Sons of Liberty Gun Works has a surprise new release, an M16-A5 sold exclusively through Primary Arms. “But there is no M16-A5!” the cloner may exclaim. Well, there is one now, and you can buy it.

The name FN can spark either controversy or praise depending on who you ask about them, and more importantly, what exact product you’re talking about. A little while back I had the rare opportunity to run an FN SCAR 17 absolutely ragged for about three days in the desert – something that I think not a lot of civilian rifles ever get to experience. While the SCAR 17 nearly killed the Trijicon VCOG that was attached to it, the rifle itself managed to keep running, without any malfunctions for the entire week in which about 500+ rounds of .308 ball ammo were shot through it. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has had extensive experience with FN’s vast product line as they carry a reputation for having some of the best “combat-proven” equipment in the industry. However, the big downside to all that is that most of their highly sought-after AR-15 rifles and barrels are somewhat overpriced according to some. One prime example of this is FN’s 15 DRM3 and TAC 3 rifles which both cost nearly $2000 but are known for being some of the best “duty grade” off-the-shelf AR-15s available. This is simply not the case with the new FN Guardian, which comes in at an MSRP of $999 and can now be found for a street price of around $875. But does the FN Guardian still maintain the legendary reliability and accuracy that FN’s AR-15s are known for? We’ll find out in today’s review!

During the TriggrCon 2023, VKTR Industries, a gun company from House Springs, Missouri, released a new piston-operated AR15-pattern rifle called VK-1. This rifle was designed in collaboration with Paul Leitner-Wise, has eight patents protecting its different components’ designs and has received the TriggrCon 2023 Golden Triggr Award for Most Innovative Long Gun. Let’s take a look at the specs and features of the new VKTR Industries VK-1 rifle.

James is at TriggrCon 2023 speaking with the guys at Genesis about their 8.6mm PDW, which is ultimately both competition with the Q Boombox, but also a complimentary platform that will make 8.6mm more attractive for potential buyers as more manufacturers start supporting this revolutionary new caliber. Bottom line, this is an insanely powerful, low-recoiling rifle in a package about the same size as an H&K MP5.

Known for their UDP-9 and UDP-45 pistol caliber carbines as well as their roller-delayed AR-9 platforms, Angstadt Arms is debuting a line of integrally suppressed 9mm barrels, upper receiver groups, and complete firearms. The Angstadt Arms Vanquish ISR system features a ported barrel and an adjustable baffleless suppressor that can eliminate the need for subsonic ammunition. Pricing starts at $585. TFBTV Show Time stopped by the Rock River Arms booth to check out this absolute monster of an AR from Rock River Arms, the LAR-BT6 chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. Intended for those looking for bolt-action precision in a semi-auto package, the LAR-BT6 is supposed to be the perfect combination of both. This rifle is expected to start rolling out towards the end of Q4 2023 and should retail for about $5,500 according to the Rock River Arms website.

San Tan Tactical have announced that they will be moving to Fort Worth, Texas in a move aimed at lowering costs and growing the company with a larger, more efficient facility. The move will see the company relocate from Chandler, Arizona. San Tan Tactical offer a range of ambidextrous AR-pattern rifles and pistols across their STT-15 and 6ARC series as well as a variety of parts.

HERA Arms from Germany have an interesting product in their “7SIX2“, which of course comes from the caliber 7.62 mm. It’s basically a semi-automatic AR clone with a 16.75″ barrel, a KeyMod handguard, an HRS buttstock and a sports compensator. The price is around 2,959.00 EUR, roughly the same in US dollars.  

Griffin Armament have introduced the second generation of their AR-15 pattern rifles. The main difference of the new Griffin Armament MK2 family of rifles from the MK1 guns is the new lower receiver that has ambidextrous controls (magazine release button, bolt catch/release, safety lever). The word Dissipator means different things to different people, but the Anderson take has a “proper” rifle-length gas system on a carbine-length barrel, mated to an M16 style lower. Beretta have unveiled their new rifle, the New Assault Rifle Platform or NARP. According to EDR, NARP is the name of the development program rather than the rifle itself, with the weapon to be named at a later date.

Sadly, it seems that Windham Weaponry is closing its doors for good. They broke the news in a statement posted on their website on Monday, September 11, 2023. They will cease taking web orders on September 12th.

If you always wanted to own a Geissele rifle but could never afford one, then the new El Jefe rifle must be interesting to you. This rifle is made by Geissele Automatics but it’s sold under the ALG Defense brand (Geissele’s sister company). With an MSRP of $1,199, the El Jefe rifle is $900 cheaper than the most affordable Geissele-branded rifle. The differences between the El Jefe and Geissele rifles of comparable configuration are in materials, manufacturing techniques and finishes.

During a video introducing some new products published on 31 August, Bill Geissele announced that Geissele’s submission to US SOCOM’s MRGG-S (Mid-Range Gas Gun) program had been selected. The new rifle appears to have beaten out rival designs from other down-selected companies, including FN and LMT.

There were over 170 competitors in the match.

Thanks for joining us on TFB’s Photo Of The Day, where we’re not above showing you our mistakes, whether they will buff out or not. In today’s edition, you’re looking at a recent mishap where I was more focused on looking through my optic than I was making sure my muzzle was still far enough forward on my bag. In this particular case, I was running out of range time, making haste… and waste. The good news is that the zipper runners were both on the other side of the pouch, so I’ll be sewing up the zipper and patching the hole. This will hopefully mean that I’m only missing a couple inches of usable zipper space, this will buff out right?

Bear Creek Arsenal’s 300 Win Mag HuntMaster is built around a completely new AR platform, the BC-8. The BC-8 oversized design allows for long action chamberings like the 300 Winchester Magnum but with parts compatibility with existing AR-15 and AR-10 designs. This aims to be the ultimate hunting rifle, feeding from a five-round double-stack double-feed magazine.  I was one of the lucky few that were sent one of these rifles for review, and here’s what I found.

Firearms are not unique in their contentious relationship with dust and dirt. Any machine that gets foreign material in its operating system is bound to fail eventually.
