Russian ORSIS has announced that they have set up a manufacturing line to produce AR-15 pattern rifles chambered in .223 Remington. The new rifles are called ORSIS-AR15J. They seem to be pretty standard configuration rifles but if priced right they should have a high demand in Russia because there is very limited availability of reasonably priced quality AR-15s in the local market. The company earlier used to assemble AR-15 rifles from imported parts but the new ORSIS-AR15J will be completely manufactured in-house.

There have recently been some rumours that Colt is abandoning the civilian AR-15 market. The truth isn’t quite so simple. With national news outlets picking up the story, Colt have today released a statement emphasising their commitment to the Second Amendment and reassuring that they ‘highly value’ their civilian customers.

Jones Arms has released an affordable little accessory designed to mitigate the felt recoil, vibrations and shocks in AR-15/AR-10 pattern rifles. This new product is called Energy Absorbing Bumper (EAB). It is a polymer tip of a unique construction that simply replaces the standard polymer tip on AR-15 buffers.

Brownells now offers their own AR-15 handguards/rails called Wrenchman. The company’s goal is to offer handguards packed with all the features modern shooters demand at an affordable price. Currently, these rails are available in two versions – Wrenchman and Wrenchman Precision. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

One issue I’ve struggled with in the past is the buildup of carbon overtime on weapon lights. Whether it’s on a handgun or mounted on a rifle, sometimes gas and carbon residue collect on the light’s bezel. I’ve tried a number of different things to clean the glass faster but for years I didn’t have a great solution. Cleaning weapon lights can be a real pain but there are a couple of tricks to make it way easier.

SIG Sauer has just released a new iteration of their TREAD line of 5.56 AR’s, this time in an 11.5″ barreled pistol configuration.  TFB was lucky enough to briefly get our hands on one of these pistols for a quick review.

This past weekend I went out with a few friends and had a very early range session. One of the guys I was with set up an extremely simple drill with nothing but a large piece of paper, index card and a can of spray paint. In the last few articles, I’ve found various targets that are easily accessible online. After reading comments, I started to see you guys sometimes like to just make targets at the range. This drill is a perfect example of making your own target with little to no money!

Good afternoon everyone and thanks for coming back for yet another edition of TFB’s Silencer Saturday, where eye-stinging hot gas can be a way of life – much like working at Taco Bell. Which brings us to today’s topic: non-flatulence related gas regulation. We’ve discussed the issues surrounding suppressing a direct impingement (DI) AR-15 style rifle in the past and among the most popular options of regulating these systems are adjustable gas blocks. However, we have yet to break down the best available gas block options along with their individual pros and cons. So let’s take a look.

In Michigan, it is illegal to have a rifle in your vehicle unless there’s a specific purpose for it. With the current laws, I often will carry a 10.5 AR pistol in my truck locked in a vehicle safe. Usually, this is with me when I am going on trips or long distances. I will also take a handgun but having something else to protect yourself is never a bad way to go.

Lage Manufacturing has been developing the MAX-11/15 upper receiver for several years. Earlier we talked about the progress of this project. Recently, they announced that this 5.56/223 upper receiver designed for M-11/9 submachine guns lower receivers is now available for purchase.

Kriss USA is well known for their Kriss Vector. A few years ago they started another sister company called Defiance. This company designs and develops accessories for their Vectors as well as starting a line of .22lr rimfire rifles called the DMK22. We got a chance to review their DMK22 LVOA as well as their standard regular DMK22.

Paul Leitner-Wise of Leitner-Wise LLC has published a teaser for an upcoming new improved AR-15 bolt carrier called Long Advance Bolt Carrier. At first glance, it may look completely identical to any standard bolt carrier, however, that’s because the changes are incorporated into the cam track geometry which is probably not something you can spot right away unless you compare it to a standard bolt carrier.

If you’ve ever assembled an AR at home you’ll understand how important part fitment is. If you combine your favorite parts from one company with your favorite parts from another company, they may not work all that well together. Going through a build for weeks or months only to have it malfunction or flat out not work on your first range trip with it can be frustrating. Over the last 6 months, I’ve run the Primary Weapons Systems as my main rifle and it’s been an interesting ride. When I first started looking at PWS line up of guns, I was really curious how the long stroke gas piston system worked so I ordered the MK116 MOD 2-M rifle. The rifle may look like an AR-15 but apart from looks, the gun is almost entirely different from your standard AR rifle.
