JMac Customs RRD-4C "12" Muzzle Brake for SAIGA and VEPR Shotguns

JMac Customs has released the shotgun version of their RRD-4C series of muzzle brakes/muzzle rise compensators. The versions for AK-style rifles have gained a fairly good reputation among AK enthusiasts. The success of the general design has eventually lead to designing the scaled-up version for Vepr 12 and Saiga 12 shotguns.

Peter Hofer Extreme Double Rifles [Arms & Hunting 2017]

Peter Hofer pushes the boundaries of double rifle design to its extremes. Nothing demonstrates that better than a double rifle chambered in .17 HMR displayed near the one chambered in 4-bore. We had a chance to see these rifles during the Arms & Hunting 2017 exhibition.

A bunch of DIY weapons seized in Brazil - Part 1

Like everywhere else where legal gun ownership is strongly complicated by basic laws and unbelievable bureaucratic procedures, it’s expected that illegal, homemade DIY weaponry abound in Brazil. The final products range from finely tuned, decent-looking guns to scary-looking examples that would seem not to go past a first-and-only shot! There are also those that are not firearms at all, having just been put together to look like real (or almost) McCoys, so that their bearers might look “armed”.

Review: Mossberg 590 Shockwave

After playing with the Mossberg Shockwave for the first time at the last SHOT Show Range Day, I wanted one. Thanks to some enabling from my friend Brian M. I picked up a Mossberg Shockwave at a local gun store for $380 out the door. Not terrible.

Black Aces Tactical Quad Rail and Side Shell Holder for Mossberg Shockwave

Black Aces Tactical makes an upgrade kit for the  Mossberg 590 Shockwave shotgun … I mean “firearm”. It consists of a quad rail with a full-length top Picatinny rail and short front rail sections on 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions. The second part of this set is the side shell holder. It also comes with a magazine spike which seems to be a limited time offer.

NEW: Nighthawk Tomahawk 12GA Firearm

Ok, I know what you are thinking. A tricked out 12 gauge Nighthawk ‘firearm’ is going to be priced somewhere between the moon and New York City (great tune, by the way). And you are right, the MSRP is on the high side. So instead of insulting your intelligence by trying to explain features and specifications that make the numbers add up, I’m just going to leave everything here for your review. Doesn’t fit your needs and/or budget? No problem. But it will fit in someone’s safe.

Review: Lever Action Clay Blasting with the Henry .410 Shotgun

Some firearms, while very fun to shoot, do not command a lot of interest or attention at the range.  The new Henry lever action shotguns in .410, however, not only are a blast to bust clays with, but I had more people coming up and asking questions than with any other shotgun I’ve ever brought to the range.  While shattering multiple clays out of the sky while working a lever was a new experience for me, it became a whole lot of fun.  In fact, the Henry H018-410 has become my favorite gun to take to long afternoons of busting clays.

10 Most Expensive Firearms Sold in September 2017 Rock Island Premiere Firearms Auction

If you read The Firearm Blog on a regular basis, then you must remember that earlier we have published articles identical to this one. We’ve been looking at the ten most expensive firearms sold in main auctions of America’s largest firearm auction houses: James D. Julia and Rock Island Auction. This article is no different than those previous ones except it covers the top ten of highest priced guns of the latest September 2017 Rock Island premiere firearms auction. In our list, we have the prices realized, which include the hammer price plus 15% “buyer’s premium” which is the auction house’s fee. As always, the list goes in price ascendancy order with the least expensive being the number 10 and the most expensive being the number one. The firearm names also link to the corresponding RIA page, where you can read more detailed descriptions and see more and higher resolution images of the guns.

TFB REVIEW: Remington 870 Tac14 12 Gauge Firearm – With A Twist

Any Other Weapon (AOW) shotgun gauge firearms have never really interested me. If you are going to go through all the time and effort to buy a chopped-down scattergun, spend the extra $195 and go hog wild with a short barreled shotgun (SBS). If you need any more convincing, making an existing shotgun into either an AOW or SBS costs the same in National Firearms Act (NFA) taxes – $200. As an alternative, you can skip the tax, the registration, the wait and paperwork and head directly to sumpy 12 gauge bliss with the Remington 870 TAC14.

FIME Group Reports Only 400 Vepr 12 Shotguns Remain For US Sale

Back in June, we reported that the US Department of Treasury had added Molot-Oruzhie to the sanctions list. As a result, further import of the 12 gauge shotgun based on Kalashnikov’s design as well as any other product that Molot might produce is no longer importable. FIME Group is the sole US importer of Molot-Oruzhie firearms and have reported that their inventory is rather low. They say that only 400 Vepr 12 shotguns remain. After the 400 are sold, FIME says there will not be any more in the foreseeable future due to the sanctions.

The "Best" Home Defense Gun

If you’re a gun guy, odds are pretty good that non-gun people often ask your opinion on things. At least, People often make the mistake of asking my opinion, anyway. I guess they figure that just because I write about and make videos about guns, that my opinion is worth listening to. Of course you, dear reader, know that my opinion is worth every cent you paid for it. Still, I should probably indulge these poor, misguided souls. To that end, I’m going to answer some of these more common questions in a series of articles. Today, we’re going to cover the ever popular “best” home defense gun.

Shooting Down DRONES: Does the Future of War Look Like Terminator Skeet?

It’s no secret that the field of war is changing, and that fact is just as true for the infantryman as it is the F-35 Lightning II pilot. Increasingly, small, inexpensive, expendable drones are being used as intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets, as well as delivery platforms for light ordnance as well as kamikaze weapons. Today, the use of drones in this manner is in its infancy, but the next generation of purpose-built light combat drones is being designed and built right now. Israeli firms like Duke Robotics and UVision have already created armed and kamikaze (respectively) drone systems, and combatants in the Iraqi and Syrian Civil Wars famously used drones as delivery platforms for 40mm grenades. The use of civilian light drones as “snooping” devices has already spurred the development of anti-drone weapons for security forces, including both electromagnetic “rifles” that zap drones to take control of them, as well as more crude (but still effective) anti-drone shotgun payloads.

Beretta 1301 Magpul Stock Adapter By Aridus Industries

For a few months Aridus Industries has been teasing the industry with photos of a Beretta 1301 with a Magpul SGA stock. Nathan S. posted about it back in May. Well Aridus Stock Adapter (ASA) is now up for pre-order for $75. Aridus Industries is also running a separate pre-order package deal with a Magpul SGA Stock for $160. The package deal means you get a Magpul SGA stock for only $85. Not bad for that stock. Aridus Industries is using a Mossberg Magpul SGA stock for their ASA. It will not work with a Remington SGA stock. The SGA Stock and ASA package deal is only available through the pre-order until September 15. After that, Aridus Industries will no longer be carrying the SGA stock on their website.

Ok, none of this is that exciting; slightly interesting maybe, but not exciting. Let’s take a look.

New Russian 9.6x53mm Lancaster Cartridge and .366 TKM News

The idea of .366 TKM cartridge was accepted really well in the Russian shooting community. What makes it unique for them is that firearms chambered in this caliber have partially rifled barrels which qualify as a shotgun in Russia and don’t require 5 year wait period for the first-time gun owners to obtain a rifled firearm. That rifled portion (about 135mm or so) is considered a built-in rifled choke (a.k.a. Paradox choke). In other words, they can buy these sort of small caliber slug cartridges and guns right off the shelf and still have somewhat rifle grade accuracy and power at moderate ranges (100 to 300 meters). In the video below a camera travels down the .366 TKM barrel (starting from the muzzle). Note how riflings start to disappear at some point and the bore becomes completely smooth.

500 Round Torture Test Of Mossberg 500

Burst Review sacrifices himself for all of us by shooting 500 rounds of 2 & 3/4 bird shot. A couple months ago I submitted myself to something similar when I tested the new CROM by Aridus Industries. We shot 400 rounds which were mostly buck shot and a box of slugs. However I only shot half that much and Adam of Aridus shot the other half. As I mentioned in my review, the ported barrel and lengthened forcing cone helped to save our shoulders. I can sympathize with Jim of Burst Review with regards to having a dead left arm. Racking the pump even for 200 rounds was tedious, I can onl imagine having to do that another 300 times.
