The Ruger SR22 is a fun, compact-sized 22LR pistol that comes in various configurations and varieties ranging from a bone stock pistol all the way up to some raced-out versions from the folks at Talo and Iron Valley distributors. Ruger announced on April 4th, 2022 that they had discovered that a small number of pistols might have left and right frame inserts that are not properly secured together which in some cases can cause the internal safety mechanisms to not function properly causing an accidental discharge upon activating the decocker/safety. A lot of us who are into night vision devices or want to have the same equipment that the US government has access to will spend a lot of time and money trying to acquire these things through legal means. Not so for 3 individuals who were recently charged with the theft of nearly $2,200,000 worth of military equipment from Fort Hood including IR Laser illuminators, AN-PRC-117 radios, and thermal optics. Two US Army veterans plus one civilian businessman have since been charged with conspiracy to commit theft of government property.

One of the biggest hurdles for most people when it comes to buying a suppressor (aside from the high upfront cost) is the fact that suppressors or other ATF Form 4 items usually take somewhere between 6-months to over a year to get back approved. For many, this means that their hard spent cash is sitting in a safe somewhere until a piece of paper with a stamp on it comes back to them almost a year later. However, according to Silencer Shop, the long waits seem to be over with the introduction of the ATF’s eForm process which Silencer Shop has seen bring back approved forms in as little as 6 days.

A new Vortex Strike Eagle has landed, and it’s a very welcome and interesting one. The new Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 is an LPVO with a First Focal Plane (FFP) reticle, giving you red dot-like characteristics at 1x as well as accurate holdovers at any magnification out to 600 yards.

MidwayUSA announced a while back that they had begun construction on the single largest project in the company’s entire history – a new distribution center. MidwayUSA, like the rest of the gun industry, has seen explosive growth over the last 10 years and as a result, the team at one of the most popular online gun and sporting goods stores had to take a hard look at where they can increase efficiency to keep up with customer demand in a timely manner. Now at the start of 2022, MidwayUSA is in the final stages of completing its new 400,000 square foot distribution center which should help keep lead times down to a minimum.

Arms of America, an importer and seller of Kalashnikov rifles, pistols and parts kits, has announced that it is supporting Ukraine with every case of Russian ammo sold. All proceeds from these sales will be donated directly to a Ukrainian charity. This is unsurprising given Arms of America’s founding by combat veterans as well as close ties to WBP Rogow of Poland.

When it comes to distributing firearm products, there seems to be a lot of gaps that are left unfilled with information or product information when it finally makes it to market. That is why the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers has been working on their new SCOPE PLX (Product Link Exchange) platform which aims to standardize products across the industry between the manufacturers, and distributors.

In the fall of 2021, FEDEX completely stopped all private party shipping of handguns which left customers with only a single entity to ship handguns with – UPS. For 2022, FedEx also announced that it wouldn’t be handling any shipping of firearms unless the shipping person bears an FFL. This is where ShipMyGun comes in. ShipMyGun.com aims to give customers a more affordable way to ship their firearms over the standard rates provided to people through normal UPS channels which can be quite expensive.

A recall notice has been issued by the Olight company in regards to two of their EDC flashlight models. Olight and the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall for over 200,000 M2R Pro and Warrior Mini flashlights over concerns regarding inadvertent activation and overheating which could pose a burn hazard. Olight is offering customers either replacements or store credit in excess of the value of the original flashlight. The full recall notice has been posted below for your convenience.

The Italian Firearms Group (IFG) was established in 2010 and imports guns of the following four Italian gunmakers: F.A.I.R., Sabatti, Pedersoli and last but not least Tanfoglio. IFG and Tanfoglio have expanded their relationship and from now on Tanfoglio will only be available from IFG’s family of dealers and distributors.

Brooksville, Florida-based Adams Arms have been fulfilling a contract to produce carbines for Ukraine. Adams Arms haven’t stipulated which branch of the Ukrainian Armed Forces or Security Services the carbines are for but they stated that they have been working on orders for the past few months. The carbines appear to be  Adams Arms’s P1 model which has a Picatinny railed gas block with 3 adjustable settings and M4-style furniture. From the footage shown of the rifles, they do not appear to be select fire.

With the events in Ukraine still unfolding, some companies have kept quiet while others have spoken out. ATN Corp is one of the latter. ATN Corp shows no intention of keeping its voice muffled, and has announced its support for Ukraine against Russia’s invading forces.

SIG Sauer filed a lawsuit against Jeffrey S. Bagnell, Esq., LLC, and Jeffrey S. Bagnell (the individual) alleging misrepresentations in an animated video of the internals of the P320 pistol. SIG claims that the animation is “plainly false and inaccurate.” The respondent’s website states that the animation was based on “ CT scan images and microscopic photography.”

Henry Repeating Arms shipped its first H001 Classic .22 rifle in March of 1997.  25 Years, 200 different models, and a ton of rifle and shotgun sales later, Henry is celebrating being a vibrant part of the US firearms industry for a quarter-century.  Their lineup doesn’t just include lever actions, either, being that they produce a variant of the semiautomatic AR-7, as well as break-action, bolt action, and pump action firearms.

An unnamed special forces unit from a European country has chosen the FN FCU Mk3 Fire Control Unit for their 40 mm multi-shot grenade launchers. The FCU Mk3 makes target engagement fast and very accurate, day or night and increases the hit probability of the 40mm grenade system. It is powered by a single CR123 battery, and the system can reach out to 1000 meters. A few years ago the control unit was chosen by Germany for their Infantryman of the Future.

TriStar Arms has been offering years of quality service with a wide selection of firearms including pistols, shotguns, and rifles for just about every discipline of shooting. Most recently popular among their products are probably TriStar’s line of Bristol SxS shotguns which feature steel frames and precision laser engraved dovetails. The company has just completed its third facility expansion in just 7 years in a bid to meet the increasing demand for their firearms that they’ve experienced year over year.

The Canadian government has confirmed that shipments of ‘lethal’ military aid will be shipped to Ukraine as the crisis with Russia continues. The military aid will take the form of small arms and ammunition and will follow earlier non-lethal equipment which has already been sent by Canada.

The single-shot, disposable, recoilless smoothbore 84 mm anti-tank weapon AT4 made by SAAB has a new customer on the list. The Indian Armed Forces have ordered an unknown amount of the model AT4CS AST, to be used by the Indian Army and Indian Air Force. In total, more than 1 million AT4’s have been produced.

In the grand scheme of things, rocket motors aren’t too far off from black powder propellants in terms of what both compounds do. Estes Energetics, a newly formed company born from the well-known Estes Industries rocket motor company, has made plans to continue the legacy that the GOEX has built by acquiring the company from Hodgdon. Back in September of 2021, Hodgdon made the decision to shut down the GOEX production facility which was a disappointment to both black powder shooters and general gun owners alike. Thankfully, the small model rocket motor company has not only picked up the GOEX line but has created an entirely new company around it.

You read that title right, Expansion Industries have just announced that they will be opening up a new facility in what used to be the Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant. The new facility will be located near the company’s headquarters in Carrollton, TX. With the last couple of years being nearly hopeless for handloaders in terms of primer availability, this new facility may prove to be not only extremely lucrative for Expansion Industries but extremely beneficial to the reloading community which should now have another primer selection option over the big four existing producers.

Goodbye Dragunov SVD and 7.62×54mmR! Welcome CZ Bren 2 PPS and 7.62x51mm!  The Czech Army (Armáda České republiky) has ordered a total of 350 pieces of the new CZ Bren 2 PPS rifles. The rifle is made by Česká zbrojovka a.s. (CZ) on the basis of the CZ Bren 2, which in turn was developed from the 805 BREN in caliber 5.56x45mm or 7.62x39mm.

Byrna Technologies produces civilian less-lethal products that fire .68 caliber projectiles. The flagship of the lineup is the SD model, which is laid out like a handgun. Each magazine contains an 8 gram CO2 cartridge and five projectiles. Byrna claims a 60-foot effective range for the SD.

Umarex USA is a major producer of air guns. Their booth at SHOT Show 2022 was loaded with new models across multiple product lines.

Strategic Armory Corps owns many notable brands, including Armalite, McMillan Firearms, Surgeon Rifles, and AWC Silencers. SAC had a large booth at SHOT Show 2022 with all sorts of products on display.

Retro guns have been undergoing a renaissance lately, with an increasing number of manufacturers offering firearms that appeal to more classic tastes. Many SHOT Show 2022 vendors displayed wares of interest for the carry handle gang or vintage enthusiasts, or just people who already have plenty of modern guns and just want something different.

The concept of a suppressor wrap or suppressor cover isn’t a new one and technically the MODTAC Rigid suppressor cover isn’t new either. However, the cover is new for me and is also new to the Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro bolt action rifle. So what makes the MODTAC Rigid suppressor cover so special? First off, most suppressor covers accomplish their job by being made out of extremely heat-resistant material similar to an oven mitt. However, these materials have their limits and still transfer heat directly through the medium into your hand after a certain threshold. The MODTAC Rigid suppressor cover takes a different approach and at the same time, reduces the weight that you’ll have to carry around for the benefits.

Auto Mag made a special appearance this year during SHOT Show 2022 Industry Dat at the Range via Palmetto State Armory. PSA graciously offered Auto Mag a spot at their lane so that the company could show off the latest functional improvements to the legendary .44 Auto Mag pistol. We were able to speak with Patrick Henry, owner of Auto Mag Ltd., Co about the pistol and he showed us two variants of the pistol. We also got a chance to finally shoot the pistol after seeing it displayed on the showroom for the past 6 years.

Warne Scope Mounts is (unsurprisingly) known as a manufacturer of scope mounting solutions, but they are now a holster maker as well. Their new Every Day Carry line includes holsters for OWB, IWB, and alternative carry methods, like chest holsters.

Bergara and CVA (a sister company) released new models in their lineups of bolt action rifles. Bergara has three new models in their Premier series, which is their higher-tier product line. The MgLite pairs Bergara’s new line of Cure carbon fiber wrapped barrels with a magnesium XLR Element chassis. This combination makes for a chassis rifle weighing less than 7 pounds.
