As usual, in this very unusual SHOT Show, we are seeing not only new firearms being revealed, but also quite a few other tools and accessories. Here we take a brief look at the 2021 releases from the American knife brand SOG.

Cold Steel is one of the most famous modern American knife brands. In its 40 years of history, it has brought to market a great deal of iconic designs. Founded in 1980 in California by Lynn C. Thompson, the company has always been owned by the founder, who over the years proved himself both as a talented designer as well as as an innovative and outspoken marketer. Now, for the first time, Cold Steel is changing hands.

If you love both Magpul and limited edition knives, chances are you’ve been lusting after each iteration of their Rigger knife. Well, that story is coming to a close. Magpul is releasing the last of their Rigger series; the Stonewashed Green Micarta Rigger.

Looking for a new knife? Haley Strategic and Toor Knives have partnered in the development of a new fighting blade. The result is called The Darter and it’s available in three different colors – Coyote, Disruptive Grey or Ranger Green. The price for The Darter knife is $395.00 and it’s a limited series. Each Darter is finished with an individual serial number marking, an important feature for potential collectors.

Some consider the B&T APC9 to be the “Swiss watch” of pistol caliber carbines. As you may remember, the U.S. Army selected the B&T APC9 K as their New Sub Compact Weapon last year, with an initial order of 350 firearms. B&T USA have now made a limited run to commemorate the contract, which includes complete serialized cases. 333 of these are available exclusively to US-based collectors.

Today we look at soldiers from the French Foreign Legion. This is the first time I see the French Heckler & Koch HK416F with the bayonet attached. Note that the rifles do not (yet) have the Aimpoint CompM5 sight, which is supposed to become the optic of choice.

An M9 bayonet is commonly an unthought-of tool to most shooters without prior military service.  While bayonets have been used since the 17th century, in today’s world, it’s considered to be an ancillary weapon or a weapon of last resort.  As a result, a bayonet lug can often go unnoticed by gun buyers who often see it as just part of a front sight base. Common M9 bayonets are nothing extraordinary, and as such are often overlooked.  For me, that idea started to change when late last year I stumbled upon a pair of rare M9 pattern bayonets.  My interest piqued, an idea started to take hold.

On 19th September  Microtech Knives held a Grand Opening in their new facility in North Carolina. The opening was also broadcasted live on the Internet, and customers had the possibility to purchase products directly from the show. Gerber has been a long time favorite knife and tool manufacturer of mine. Last week, Hogue came out with their Legion series line of knives and tomahawks. Hogue has been making knives for SIG over the last few years but now they have extended into the Legion series with several offerings in different blade styles and lengths. I was one of the lucky few to receive an early version of the Legion Tomahawk so let’s jump into what you get for the price.

Every Day Carry – “EDC” – has expanded into it’s own sub-industry in recent years, blossoming from just “keys-phone-gun-wallet” to medical gear, flashlights and of course knives. While a trip through Instagram may have you believing that without a Rolex and a fancy inlaid mother of pearl auto opener you aren’t worthy to leave the house, us mere mortals must work within our budgets IRL. So let’s take a look at some EDC knives that are both functional and affordable.

Well, let’s start with the good news: “A new HK product is available on the civilian market!” and… it’s a knife. Or maybe, more correctly, 3/4 of a knife, as it appears to be lacking proper handle scales… however, we’ve seen worse in terms of product releases from the brand.

The Pachmayr company has just released six new knives with varied styles and functions.  They are already well-known for making firearms accessories and grips.  While these new knives aren’t the first venture into Pachmayr’s knife production, it’s quite an expansion with a wide variety of options.  You can read their press release below:
