One of the manufacturers attending this year’s SHOT Show Pop-Up Preview (held for one day only) was Washington state-based Icarus Precision LLC. They specialise in quality machine products not just in the firearms sector but also in the auto industry too.

Mirzon, a Washington state-based manufacturer, had their new Enhanced Grip Module for the SIG Sauer P320 and P250 on display at this year’s SHOT Show. Mirzon’s after-market frames for the popular SIG pistols offers a significant ergonomic upgrade.

New from Kinetic Research Group (KRG) for 2020 is the KRG Bravo stock made to fit both the Ruger 10/22 and the CZ 457.  MSRP starts at $249 intro pricing for the 10/22 Bravo and $369 for the CZ-457 Bravo.  The 10/22 stock weighs in at 2.8lb, and the 457 at 2.9lb.  The 10/22 stock would be good for a youth fit, with a minimum LOP of only 11.1″.  Colors will be red, grey, FDE and black for the Ruger and green, grey, FDE and black for the 457.  This author is currently testing a Bravo stock with a Tikka T1x, and can say with confidence it is an excellent piece of gear.

Overwatch Precision‘s primary offering has been Glock parts, most notably their “TAC” trigger kits. Last fall they even released a tongue-in-cheek seasonal “Pumpkin Spice” edition. Now Overwatch is expanding their offerings by bringing some of that TAC trigger goodness to several additional pistols. The lucky recipients will be the M&P Shield 2.0, the CZ P10C/S/F family, as well as Walther’s Q5 SF and PPQ series.

With a growing number of companies making different types of fixed iron sights, I’ve been getting a ton of questions on what’s best. Some say red dot only is best while others say having fixed or back up irons to co-witness with are great too. Both styles have their advantages depending on what your needs are out of your gun. Our friend Sebastian Unger (aka homegunsmithunger), inventor of the innovative “ Topside Takedown 10/22 Receiver” has been working hard to find a manufacturing partner for his unique twist on a classic firearm design. In the middle of his prototyping phase, he has designed something equally unique: a 3D Printed Receiver for Ruger 10/22 style rimfire rifles.

If you recall, CROM USA made a chassis for the Ruger PC Carbine that allows you to use a Magpul Mossberg SGA stock. Well they have taken another Magpul product and modified it for use on the Ruger PC Carbine. The ZhuCROM is a modified Zhukov AK handguard and it will be available soon.

Yesterday on social media, Magpul Industries posted an image featuring the scorpion-emblazoned jacket worn by Ryan Gosling’s character in the 2011 film “Drive”. They overlaid a date and teased “We’ve got good news for Scorpion fans tomorrow. Stay tuned.” They have since followed up by announcing that three new USA-made Magpul products for CZ’s popular Scorpion family are now shipping to distributors. The new offerings include a replacement pistol grip, an enhanced magazine release, and a 35-round PMAG. Rounding out the announcement is a two-minute video discussing features and benefits, and Magpul has updated their social media profile photos with a scorpion-themed version of the classic “M” logo.

As a minor point of order, most of the below-listed suggestions are not dedicated gunsmithing tools – they are simply excellent hand tools that are most commonly used for weapon maintenance and upgrades. So when you aren’t switching barrels or swapping handguards, go ahead and use them to assemble that IKEA crib that will last you one to three seasons. These top tools are obvious picks – torque wrenches/drivers, brass punches, a solid vise – and shouldn’t need any explanations. Instead, let’s go through some guidance on how to protect your new, and costly, investments.

The wait is over – Geissele has finally released their Super MPX SSA trigger for SIG’s popular pistol caliber carbines and pistol caliber pistols. While the OEM SIG MPX trigger is certainly above average for a carbine, pulling a G trigger for the first time really is an eye opening experience. Pricing is set at an MSRP of $350 which makes me want to curl up into the fetal position.
