Kalashnikov USA had a number of different offerings this year, everything from an all-American 7.62x39mm AKM rifle to competition entries from Decedent Arms who are putting their competition modifications to the AK-patterned platforms. Probably the most important point that readers are interested in is the 7.62x39mm AKM that Kalashnikov is putting out, in addition to the 9x19mm “Vintorez” pistol. Also out is the 12 gauge ‘firearm’ that Kalashnikov USA is releasing this year for 2020. Kalashnikov also has a California compliant 9mm PPC that will be available with California featureless regulations.

In the precision rifle world, B&T industries is well known for their top quality bipods, monopod and rail accessories.  Starting with their monopod and moving to their V8 series then the PSR (to meet the needs of the similarly named USSOCOM rifle project) more recently the Cal and now the SUPER Cal B&T are not ones to rest on their laurels. 

Walking through the Wednesday Pop-Up showcase is always a mixed bag.  Most of the booths are things that would not warrant a full display at SHOT.  I do, however, enjoy heading up there and looking for the diamonds in rough.  I think this year Rapid Stop Tourniquet was my favorite find.

Walther’s 9x19mm Q4 SF steel-framed handgun is based on their earlier Q5 Match, except with an optics-ready plate that allows users to mount an optic of their choice to the handgun. The pistol is intended as a carry version of the Q5 which was received with much fanfare last year but many requested that a carry version be brought to market.

Franklin Armory is coming out with a Binary trigger for the Ruger 10/22 platform. The trigger will have ambidextrous controls with a safe, semi, and binary option, allowing shooters to fire a round when the trigger is pressed and then another round when the trigger is depressed from the trigger reset position. The selector is similar to an early M1 Carbine selector switch with the toggle switch. Currently, the trigger will only come in one color, but there are options out there on the market.

In this episode of TFBTV, James discusses the PSA JAKL with Palmetto State Armory. The JAKL is essentially a bufferless AR-15 featuring a monolithic upper, a non-reciprocating charging handle and a folding brace.

Springfield Armory is bringing their Hellcat to market, a striker-fired handgun that comes in both optics ready and optics dedicated platforms with the Shield red dot sight. Optic-equipped handguns have slowly been taking mainstream handguns by storm and this is certainly a major step forward with one of the larger handgun companies introducing a complete setup to the U.S. market.

Every year, during the SHOT Show days, Rifle Dynamics hold their own event, the RD Open House. This year I was lucky to be able to attend it and in this article, I’ll tell you about the newly released and prototype Rifle Dynamics products as well as some really interesting builds displayed during the event.

In addition, Wraithwroks has teamed up with X Products to ship their 50 round capacity X-CZ-9 alongside the WARSCORP9.

The latest addition to the  Black Aces Tactical shotgun line is called The Bullpup Pump – a fairly self-explanatory name. This 12 gauge shotgun is based on a Turkish magazine-fed bullpup semi-auto shotgun converted by Black Aces Tactical into a spring-assisted pump-action gun.

Tyrant Designs, known for their high-quality upgrades for AR-15s and common polymer pistols, has a few new components they debuted at SHOT Show 2020 to keep our firearms stylin’ and functioning at their best. We have previously reviewed components on TFB like the Tyrant Designs T-Comp, and found them to function phenomenally so we would not expect anything less with what they had to show us at SHOT Show.

I’m not going to lie, I have a special place in my heart for RISE Armament. I own all of their triggers (except for the original Gadsen, since I was not blessed enough to attend NRA Show last year). I also have their 1121XR Rifle in both .308 Win and 6.5 CM. Not only do they make the best triggers I have ever used (my personal opinion, of course), but their Director of Marketing is apparently wicked with a knife:

It has been an exciting 2020 for everyone over at Boyds Gunstocks so far and we have not made it out of the month of January yet! It was announced after New Years that  Boyds Gunstocks Industries Inc, as of January 2nd, transitioned to the new ownership of Dustin Knutson and Rob Carstensen who have been with  Boyds for a combined 24 years. Soon afterwards their most affordable gunstock yet was debuted in the “ Spike Camp” which looks to have tremendous potential for the features provided and the price-point at which it is offered.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves visits Palmetto State Armory to review the new pistol from PSA, the DAGR 9. The dagger is, more or less, a $300 Gen 3 Glock clone. It appears to be of quality construction, including a nitrided slide & barrel, and it has a broad range of Glock parts compatibility. It will be available in 4 trim levels including suppressor-ready versions and a tactical model with micro red dot capability.

Fix It Sticks has introduced NEW 3-Gun and PRS Kits for shooters to tighten their optics, firearms, and accessories in a more mobile, handy wallet. Many people know Fix It Sticks for their smaller kits to help mount optics out in the field or even to tinker on their mountain bike. In reality, Fix It Sticks has a large assortment of kits for people to choose from to suit whatever their adventures might entail.

New for 2020 from Hatsan is a PCP airgun that launches arrows (no, the arrows aren’t laced with PCP).  A  bullpup configuration in that the chamber is rear of the grip and triggerguard, the Harpooon launches 20″ arrows at a muzzle velocity of 600fps.  Hatsan quotes a “muzzle energy” of 310 ft-lbs.  If this is accurate, this would put the Harpoon ahead of most crossbows energy-wise.  The Harpoon can fire 10 shots at nominal velocity, weighs 9.5lbs and has an MSRP of $849.  The Harpoon also has a provision to carry two spare arrows, one on either side of the weapon.

Springfield Armory leading into SHOT Show 2020 unveiled their 1911 Ronin Operator to the world, but we finally were able to put our hands on it while attending SHOT Show 2020. The firearm that you may have already seen on the internet and murmurings at gun shops is a 5″ barrel model commonly referred to as a ‘Government’ size. To our surprise, it appears that Springfield Armory is going to be making both a Government profile (5″ barrel) 1911 Ronin Operator as well as a Commander profile (4.25″ barrel) version.
