New from Ed Brown Products, the custom 1911 manufacturers, is the LS10 long-slide 10mm.  Equipped with a 3.25 MOA Trijicon RMR and tall trijicon night sights, this 43oz powerhouse can take advantage of heavier 10mm loads due to the 6″ barrel.  Paired with some Cor-Bon or Buffalo Bore, this would be a good option for filling that short-range weapon season tag, or for hunters who prefer to use a handgun during the general season.

Fans of the 10mm 1911 have a new gun to consider the next time they wander into a local gun shop: the Ruger SR1911.

So you want an AR-15 for hog hunting that can launch .40 cal (10mm) pills? This wildcat caliber might be what you are looking for. It is called .400AR and was developed for hog hunting. The designers had initial requirements to have the largest caliber that will allow having double stack loaded ammunition in magazines fitting into the AR-15 magazine well. They also wanted to have at least 2,000 ft-lbs (2,712 joules) of muzzle energy and be able to use one of common cartridge head sizes which would allow using an off-the-shelf AR-15 bolt.

We fired 10mm Hornady 175 gr Critical Duty FlexLock from 4.5″ barrel EAA polymer frame Witness at 20 feet into clear ballistic gel to assess velocity, penetration, expansion, and weight retention. While the performance may not be perfect, it is nevertheless quite good.

During the past few months, I’ve seen more people talking about the 10mm – both online and in a few of the gun shops I wander into. I understand why the cartridge is appealing. It is a powerful cartridge capable of a wide range of activities from hunting to bowling pin matches. Of course, the self defense crowd understandably likes the power as well.

For anybody that is a fan of the 10mm, Springfield Armory is responding to a lot of unanswered prayers. In an open “Q&A” video on Springfield Armory’s YouTube channel, a Facebook user basically asked if they would be making a 10mm any time soon. This was their response:

Oh yes, it’s that time. The 10mm Automatic, what hasn’t been said about it? Well, a decently sourced article about its history*, maybe, but that’s for another time. Right now, we’re considering the 10mm Auto (or 10mm Norma as it’s more prim and properly called) as a personal defense weapon and submachine gun caliber. The 10mm was designed in 1980 by Swedish company FFV Norma AB with input from Jeff Cooper as the most powerful and capable automatic handgun round of its day, but will that extra power pay off when pushed beyond its design limits into the 50-300m range, at least according to the JBM Ballistics calculator?

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these Modern PDW Calibers installments, but we’re back, and today we’re looking at a very new round on the market, one that is currently making some pretty big waves in the pistol world. I am talking of course about the 7.5x27mm FK Brno, designed for the CZ-75-derived FK Field Pistol from the company that shares its name. A high velocity .30 cal pistol round is not a new idea, having predecessors in the .300 JAWS, 7.62×25 Tokarev, and others, but what makes the 7.5 FK so interesting is just how powerful it is: A 103 grain monolithic bullet is advertised as leaving the 6″ Field Pistol barrel at an incredible 2,000 ft/s! This means that, if the company’s performance claims are true, the FK Field Pistol is ballistically the equal of the old WWII-era M1 Carbine!

Kimber recently introduced a new hunting pistol called the Super Jägare. The new 1911 style pistol is chambered in 10mm making it useful for many small to medium sized game animals.

A friend of mine shared this photo he found on Reddit. It is a SilencerCo Osprey 45 on a 10mm Glock 20. Both have had sections removed to expose the details underneath. I have seen cutaway Glocks but not a 10mm Glock 20 version before.

New Frontier Armory is expected show its new C-45 lowers at the 2017 SHOT Show. These new lowers are said to be machined from a single block of 7075-T6 aluminum and will be available in both black anodized and unfinished (or raw.)

It’s hard to believe that more than a decade has past since the development and release of the original KRISS Vector. By now, if you haven’t shot a KRISS, know someone who owns one or at least handled one in a gun store, it’s safe to say you’ve been seriously lost: we are talking Tom-Hanks-desert-island kind of lost. Love or hate the design and ergonomics, this is what firearms innovation looks like. And now, after all these years, KRISS has finally released the Vector in the the sledge hammer-force caliber of 10mm.

Guncrafter Industries announced a pair of new 1911 style handguns chambered for cartridges other than the .45 ACP. (Guncrafter Industries is the same company that makes the .50 GI conversion for the Glock 20 and 21 pistols.)

This past week Remington held it’s annual Writers New Product Seminar in west Virginia. Remington always does a good job of presenting it’s new guns and products for the coming year then taking us to the large BSA facility and ranges to get some trigger time in with these new offerings. Most will be announced in the coming months. Don’t ask I’m not saying a word until it’s time!
