Like Jim, who emailed me these photos, it makes me want to cry to see these magazines abused in this way. I would pay top dollar to buy them by the ton!
