Bul Optics, a division of Israeli Bul Armory, has released a new red dot sight called B.A.O-1 (BAO stands for Bull Armory Optic). This is the fourth handgun reflex sight released by the company since the Bul Armory announced its optical products sub-brand about a year ago. Let’s take a quick look at the specs and features of the new B.A.O-1 sight.

In the world of pistol red dot sights, there seems to be an explosion in the market with every optics company coming out with a smaller pistol red dot to compete in this ever-growing market. Whether you agree or not with red dots on your carry guns, the amount of individuals who carry red dots every day on their pistols is on the rise. I managed to snag one of EOTech’s new EFLX red dot sights to set out and after a month or so with this new red dot, I came to some conclusions about the optic. Let’s take a closer look at EOTech EFLX pistol red dot.

SIG Sauer has just announced the latest update to their red dot lineup with the introduction of the new ROMEO4XT-PRO Mil-Spec Red Dot sight. Like its predecessor, the ROMEO4T, the ROMEO4XT-PRO features a waterproof and fog proof rating and is tested to MIL-STD-810 standards for environmental stress and equipment lifecycle. Unlike the previous ROMEO4, the new sight is packed with a lot of new features that have been requested by both professionals and the civilian marketplace.

Rail space is often limited on a lot of modern carbines and rifles which can sometimes limit the options you have for mounting optics. The new Strike Industries ASM Ring Cap is a multi-optic drop-in mounting system that gives you access to more Picatinny rail space or a red dot optic plate for mounting IR devices, laser rangefinders, or just about any micro-red dot currently on the market.

Lead & Steel is a relatively unheard-of developer of optics and “other cool stuff too.” Recently the company announced the introduction and availability of their new Promethean LP-1 Duty Grade red dot sight which features a 30,000-hour battery life, options for a standalone dot or a CQB reticle similar to the EOTech XPS lineup, and a durable design featuring an extruded aluminum “crumple” hood to make it truly “duty grade.” This new optic is available for pre-order now at a special introductory price and will begin shipping in Q1 of 2022.

Steiner Optics have announced that a number of Texas law enforcement agencies have approved the Micro Pistol Sight or MPS for duty use. The departments include the Lubbock and Cross Roads police departments (which combined have around 500 officers). Steiner also note that the MPS is being evaluated by Dallas PD. The Steiner MPS sight was introduced back in November 2021 and has a 3.3 MOA reticle, 13,000-hour battery life and multiple mounting options – with an MSRP of $574.99.

Available for only a limited time is the latest trim for the P320 slide from the SIG Sauer Custom Works shop. The new P320MAX XFIVE slide assembly takes cues from the original P320MXAX slide and adds on a pre-installed ROMEO3MAX red dot sight to give the user something they can slap on their very own FCU and grip module to create something truly unique. X-Vision Optics has a new thermal reflex sight called the TRW1, short for Thermal Reflex Sight Wide View. According to the company, it’s “perfect for home defense, tracking, scanning, and close-range shooting within 100 yards”.

Bushnell have introduced the RXC-200 and the RXU-200 reflex sights. The RX series micro-reflex sights are compatible with anything that accepts the SHIELD RMS or RMSc footprint. Both of the sights are available with an MSRP of $199.99. The new sights join the RXS-250 and the affordable RXS-100.

Fresh on the market from JagerWerks for those who have limited Picatinny rail space but still need or want to have more attachments forward of the optic is the new A1 Accessory Mount. Made at their home base in Michigan, the A1 Accessory Mount is meant to interface with the JagerWerks A1 Optic Mount which features a 2.25″ rise over the attachment point and is compatible with some of the industry’s most popular red dot optics for rifles and PDWs.

In this episode of TFBTV, Hop compares three different red dots for micro compact pistols. Equipping handguns with reflex sights becomes increasingly popular and quite frequently we learn about new players entering this market or companies expanding their offerings of optics-ready handgun products and sights. Primary Arms is no exception and they’ve recently released two new Classic Series handgun red dot sights – the Mini and Micro Reflex Sights. Let’s take a quick look at each of the new Primary Arms sights.

This is a review of the Aimpoint Duty RDS with 3X-C Magnifier – 39mm FlipMount & TwistMount base. As a bonus, we added Pulsar’s new PSP-V Adapter to add some thermal capability to the system. Due to the supply and demand situation in the World, it was quite difficult to get our hands on some of these components, but Aimpoint were kind to send me some samples for testing earlier this spring. The Aimpoints have been used on a variety of platforms like the Heckler & Koch MR223, Ruger Precision Rifle and an AR15 in .300 Blackout.

Bitshaky Defense is a new company whose first product is an adjustable offset red dot sight mount called BOM. This mount allows adjusting both the angle of the red dot sight in relation to the primary scope and its distance from the bore axis. Additionally, the Bitshaky Defense BOM mount can be equipped with a red dot guard for protecting the reflex sight from impacts.

The Trijicon SRO is one of my absolute favorite red dot optics for pistol competition shooting. However, unlike most of Trijicon’s other pistol red dot offerings, the SRO makes a compromise in terms of durability in order to gain a larger window to look through. Jagerwerks has recently introduced its latest aftermarket innovation by releasing the Trijicon SRO Battle Ready Optic Shield (B.R.O.S.). The Battle Ready Optic Shield is designed to increase the durability and resistance to impacts that the SRO has to protect it from inadvertent bumps, drops, and collisions.

Crimson Trace has finally released the much anticipated HRO or Heavy Recoil Optic. This new optic was announced previously at SHOT Show 2022 and is specifically designed (as per its name) to work with heavy recoil firearms like the FN SCAR 17 and other full-size rifles that pack a punch. The HRO will come standard with a ruggedized design, intuitive controls, and a full co-witness with backup iron sights.

Today we’ll be checking out some of the best currently available deals for red dot optics for rifles, pistols, shotguns, and more.

Bear Creek Arsenal has just announced their new BCA Red Dot/Rangefinder combination optic. This new optic is intended to be used for hunting and long-range shooting applications so that shooters can accurately and quickly estimate distances to targets without having to use a separate rangefinder. Like other rangefinders on the market, the BCA Red Dot/Rangefinder has lots of convenient options and features, most notably the inclusion of a standard Picatinny rail mount. Springfield Armory has released pre-cut, optics-ready slide kits for the XD series of handguns. This makes it a breeze to add a red dot sight to your gun, without having to ship it off to a machine shop. How does XD optics-ready slide kit hold up in practice?

One of the biggest pet peeves of mine when it comes to optics-equipped firearms is the sheer amount of different mounting footprint options on the market. Although it can be largely distilled down into maybe 4 or 5 different core patterns that all optics use, it’s still extremely frustrating to have to limit yourself artificially based on the type of pistol or optic you have. C&H Precision Weapons has just announced the introduction of a new full line of adaptor plates for select pistols, and pistol-mounted red dots.

Blackwater Worldwide the last couple of years has refocused its efforts on the interior of the firearms industry by producing more and more consumer products like ammunition. Now, Blackwater Worldwide has initiated a strategic partnership with DI Optical Co. Ltd (a South Korea-based optical company) which produces both optics and laser aiming devices. The RP-1 Red Dot and TMF-1 Red Dot are now available through the Blackwater online store.

I first took a glimpse of the new SIG Sauer ROMEO2 modular handgun red dot back in the winter of 2020 when SIG Sauer invited me out to SIG Electro-Optics in Oregon. There I was able to get a look at how they were constructed, and who was making them, and then SIG also gave us a chance to get a little bit of trigger time behind the ROMEO2 before we were all sent home. Fast forward to 2022 and I was finally able to get my hands on one for testing and evaluation – my way. The ROMEO2 is attempting to do something that, to my knowledge, has never been done before with a pistol-mounted red dot. The ROMEO2 is modular in that the user can quickly and easily add the included protective metal shroud and polycarbonate lens to seal the interior of the optic from outside moisture, dirt, dust, and debris. How well does this work out? Let’s find out!

When it comes to advancements in carry pistols, one of the most recent jumps in technology has to be the addition of small red dots. Whether it’s the classic Trijicon RMR or any of the other options to plunge into this market, there are a ton of different variations when it comes to handgun optics. I get asked fairly often what the benefit of having one style or the other for concealed carry since there are so many manufacturers supporting this area of the market.
