In the world of small carry guns, there are a few firearms that really are starting to shine. The Glock 43x, the Springfield Hellcat and the P365 series from SIG Sauer. Welcome everyone to the TFB Armorer’s Bench! As mentioned in the little blurb, this series will focus on a lot of home armorer and gunsmith activities. In this article sponsored by  WheelerTiptonCaldwell, and  Frankford Arsenal, I decided to have a good old field strip article coupled with just a few tips on picking up older firearms. This will be a relatively laid-back run-through since I am currently a little under the weather and unable to head out to the shop or dive into something more intensive. That all being said, let us dive right into the precautions of picking up older firearms as well as field stripping a Mauser 1914 pistol!

TFB Armorer's Bench: Education on Bluing Types & Processes - Part 1

Welcome everyone to the TFB Armorer’s Bench! As mentioned in the little blurb, this series will focus on a lot of home armorer and gunsmith activities. In this article sponsored by  WheelerTiptonCaldwell, and  Frankford Arsenal, I decided it would be fun to briefly touch on firearm finishes (specifically bluing this time) and how the process works at a glance. Personally, this is something I thoroughly enjoyed while going to school for gunsmithing. There is something about turning a pretty boring chunk of steel into a polished and beautifully blued work of art. There is definitely more than just bluing out there. Allow me to narrow it down and hopefully elaborate!

In this article sponsored by  WheelerTiptonCaldwell, and  Frankford Arsenal, I decided to heat things up and work with some liquid metal! Today I am going to briefly cover chamber casting. I tend to work with a lot of older firearms since it is kind of in my wheelhouse and interests so this can sometimes leave me questioning the chambering of a particular firearm. Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures of a recent chamber cast but what I do have are some photos of the process of casting a revolver cylinder in order to determine what cartridge it is made for. Let’s dive right into Chamber Casting!

The easiest way to get a stable shot is to rest your firearm. The simplest and most convenient way of doing this is by attaching a bipod. The modern rifle is a major improvement upon older designs in many aspects. One of the most important improvements is the expansive modularity and aftermarket that come along with each firearm. As rifles gained the ability to be easily customized, folks began to buy all of the coolest accessories. The problem with this is real estate. There is only so much space on one gun. So, some companies began to combine certain accessories. The latest example of this comes from Strike Industries. Combining a vertical grip with a bipod, this is the Strike Bipod Grip.
