FN Adds NEW Slick-side Guardian to FN 15 Rifle Series

With the current level of violence and uncertainty that seems to be neverending, more and more people are unlocking the First-Time Gunowner achievement. I see this happening personally, as friends who were previously only interested in concealed carry are asking me for advice on buying AR-15s. One of the biggest barriers to most is cost, especially if you want a quality rifle. Known for quality ARs, FN has expanded its FN 15 line to include the slick-side Guardian, a rifle sitting right at $1,000.

POTD: The Stormtrooper

Photo Of The Day and if you want your work to go unnoticed this is not the place, as we get quite a few views in these daily articles. IDEX 2023: CAR 816 "Sultan" Rifle From Caracal UAE

In the last 30 years, we witnessed how easy it is for a country to lose its firearms manufacturing capability: the UK, France, Portugal, and Spain are prime examples. And building such a capability from scratch is extremely difficult, and UAE and “Caracal” seems to be one of the few successful examples. Founded in 2007, “Caracal” develops and manufactures handguns, sniper rifles, and perhaps their most well-known product – CAR 816, a select-fire short-stroke gas piston AR15 variant chambered in 5.56×45.

TFB Review: The Full-Featured SIG M400 SDI XSERIES

SIG Sauer has really made a concerted effort over the last decade or so to bring functional, practical, and sometimes even reasonably priced firearms and equipment to the market that cater to more than just military operators. One particular turning point that really indicated to me that SIG was adapting its product lineup for modern firearms audiences was when it released the P322 – probably one of my favorite firearms to be released in the last decade. This also leads to SIG’s M400 Series, their own turn-key offering to the DI AR-15 market. There are several different versions of the M400 each of which caters to slightly different firearms consumers ranging from those on a tight budget to those with hunting or even 3-Gun competition in mind. Our review subject of today is another sibling from the M400 family, the M400 SDI XSERIES. This specific M400 offering is SIG’s answer to those who want a bit more than the average budget AR-15 offers including some design cues taken from the SIG MCX-SPEAR platform.

TFB Review: Bear Creek Arsenal BC-9 Side Charging 9mm AR

In recent years, 9mm carbines have been hitting the market in various styles, and the Side Charge, Bear Creek Arsenal BC-9 Carbine, is a unique offering in its own right. The BC-9 is based around the AR-15 style platform and accepts Glock pattern magazines, but as the title implies, the action is operated by a lever on the side of the gun, rather than the traditional AR charging handle at the top rear of the receiver. Let’s take a look at how this design stacks up as I put the Side Charge BC9 through its paces.

Aero Made a 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle for US SOCOM: The MRGG

In 2019, US SOCOM (United States Special Operations Command) sought a weapon system that could overmatch small arms threats from opposing forces. The 6.5 Creedmoor was ultimately selected for this new platform due to its ability to engage targets at significantly longer distances than the .308 Win or 7.62 NATO and the ability to acquire or produce cartridges from available components and manufacturers. US SOCOM already adopted 6.5 CM in 2018 in limited capacities, so this made sense. The rifle was sought in two variants: Assault and Sniper Support, thus referred to as MRGG-A and MRGG-S respectively. The MRGG or Mid-Range Gas Gun program was developed and solicited by the defense industry. The solicitation had tight length, accuracy, and weight constraints. Aero Precision from Washington State made a competing rifle that they ultimately withdrew from the competition, but it’s still an amazing rifle made of state-of-the-art components.
