In TFBTV’s continual coverage of SHOT Show 2019, Brannon visits with Tim from KRISS at Range Day, to talk about their new folding adaptor, some upgrades to the Vector series, and some new EXTENDO magazines for their 9mm and 10mm guns.

In this episode of TFBTV, James reports the great news! Zastava will now be importing their M70 AKs like the M70 O-PAP and N-PAP, as well as their M92 Krinkovs, and their line of pistols. No more waiting for imports or surplus guns!

Although certainly not covert in any sort of way, Surgeon Rifles quietly goes about their work of custom precision rifle work without too much fanfare in the public sphere. The company works with a number of different configurations such as chassis systems, traditional stocks, and others for different projects that they take on with their customers. We take a look at one of their projects in this video, the owner’s personal rifle as an example of what can be accomplished at the company.

I, like many others I suspect, am always on the lookout for that one rifle that can do it all.  Of course, this is just a fantasy.  First, we are limited by weight.  A good mountain hunting rifle would be light and easy to pack, while a good competition rifle would have enough heft to smooth out some of the shooters wobble and soak up a bit of the recoil.  Second, we are limited by cartridge.  Anything ideal for killing big game would be overkill for shooting varmints or plinking steel.  That being said, Duplessis Rifle Co. has created a modular rifle system that might just bring that fantasy a little closer to reality.

AR-18 is probably one of the most underappreciated firearms designs in history. The rifle itself was not very popular, but the basic design of its bolt and bolt carrier was used by at least 9 different countries: Germany in the G36, Belgium in the SCAR, the Czech Republic in Bren 805 and 807, the US in Bushmaster ACR, UK in L85, Israel in Tavor, South Korea in K1A1, Singapore in SAR-80 and Japan in their Type 89. Now, another country and another company joined that list – Canada with WK180-C designed by Kodiak Defence.

Zero Compromise Optic as a company is brand new to optics world, their owner and employees, however, are not.   With lineage from both Nightforce and Kahles, the minds behind Zcomp have a lot of real-world experience.  When I released one of their first product videos last year it had over 15,000 views in the first 48 hours, so obviously the precision rifle community had room in their minds for one more scope manufacturer, especially one that vowed not to cut any corners.  Now, one year later Zero Compromise has 2 products ready for market, the ZC527 and the ZC420.

We all know that STI International has some outrageous pistols (we mean that as a compliment, by the way) because not only are their firearms spooky accurate, but they have futuristic looks that could kill. All of this was dialed up a notch at SHOT Show 2019 when they introduced 3 new models including the overwhelming crowd favorite “John Wick” gun. STI had on hand the exact pistol used in filming the John Wick: Chapter 3 movie coming out this May. As a result, it drew a lot of buzz to their booth, but first let’s check out the other 2 new models introduced.

There’s a few “AR-15 style” shotguns floating around on the market, to be honest most of them are pretty forgettable. A few years ago Adam wrote a post about a pretty interesting looking AR based shotgun called the Typhoon F12. The post said the Typhoon F12 shotgun was in the process of being produced, well they’re finally here in the United States and are available to purchase.

Mesa Tactical is known for their tactical shotgun accessories for both range enthusiasts and law enforcement, and they expanded on that at SHOT Show 2019. They are now offering an M-LOK forend for the highly popular Benelli M4. This definitely fills a void by allowing shooters to more easily add accessories such as grips and flashlights to their duty or defense shotgun.

As an assistant mountain goat guide in Southeast Alaska there were two traits I really appreciated about certain hunters, being able to shoot accurately and packing light.  The gear from Spartan Precision Equipment is oriented towards both of those virtues.  To help hunters achieve a more stable shooting platform Spartan has produced quick attach bipods and tripods.  The quick attack function is achieved with a slip collar and rare earth magnets.  This creates a very positive lockup.

It was on Tuesday, January 22nd that  The Firearm Blog broke the news of a NEW Boyds At-One Adjustable Thumbhole stock. The Press Release directly from Boyds clued us all in on the new gun stocks that would be immediately available for 2019, but it is always better to check them out in person… So we did! We headed over to the Boyds booth at SHOT Show and handled some of the At-One stocks for ourselves.

Good evening everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday… Wait, that’s not right, my brain must be mush from SHOT. With our our winning team of writers and videographers who pulled long days, interviewing hundreds of companies and writing thousands of words, I was lucky enough to be able to focus on a just a handful of companies, most of whom manufacture suppressors. And one of my favorite stops every year is to the guys at Thompson Machine Suppressors, who always seem like they are having too much fun to actually be working. But, from the looks of their lineup, they’ve been burning candle at both ends.

Fire Control Unit is the name of the company that made a PDW chassis for the P320 FCU. Check out Pete’s review if you don’t know what I am talking about. Fire Control Unit capitalized on the modularity of the Sig Sauer P320 since the FCU or trigger pack is the serialized firearm they took that concept and ran with it in their X01 PDW. Well they are expanding their modular chassis design with an X02 and X03. Last December, Fire Control Unit teased a photo of the X02 and X03, which at the time was called the AR320. Well at SHOT Show, they had a prototype of the X03 on display.

Due to the weather on the east coast a majority of the SB Tactical team had their flights delayed and or canceled. While the HKPDW brace was at their booth, their prototype SBA4 was stuck on the east coast. Fortunately they were able to get it shipped out and it made it to SHOT Show half way through the week so I went back to check it out.

In recent years, several companies started offering low-profile, minimalistic plate carriers. Ferro Concepts’s Slickster, Spiritus Systems’s LV119 are very popular and often featured on Instagram photos and videos of some well-known gun community influencers. Recently, 5.11 came up with their own version of low profile and scalable body armor – all mission plate carrier.

Barrett has taken the 5.56x45mm REC7 rifle and upgraded it to a 7.62x51mm package which is now the REC10. The REC10 was a product development of a foreign military solicitation program in which Barrett was successful in acquiring and winning. We don’t know what exact country this was, but we should have more information on the blog side of TFB in the future, or at least when we see them being used in the wild.

Many of us have been long awaiting the arrival and debut of the 7.62mm Tavor 7 and the 12 gauge TS12. Unfortunately there have been a few setbacks in getting the small arms in from Israel. In the case of the Tavor 7 the reason is that the rifle itself is a 4 MOA gun, something that the U.S. sales reps knew wouldn’t be a good fit for the U.S. market. Thus, IWI in Israel is redoing the rifle in order to make it a 1 MOA rifle, suitable for an acceptable standard of accuracy in the United States.

Robinson Armaments is coming out with a variant of their XCR-L line that they were displaying at SHOT 2019, the XCR-L Competition. The difference between this XCR-L and the standard line is mainly a number of lightening cuts that were done to the Picatinny optics rail, similar to many cuts done to AR15s in the competition world. In addition the compensator has been changed out for a sleeker version with 4 gas ports on either side of the compensator. The variant on display here was unfinished so future versions will most likely be black in color. Apart from some unique and racy color schemes and paint jobs, Robinson Armaments has usually not entered into the competition field with any of their rifles in previous years but this might mark a different trend if successful.

Every SHOT SHOW you talk to fellow gunwriters and ask them the same question: “Have you seen anything really new and interesting?”. Most of the time an answer is quite vague: “Well, you know, this and that, it depends on you definition of “new and interesting”… This SHOT, I did not have a problem answering this question. Axion Second Zero device is something I never saw before, I never heard about similar devices and it looks like it actually brings something new to the table.

STI through Taren Tactical is going to be releasing to market an exact recreation of the custom STI handguns used by Keanu Reeves in John Wick 3, except that they will be live firing instead of blank. These will be available with a number of Taren Tactical accessories that can be bought through Taren as the distributor.

Nightforce brought in a new reticule configuration for their first focal plane scopes, called the MIL-XT. Essentially the reticule was built from much feedback from numerous long-range shooters who required a very precise ranging and stadia line system with which to make quick follow up shots while under the clock. The MIL-XT helps solve this void in the design of it.

For those who play in the dark with night vision, BNVDs (Binocular Night Vision Devices) are all the rage. Unless you are swimming in expendable cash like my friend JW with his ANVIS10 quad tube pano NODs (think Zero Dark Thirty). Anyway, when looking into dual tube binocular night vision there are limited options. If you have the cash you get the best like Richard L. who has PVS-31s. They are the ultimate BNVDs but for most people they go with Sentinels or DTNVGs.

SilencerCo is coming out with an adaptable .22 LR suppressor wherein a user can change the configuration of the tube to either match a handgun or a rifle at a hearing safe level but also coming in a very small package so as to not take too much space at the end of a muzzle. When these two portions are combined together, they form a larger suppressor that is much quieter than ear safe.

Accuracy International has brought their ASR entry rifle to the commercial market in the United States for civilians to purchase. Initially, there is a collector’s Deployment Kit that will cost $19,544 and be sold in a limited edition.

Thanks to my friend for alerting me to this hidden gem at SHOT Show 2019. Steiner is the maker of many night vision and laser devices. They make the PVS21 night vision goggles and DBAL weapon laser. Well at SHOT Show they have a new thermal weapon sight that is the first of its kind. The Steiner CQT is a reflex day sight with thermal overlay.

Surefire is bringing in a pistol mounted ATPIAL device, with not only a visible green light and laser, but also an infrared illuminator. The XVL2 allows you to have all the options that a standard ATPIAL will have but with the minimalistic and optimal switching patterns that may have come to like about Surefire. The company might be making pressure switches for it as well, so you could mount it on a PDW or rifle package. There is a civilian version with an eye-safe laser.

KÄGWERKS is a Washington State-based company that produces field case solutions for electronic devices so that they can be used in the field under rough use. Their cases are mostly centered around Android systems as this is what the majority of the end users/clients are using when it comes to electronic devices that are being used in the field. Right now the company has been working within SOCOM for many of their deliveries, but many of their products are available for commercial sale as well.

Last September, Archon Firearms started shipping their new Archon B pistol to the customers. Generally, Archon B had favorable reviews, but two youtube bloggers, Honest Outlaw and Military Arms Channel had significant problems with light primer strikes. Fortunately, the company quickly took care of a problem in both cases and for now, no other issues have been reported.
