Zastava Arms to Showcase Bullet Casing Dresses at SHOT Show 2024

We all know Zastava Arms as a firearms manufacturer, Serbia’s premier maker of Kalashnikov-pattern rifles and more. In addition to their dozens of famed AK models, Zastava also produces quite a few other weapons, from handguns to bolt-action rifles and even a couple of anti-aircraft artillery pieces for their many national military customers. They have been in the weapons manufacturing business for more than 170 years, with their foundry’s first cannon barrels having been cast in Serbia’s fourth-largest city of Kragujevac (Крагујевац) all the way back in 1853. Now for SHOT Show this year, they’re partnering with Miona Badžević Anđelković, a Serbian entrepreneur, competitive shooter, fashionista, media personality, extreme sportswoman, humanitarian, and more. Zastava’s SHOT Show presentation will feature some of Miona’s exquisite fashion handiwork from her “LET HER” brand, in the form of dresses made of leather and brass shell casings. Check out the recent social media announcement about their collaboration with Miona to bring these incredible creations to Las Vegas later this month, copied below.

SIG SAUER Expands Professional Program to Include Veterans

SIG SAUER has offered a service discount on many of their products for a number of years now. More than three dozen of their firearms models currently qualify for the Professional Program, including many P320 variants, some P365s, P226s, MCXs, and more. Special pricing on these guns can be accessed through SIG’s network of Master- and Elite-level dealers. Previously, in addition to actively serving law enforcement officers and other full-time first responders, the only US military personnel who qualified for the Professional program had to be actively serving or possessive of specific “retired” credentials. This policy excluded the vast majority of veterans who didn’t stay in the military long enough for this qualification, but this has now changed. SIG recently announced the expansion of their Professional Program to include all honorably discharged military vets. Get the details on this change in the press release copied below.

Strike Industries Cable Management System Chosen for Army NGSW

Strike Industries is a prolific manufacturer of firearms parts and accessories. This Las Vegas-based company’s product catalog spans a huge array of components for ARs, AKs, CZ Scorpions, a variety of handguns, several shotguns, optics mounts, modular pistol chassis, and much more. One particular product category they’re proud of is their Cable Management System. With the significant proliferation of wired gun accessories like weapon lights and infrared laser aiming devices used with night vision, more shooters than ever have cables running across their handguards. Since plenty of buyers would prefer a more elegant solution to this issue than the old-school methods of tape or Ranger bands, quite a few companies have come out with cable management attachments that affix to Picatinny or M-LOK rails. However, it has now been announced that the SI version will be the one that the US Army has chosen for its NGSW program. Get more details in the press release copied below.

SIG SAUER Announces P226 40th Anniversary Celebration

SIG SAUER has produced a number of notable handguns over the years, and among their most iconic is the P226. It was originally designed as SIG’s entrant into the US military’s XM9 Service Pistol Trials in 1984, as the Pentagon sought an updated 9mm replacement for the M1911. SIG’s offering emerged at the top of the testing gamut neck-and-neck with Beretta’s 92, which was eventually adopted as the DoD’s new M9 chiefly due to cost factors. Despite finishing as runner-up, the SIG’s quality and performance did not go unnoticed. Dozens of specialized military units (most notably the US Navy SEALs) and law enforcement agencies across the US and abroad have employed variants of the hammer-fired workhorse for the last four decades, with great success. Now SIG have announced a yearlong 40th birthday celebration in store across 2024 for their famous handgun.

B&T to Release ARs Based on Hodge Defense MOD1 and MOD2 Guns

Hodge Defense Systems has become a hot-ticket name in the AR-15 world in recent years. Their rise to popularity brought with it an air of exclusivity, as their products created enough demand to sometimes necessitate “drop”-style releases that would sell out in minutes. B&T has dabbled in AR-style and similar firearms before, including a prior collaboration with German manufacturer C.G. Haenel. Now the vaunted Swiss firm is set to enter a new partnership, this time with Hodge, to offer a new AR series. It will be called the BT-15 HD, based on Hodge’s extant MOD 1 and MOD 2 designs. These new B&T/Hodge ARs are estimated to be slated for a mid-2024 release and should be offered in either 11.5″ or 16″ variants.

California "Buyback" Nets An LAW

Ah, the scene of the gun “buyback.” For now, let’s leave aside the question as to how something can be “bought back” when the buyers never sold it to begin with. Instead, focus on the inanities that play out where the rubber meets the road, as things get more and more silly at the buying table. A prime example is a California event in early December, where media and law enforcement trumpeted the purchase of what appeared to be an LAW.
