The CBC Pump 12 Military/LE shotgun (a.k.a. Taurus ST-12)

The name of Brazil’s CBC (Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos) is almost immediately associated with ammunition manufacture, since this has been the company’s main area of activities since it was founded by two Italian immigrants in São Paulo back in 1926. In the 1960s, however, industrial activities were expanded with the production of single-barrel, break-action shotguns, first exports to the United States being recorded in 1966 and eventually reaching over 1.5 million units in the years that followed. The year 1990 marked the actual internationalization of the company with the creation of the Magtech brand and wide distribution in foreign countries, consolidated in 2003 with the addition of a sales branch in Hamburg, Germany. In 2007, CBC acquired all the assets of the German military and LE ammunition manufacturer MEN, followed two years later by the acquisition of the renowned Czech Sellier & Bellot ammo maker. Little known, but of foremost importance, was the 2015 stock control acquisition of Forjas Taurus by CBC.

Scalarworks Takes Their Lightweight VooDoo to the Benelli M4 & Aimpoint

While the picatinny rail is a highly versatile mounting system, it is certainly lacking in the svelte department. Where quad rails equipped with the system are affectionately known as “cheese graters” by those who have been equipped with them, you know its not the most elegant solution to mounting. On the flip side, its highly versatile, allowing for nearly anything to be equipped versus purpose-built solutions.

Review: Benelli 828U Shotgun

I’ve always liked the design, looks, handling, and shootability of Benelli shotguns.  My first hunting shotgun was a Benelli.  I’ve busted many clays and brought home a few “in-flight meals” with that shotgun over the years.  I also have gotten a lot of use out of their Ultralight, M2, M3, and Legacy shotguns.  I was surprised, however to find out that Benelli, long known for inertia and gas operated semi auto guns, was going to be producing a break-open shotgun.  This project became known as the 828U.  I did not get to try one at SHOT 2015,  but one of my fellow range members acquired one last summer and I was able to try it out.  Though it is a bit different in feel and operation than more traditional break-open designs, I came away with a positive impression and finally acquired one of my own.

Bullpup Side by Side Shotgun Concept from Finland

Halenius Holding Company of Finland has designed a bullpup side by side shotgun, which they’ve introduced in IWA 2017. So you think “bullpup SbS shotgun” already sounds unusual? Then how about this: it is also meant to be fired without aiming – just by pointing. The owner of the company Aleksi Halenius says that you don’t need to aim it in a traditional way. Instead, you just extend your arm which holds the gun and it will hit the target at which you are pointing it.

Eyewear Cameras for Competition/LE usage

iVUE is an eyewear company that produces sunglasses that have an integrated camera system in the bridge of the frame and can record 1080p footage at the press of a button. The company has been around for several years now and customer videos using their products have been on Youtube in that time as well. Although I’m singling out iVUE because they are the only eyewear camera product that has seen extensive usage in the shooting sports, there are a multitude of eyewear products out there that can do the same, if not a better job of capturing what appears to be the best “First Person” angle footage we have seen. Previously this sort of footage is reserved to helmet cameras such as the Contour, GoPro head kits, and even body cameras as worn by many Law Enforcement officers these days. All of these are good pieces of kit, but sometimes they don’t get that true first person footage that we are constantly striving for, to see pretty much what that person was seeing while they were taking the footage.

5 Function Shotgun Ultimate Primer Punch

While I was checking out Keith Products Co machine shop, Keith’s friend Rudy of CreativeReloadingSolutions stopped by. Rudy had Keith help him make his Ultimate Primer Punch. Now I don’t shoot enough shotgun that I need to reload shells but I have a grasp of the concept. However there are issues I was not aware of until Rudy went thru the process with me. Of course you need to punch out the primer and swag the shell just like you do when you reload brass ammunition. What I was not aware of is that the primer pockets tend to get stretched a bit and the only solution is to use an over sized primer. Well Rudy’s primer punch does five different functions all on station 1 of your shotgun shell reloader.
