On the Heels of their CPX-4 release, SCCY Firearms just unveiled their latest update to the CPX handgun series. The new series includes an already mounted Crimson Trace red dot to the CPX-1/CPX-2 or CPX-3/CPX-4 handguns. The new CPX Red Dot line will still retain the iron sights for those who want the option.

SIG Sauer’s ROMEO1 pistol red dot reflex sight has been around for a few years now, but this week SIG announced it would be joined by the new ROMEO1PRO claiming a new level of reliability and durability. Available in black and FDE with SIG claim the new red dot has a 20,000-hour battery life with a new upgraded point-source emitter for increased brightness in day or night conditions.

With a growing number of companies making different types of fixed iron sights, I’ve been getting a ton of questions on what’s best. Some say red dot only is best while others say having fixed or back up irons to co-witness with are great too. Both styles have their advantages depending on what your needs are out of your gun. It may seem counterintuitive to some shooters, but a backup reflex or red dot optic on top of a 1x variable optic does make sense. Competition shooters can transition between close and far targets without having take a hand off to move the magnification ring. Similarly, home defense setups can have optics with two zero distances. The Reptilia RMR mounting options give shooters the ability to put together the perfect setup for their intended uses. The firearms industry as of late continues to shift and morph in unique directions. We want smaller carry guns that carry more rounds and are as accurate as our full-size pistols. This postured idea might seem improbable, but not impossible. That burning question gave birth to the SIG Sauer P365, and most recently the upgraded and enlarged P365XL. A similar desire shooters have wanted is a micro red dot for conceal carry pistols that retains all the goodness of a normal size red dot. Que the folks at SIG Sauer confidently exclaiming hold my beer! SIG Sauer has once again accomplished the improbable, and now proven not impossible task, of a micro red dot that is less than 1″ wide with the ROMEOZero Micro Red Dot stepping out from the shadows!

Leupold recently reported that the United States Marshals Service has selected their DeltaPoint Pro pistol red dot sight.  It will also be paired with the Dawson Precision sights and interchangeable plate.  According to several forums (example HERE), the Marshals Service has allowed red dot sights on personally owned pistols for some time already.  However, it seems that a more formally issued standard may be forthcoming.  Leupold had the following to say in their press release:

It has been 30 years since the Swedish Police Force last changed their service weapons. But they’re now beginning the search for new duty pistols.

TFB has covered the Laugo Arms Alien Pistol several times, and I had my first look at it at IWA in Germany this spring. Unfortunately there was no opportunity to shoot one, but a few friends ordered one and are waiting for delivery. I am looking forward to try and evaluate one, the concept looks really interesting but comes with a price of course. The local European dealer lists it at 4.500 USD (Alien 500 without VAT/tax).

I stumbled across the Noblex-Docter Optics GLOCK M.O.S. red dot sight while hanging out with my other cyber family over at AR15.com. There are currently two threads discussing this ultra low profile mini red dot sight designed specifically for the GLOCK optics read pistols. This thread has general information and links while this one is written by a customer who just received their new Noblex from Optics Planet. The new release seems to be a variation of a previously designed shotgun optic that attaches to a ventilated rib.
