Watchtower Firearms is a new gun company that emerged out of Texas in 2023. The brand name is an homage to the US military forces who fought in the Pacific Theater during World War II’s Guadalcanal Campaign, which was codenamed Operation Watchtower. Among other products, the company is launching a menu of AR-style offerings as well as one initial handgun model, which they have named the Apache. The Apache is a double-stack 1911 that is designed and marketed chiefly with the competitive shooter in mind. In a departure from their standard appendix and outside waistband holsters, T.REX Arms is now selling a hybrid holster for 4-o’clock carry. Unlike many other hybrid holsters, the  Ironside Hybrid holster fully encloses the trigger guard inside the Kydex shell rather than against the backer material. This design avoids the risk found in other hybrid holsters where the backer material can flex into the trigger guard and cause an accidental discharge when holstering up.

The Bergara Academy Long Range Shooting School has an additional new location in Wyoming at the Queen Mountain Ranch outside Evanston. It joins the existing location in Montana. Bergara will offer a series of 2-day “Beginner Western Hunter” classes running from May through August. Shooters will learn to engage targets out to 1,000 yards in hunting scenarios.

Holosun has grown to be an industry leader in optics in recent years. Many of their red dots and reflex sights have become some of the most popular options on the market, following on from more humble reputational beginnings. They have also dabbled in the night vision game, with their product catalog including a selection of infrared laser and illuminator units. Around SHOT Show 2023, Holosun revealed that they were working on getting deeper into the low-light shooting market by virtue of a pair of upcoming digital prototype optics, one thermal and one standard NV. Now a year later, the night vision model is ready and heading to market soon. Breakthrough Clean Technologies, based in Louisville, Colorado, was founded in 2013. The Cody Firearms Museum, located at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming, is an icon. This incredible museum houses what they advertise as “the most comprehensive collection of American firearms in the world.” With the current count of more than 7000 guns and some 30,000 gun-related artifacts, this bold claim is well warranted. The museum is not publicly funded but is supported in part by admission tickets, tours and events, and membership options. Browning has announced the introduction of a 20 gauge version of its A5 shotgun at SHOT 2024. Notably different from the original Auto 5 series, this model features a humpback receiver that conceals a Kinematic Drive action, aligning with its modern 12 gauge and 16 gauge counterparts.

The Military Armament Corporation of today, or MAC, is a Knoxville, TN-based operation currently offering a selection of shotguns, handguns, and two models of MP5 clones, as well as a handful of other related products. This is differentiated from the same-named 1970s manufacturer of MAC-10 and MAC-11 machine pistols, which has been defunct since 1975. SIG SAUER unveiled their MCX-SPEAR LT series of firearms in the fall of 2022, following up from the prior release of their large-frame SPEAR model. The original SPEAR is essentially the commercial version of their DoD Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program entry to replace the military’s aging M4 carbines. The LT versions were added to maintain the design’s advantages while bringing additional options to buyers in further chamberings, such as 5.56 or 300 BLK.
