FN America have announced the introduction of some improvements to their semi-auto SCAR line of rifles. The main upgrade is the inclusion of non-reciprocating ambidextrous charging handles to the SCAR 16S, 17S and 20S. This mirrors upgrades already made to the military and law enforcement SCARs and the civilian-available SCAR-SC PDW which was introduced in 2017.

FN America have been awarded a $92 million contract by the US Army to produce M240 series general purpose machine guns. The firm fixed price contract awarded 8 June calls for an estimated completion date of June 2026. FN confirmed that the contract will cover M240 provisions not just for the US Army but also other Department of Defense programs.

The color of the handgun is apparently a very important factor for the sales of firearms, and FDE (Flat Dark Earth) is still very much in fashion. In fact, it’s so important that FN America has chosen to offer the FN Five-seveN and the FN 503 in all-FDE. I have to say I really like FDE, but on a handgun – especially one designated for EDC carry – something black or darker would be my personal preference.

The 509 series of FN America handguns has become rather popular especially the tactical versions. Fans of the FNX-45 tactical have been clamoring for a 9mm version of their flagship handgun and the 509 Tactical delivered. Last November FN hosted a media event to unveil their new 509 pistol – the 509 LS Edge.

FN America have confirmed that the US Army has awarded them a contract to deliver an unspecified number of new M249 Squad Automatic Weapons. The contract is due to be fulfilled by 2025 with deliveries set to begin soon.

FN America‘s current AR-15 lineup – dubbed the “FN-15 Series” – includes eighteen models, ranging from 5.56 and 300BLK pistols to a competition-purposed model to California-compliant versions and more. FN also provides variants of these fighting rifles to various military and law enforcement groups around the globe. Primary Arms already carries dozens of FN America products, from complete firearms to magazines and more. Now Primary Arms has announced that they are adding a collection of FN’s AR barrels to their product menu.

The US Department of Defense has announced that Colt’s Manufacturing and FN America have been selected to compete for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contracts worth up to $383,311,941 to produce M16A4 rifles for US allied nations including Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Nepal. The companies will bid for each of the orders.

FN America have updated the law enforcement carbine offerings with the new FN 15 SRP G2 carbines, available with both 11.5 and 16-inch barrels and updated, extended M-LOK hanguards. The new carbines join the FN 15 Patrol SBR with a 14.5″ barrel and the older FN 15 Patrol SBR 10.5″, which has the older style Mil-Spec M4-style handguards.

The steady roll to 6.5 Creedmoor long range domination continues as FN announces the release of the SCAR 20S in a new caliber. Banking on the SOCOM support of 6.5CM in the MK20 SSR, FN decided to release the Creedmoor SCAR In the 20S long range platform as match-grade ammo becomes more available and accomplished long range shooters continue to adopt the caliber. The 7.62 17S magazines are interchangeable with the new 6.5 Creedmoor platform.

Since the introduction of the 509, FN America have steadily expanded the line with midsize and optics ready options. The 509 line has no expanded to include a Compact MRD Optics-Ready variant, the pistol has a 3.7-inch barrel and a compact slide. FN America have announced the launch of a pair of FN 509s in a unique FDE finish, the new 509s will be available exclusively from Bill Hicks & Co. The Standard and Tactical variants of FN’s current flagship pistol are available with standard 17 round magazines but also 10 round magazines.

As the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference ( SOFIC) starts today at The Tampa Convention Center (Florida) FN will be showing a prototype of a 6.5 Creedmoor Mk 48 Mod 2 Machine Gun.

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety has selected FN America to supply the FN 15 Patrol Carbine. There is some logic in that, as FN America produce the carbine in the same state.
