Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all bout the rimfire firearm world and its many firearms, ammunitions, shooting sports, and history! Last time on The Rimfire Report we took a look at the very budget-friendly Heritage Arms Rough Rider 22 caliber rimfire revolver. That little revolver is apparently one of the best-kept secrets of the rimfire world as many of you have had similar enjoyable results as I did while shooting the revolver. However, when it comes to modern arms and training, nothing is quite as ubiquitous or common as America’s rifle, the AR15. Humorously enough, I had already planned to do a review and overview of the CMMG Bravo 22LR AR-15 Conversion Kit for Rimfire Report and if it hadn’t been Labor Day weekend, you all would have gotten a double dose of CCMG rimfire goodness. Since colonial times, Americans have held shooting competitions with rifles used for militia service. These “service rifle competitions” have grown and become formalized into their own sport. Smith & Wesson has expanded their lineup of M&P 10 rifles with the new Volunteer X series. These new models add upgrades to the base M&P 10 Sport model. They pair a 16″ barrel with an overall weight of under nine pounds.

Liberty Suppressors is probably most well known for their high-end suppressors like the Behemoth, Goliath, and Leonidas TI. However, Liberty Suppressors also specializes in custom suppressor designs for just about anything that shoots a projectile out of its business end. If you’ve got a gun, they can probably make it quieter! Liberty Suppressors has just announced the introduction of their latest suppressor design, the Leonidas Gen 2 centerfire rifle suppressed system for the AR-15 rifle.

Ruger is attempting to fill the void left by the discontinuation of their SR-762 rifle with the introduction of their new SFAR or Small-Frame Autoloading Rifle. This new .308 AR-pattern rifle is a heavy-hitting option that manages to fit into similar dimensions as conventional AR-556 rifles as well as bringing the total weight of the entire package down to just 6.8 lbs for the 16″ version. With this announcement, Ruger has confirmed that the new Small-Frame Autoloading Rifle is not only being produced as we speak, but units have already begun shipping to their distributors meaning you’ll be able to pick up this hot new rifle from your local Ruger dealer soon. LMT Advanced Technologies and LMT Defense have teamed up to offer LMT AT ION 30 rifle suppressor buyers the eligibility to receive a free LMT lower receiver. The ION 30 LMT AT suppressor is optimized to provide shooters with maximum at-ear decibel reduction while preserving host weapon cyclic rates, reliability, and functionality. If you’re looking for the best in terms of accuracy out of an AR platform, one of the first things you should take a look at is your barrel. Some barrels are inherently better than others and aside from the type of ammo you’re going to need for it, there are a few other considerations on an AR that will aid in accuracy. However, a properly matched receiver set can also be a boon to accuracy by providing the user with extremely tight tolerances, and a near-perfect fit between the upper and lower. Unbranded AR has just announced that they’re bringing back their Billet Receiver Sets due to popular demand.

Foxtrot Mike released their 16″ FM15 upper receiver/rife a couple months back in spring and customers immediately requested a shorter barreled version of it. The company has just introduced the new FM15 12.5 upper receiver! The new 12.5-inch upper is very similar in nature to the 16″ version in that it still retains its non-reciprocating charging handle, low-mass bolt carrier, nested recoil spring assembly, and interlocking gas key and proprietary patent-pending integrated recoil system. Earlier this year, Caveman LLC introduced a series of crush washers for AR-15s that change to bright colors when the barrel starts to heat up past 131 degrees F (55 degrees C). Caveman states that the intended idea behind their Spark AR-15 Crush Washers is to warn shooters when the barrel is too hot to touch or store, and at which point accuracy might start to decline, thus changing from black to one of four bright colors. Over the last few years, there have been a number of new bullpup rifles coming onto the US market whether it’s Springfield’s Hellion, IWI’s X95 line of rifles or the classic Steyr AUG. Bear Creek Arsenal has rapidly expanded its available rifle and pistol lineup for the American firearms enthusiast. In their latest newsletter, they announced they would introduce three new lines of AR platform rifles to help shooters find something that will fit their needs. These new lines will include the all-around Fieldmaster, the long-range oriented Targetmaster, and the Huntmaster – I’ll let you guess what that one is marketed for. There are really not many firearms in the market chambered in Wilson Combat’s 300 HAM’R cartridge. Four Peaks Tactical is changing that today with the introduction of their new SBR or pistol in 300 HAM’R featuring an 11.3 barrel. The veteran-owned company announced the introduction of this new pistol/SBR on August 8th, which is packed down with lots of premium features and components.

The Slovenian National Police Force’s tactical police unit is known as Specialna Enota Policije (SEP), which translates as “Special Police Unit.” The SEP is used to carry out counterterrorism operations and other risky jobs that are too dangerous or challenging for the ordinary police force. They’re known as the “Red Panthers” and can be seen here using the Heckler & Koch HK416A5, G28 and G28 Patrol. Perhaps better known for their bolt action rifles, South Dakota-based Parkwest Arms have introduced a pistol caliber AR-based pistol – the PW-P9. The PW-P9 feeds from Glock magazines, is available with a standard rear or a side charging handle and has a proprietary, patented, bolt hold open design.

It seems that 2022 is bringing back the heat regarding AR10 rifles. Type-A Rifle Co/BG Defense joins the fray with their new Ambi Billet AR10 line of rifles. There are a lot of new, first-time gun owners out there, and I thought I’d take a moment to make ballistics visualized to help new gun owners with explaining how ballistics work with an easy-to-see and do object lesson. A true defensive “fighting” carbine needs to be compact, lightweight, accurate, and reliable to fill its role in the armory. Any equipment added to the carbine’s system should be an important capability of the system without dramatically impacting overall functionality. When it comes to suppressors, I believe that short and light models that are as gas-neutral as possible are the best choice for the AR-15. It seems that the new 3D-printed HUXWRX FLOW 556K has found the sweet spot between suppression and system integration.

Anderson Manufacturing introduced the second generation of their  AM-10 .308 Win guns at NRAAM 2022. Initially, this product line consisted of three rifles – Battle Rifle, Ranger and Marksman XL. A couple of days ago, the company announced the addition of a new member to the AM-10 family of firearms, the AM-10 Gen2 Breacher pistol.
