The United States Army has just awarded Federal Ammunition a new 5-year long contract worth $114,000,000 dollars. This new contract is meant to supply the United States Army with AA40 5.56mm Frangible Ammunition to be used for training purposes. Despite the recent adoption of the new M5 Spear and its .277 Fury cartridge, it seems the US Army still needs a healthy supply of 5.56mm ammunition for its inventory of carbines.

The Beretta A400 Upland semi-auto shotgun is now available in 28 gauge, combining Beretta’s latest technologies with a classic look. According to Beretta, the new A400 Upland in 28 gauge manages everything from light loads to 3” magnum shotshells, so you can quickly switch ammunition depending on what you’re hunting, without sacrificing reliability. It’s possible to field-strip the A400 Upland without any tools. The price in the USA is $1,829 (MSRP).

Back near the end of July 2022, we reported to you from KE Arms that the company was being sued by GWACS Armory over alleged patent and IP theft in regards to the KE-Arms KP-15 Monolithic Polymer Lower. While KE Arms has been attempting to work towards a resolution with GWACS Armory, it seems that these efforts have failed and that this lawsuit will now go to trial. Russel Phagan of KE Arms recently reached out to us with a public statement on this development surrounding the ongoing lawsuit and we’ve posted it below for your convenience.

Historical battle reenactments are both very educational and a lot of fun to either participate in or watch. The Battle of Plattsburgh, a historic battle that ended the British invasion of the United States during the war of 1812, is one such battle that is reenacted every year in the state of New York. However, this year’s reenactment has been partially canceled due to the new gun law that was passed and went into effect on September 1st in the state of New York. The new law understandably has several reenactors scared with many canceling their planned appearances at the event.

USPSA and IPSC are both very fun and engaging shooting sports that have a long laundry list of rules, regulations, and approved equipment. Part of this approved equipment also includes very strict criteria for each division that separates competitors to provide a more even playing field. Rock Island Armory’s first offering in the polymer-framed striker-fired pistol market -the  STK100 – has just received approval for the Production and Carry Optics divisions for both the IPSC and USPSA shooting organizations giving competitors access to yet another firearm. The Rock Island Armory STK100 was announced last year in June and is the first of its kind from RIA USA.

Last year during the midst of the COVID-19 panic, TRIGGRCON 2021 was unfortunately canceled due to public safety concerns as well as the fact that several exhibitors had canceled their attendance for the same reasons. The good news this year is that TRIGGRCON 2022 is happening but this time it will be much further east and will take place at the Flint Oak Hunting Lodge in Fall River Kansas between October 7th and 8th and will be open to both media and industry professionals as well as regular firearms enthusiasts. The Civilian Marksmanship Program is gearing up to release another batch of US military surplus 1911 pistols. Round 3 began on September 1 and runs through September 30. The CMP 1911 program differs from traditional CMP rifle purchases but does have similar eligibility requirements.

Smith & Wesson has expanded their lineup of M&P 10 rifles with the new Volunteer X series. These new models add upgrades to the base M&P 10 Sport model. They pair a 16″ barrel with an overall weight of under nine pounds.

Federal Ammunition is one step closer to further expanding its ammunition output with the recent groundbreaking ceremony of its new Raw Materials Warehouse being built in Coon Rapids, MN. The new raw materials storage facility will supposedly help reduce wait times for raw materials to make their way from distributors and into the production facilities located in Anoka County, Minnesota. This new facility will add to the already near-1-million sq/ft footprint that Federal’s ammunition manufacturing facilities currently sit on.

Osage County guns is a Missouri-based firearms store located approximately 45 west of St. Louis just off of Interstate 70. In the early morning on Saturday the 3rd of September, robbers drove a stolen Hyundai sedan through the entrance of the retail store causing not only significant damage but making off with firearms and accessories and getting away before police arrived. Most firearms that make their way from private hands through the Rock Island Auction Company usually sell for anywhere between tens of thousands up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. However, a few select items often fetch much higher prices stretching all the way into seven-figure territory. We previously reported that Han Solo’s DL-44 Blaster pistol from the 1977 film Star Wars would be going up for auction at the end of August. With the conclusion of the August 2022 Rock Island Premier Firearms Auction, we’ve finally got the results and were surprised to hear that the DL-44 Heavy Blaster pistol prop sold for a whopping $1,057,500. In a contract worth around $50 million, Leonardo DRS, Inc. will deliver thermal weapon sights to the Swedish Ministry of Defense. The order is for more than 4,600 thermal weapon sights, including the Individual Weapon Sight (IWS) and Individual Weapon Sight – Long Range (IWS-LR) variants.

Today, they have unveiled their new 1911 DS Prodigy AOS. This is a double-stack 1911-style handgun with an Agency Optic System (AOS) to fit all of your favorite, modern red dot optics.

LaRue Tactical from Leander, Texas, has just launched a new bolt-action rifle called Siete. The main caliber is 6.5 Creedmoor with a 23″ barrel length, but thanks to a quick-detachable, free-floating handguard and a quick-change barrel, you will have four more caliber options. The chassis and the action are CNC machined from billet aluminum.

The internet has been abuzz with discussions of the new ATF “receiver rule,” which became effective on August 24, 2022. Most of that conversation has focused on changes that affect the so-called 80% receivers. However, this regulation made changes in other areas as well. Let’s take a look at how this rule will work.

Yet again, an “assault weapons ban” has been proposed in the United States. HR 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022, has passed the House of Representatives and been sent to the Senate. What is in this bill, and how would it work if it were passed? Well, dear reader, let’s take a look at the bill and how it both compares and differs from the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.

Suppressors have become an incredibly popular firearms accessory in the two previous decades and have gone from relative obscurity to being at the top of almost every hunter’s and shooter’s wishlist. However, many suppressors use wildly different mounting solutions and as a result, you’ll almost always have to dip into a completely different mounting solution environment if you want to switch the type of suppressor that is currently on your gun. SAAMI is aiming to change that with the announcement that they’ve published  Suppressor Thread and Socket Drawings in an effort to develop standards for firearm suppressors.

SIG Sauer has notified its customers of a potential defect that could exist within specific lots of their 115-grain 9mm Elite Ball ammunition. According to SIG, these lots could have potential powder charge variations that could result in a squib (bullet remaining within the barrel). Obviously, an unnoticed squib could potentially turn into a fatal event should a second round be fired into the bore obstruction. SIG’s recall includes an immediate request for customers to not use this lot of ammunition. The full product recall notice is posted below for your convenience.

These new production stocks are made by MKE in Turkey and imported with cooperation from Century Arms. This past week through social media and email, VLTOR Weapons Systems announced a price increase on all of their products which went into effect at 11:59pm on July 31st. In a letter posted to their Facebook page, VLTOR Weapons Systems cited increasing costs of labor, energy, and raw materials for the price hike.

Earlier this year, SAAMI accepted the 16th Weatherby cartridge, the .338 Weatherby Rebated Precision Magnum (.338 WBY RPM). Weatherby has now officially introduced the .338 WBY RPM cartridge and announced the availability of ammunition and rifles chambered in this new caliber.

The Springfield Armory Hellcat is one of the most popular high-capacity micro 9mm pistols on the market. It is already available in several versions, including “OSP” optics-ready versions and Flat Dark Earth models. New two-tone models will soon be available for those wanting a different look.

The state of Florida is pretty well known for its fairly gun-friendly laws. While the American South, in general, can be considered somewhat of a very pro-gun area, the Sunshine State (or Gunshine State as I like to call it) has always ranked pretty highly in my head in terms of states that have less restrictive gun laws and also a place that has a pretty healthy pro-firearms market. However, today I learned that Florida actually ranks pretty low both in terms of the number of gun stores per capita, as well as the total number of gun sales per capita, at least according to research done through the efforts of the Small Arms Survey.

The KP-15 monolithic polymer lower receiver has been a great success. The KP-15 provides regular citizens with an affordable and fairly durable lower receiver that is also lightweight to boot and reduces the total number of individual parts needed to complete an AR-15 rifle. In a bit of recent news, GWACS Armory has made the decision to sue Russel Phagan, Brownells, and Shawn Nealon (inventor of the original CAV-15) for alleged NDA and trade secret violations in regards to the KP-15. In total, 5 different parties are being sued by GWACS. In response, Russell has made the decision to address these allegations both publically and in official court documents with supporting documents that have been filed and are now public. Russel has given TFB permission to publish these documents in the hopes that they will shed light on the situation so that the KP-15 project, which he believes directly supports the rights of all free people to be armed, can continue. The Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation ( OCCAR) has signed an amendment to an existing contract for binocular night vision goggles on behalf of Belgium and Germany. The contract is worth a mid-three-digit million amount, in Euros. The follow-up contract will be executed by the newly founded joint venture HENSOLDT Theon Night Vision, which TFB recently wrote about.
