TFB Review: Mean Arms 9mm Bearing Delay Blowback Upper Receiver

Mean Arms 9mm bearing delay upper receiver represents a significant step forward in firearms technology.  Building on the lessons learned from existing roller-delayed firearms, Mean Arms developed a new tunable bearing delay system. After getting to put some rounds through this system at this year’s SHOT Show’s Industry Day at the Range I was overly curious how reliable this new system could be. With the help of both Mean Arms and Lake Martin Machine Gun, I put 1,000 rounds through this upper, and here’s what I found.

How do you make a good thing better? In the case of the Ruger American Gen II, the manufacturer has taken its popular bolt-action hunting rifle and improved the ergonomics and usability while keeping the basic idea of the rifle unchanged. The Ruger American Gen II should fit a much wider range of shooters than the original thanks to changes to the stock. The rifle ships from the factory with a removable stock spacer that allows the length of pull to change from 13.75 inches all the way down to 12 inches.

In this episode of TFBTV, Hop takes a look at the top-tier variant of the PSAK-47. Can an American company make an AK that competes with Combloc imports? Can the AK platform survive the cost increase of x39 ammo? Can we justify the existence of boutique AKs? Who knows!

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new YHM R45 Multi-Host Suppressor. The Rimfire Report: The Eternal Debate – SBR or Takedown 22LR Rifle?

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its rich history, the extensive array of unique firearms, as well as its fun and enjoyable shooting sports that are accessible to virtually everyone on the globe. Last week we talked about the extremely obscure, rare, and quite honestly pretty cool M6 Scout Rifle. This takedown, folding combination gun is one that many of us seem to have a massive affinity for, even if the concept itself isn’t all that great on paper. I think most of us might rather have a dedicated semi-auto, bolt-action takedown, or SBR 22LR rifle than an M6 as a general-purpose 22LR rifle. So today we’ll be going over the advantages and disadvantages of both, to see what the general consensus is among you, readers, as well as a few of the TFB staff that I’ve asked about the concept.

POTD: Victrix Armaments Pugio V

You’re watching and reading TFB’s Photo Of The Day. It’s very unusual to see such a short sniper rifle as this Victrix Armaments Pugio V. TFB Review: Anderson Manufacturing Dissipator

Anderson Manufacturing has been upping its game lately. Once known as one of, if not the cheapest AR maker on the scene, they have branched out to new product lines and noticeably improved their quality control. I recently reviewed their A4 Short Rifle, essentially an M-16A4 clone but with an 18” barrel. Well, that kind of design aesthetic has continued and they now make a “true” Dissipator. Is there such a thing as a “true” dissipator, and why would you want one? Let’s find out.

TFB Review: Springfield Armory Hellion 20-inch (Part 2)

Welcome back to Part 2 of my Springfield Armory Hellion 20-inch review. Part 1 was more of a first look at this gun than a full review. Now that I have spent more time with the Hellion, it is time to share my thoughts with the benefit of some recollection and range time.

If you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to take a look at it. This week, I wanted to take a closer look at three different people I know who carry concealed firearms but are drastically different from one another. Federal Ammunition Unveils NEW Power-Shok 360 Buckhammer Offerings

Straight-wall cartridges are getting a lot of press in recent years because our powers that be – in their infinite wisdom – believe that if a rifle casing is straight on its edge, that will be safer for everyone who is hunting in the surrounding area (I cannot believe we’re entertaining conversations like this, but I digress). For all of the people who hunt in more restrictive areas of the United States, Federal has some good news with additional Power-Shok 360 Buckhammer offerings.

The Rimfire Report: The Savage Model 24 Combination Gun

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report. This ongoing series is all about rimfire firearms, ammo, history, shooting sports, and more! Last week we got to talk about the really cool Iver Johnson M1 Carbine 22LR rifle. I was surprised to hear that at least one of you in the comments owned one but simply loathed that you couldn’t find magazines for it. The only reliable place I know to purchase magazines for that specific gun is from Iver Johnson themselves, however, the magazines don’t ever seem to be in stock and your next best bet is probably paying twice as much for one on GunBroker. This week we’re taking a look at another discontinued gun, that has seen modern variants rise up to take its place. I am of course talking about Combination Guns, specifically the Savage Model 24. This 22LR/.410 Bore combination gun has a rich history in both the military and the civilian world and lives on today in the form of the Savage Model 42 rifle.
