The US Army Expeditionary Warrior Experiments (AEWE) facebook page shared some interesting photos from their annual technologies event. AEWE is described as “the Army’s premier prototype technology and concept event focused on the squad and small units.” One of the industry manufacturers attending was Daniel Defense showing off their MK18 carbine.

According to the local newspaper in Varnamo, Sweden, the Police held a press conference on the shootings and gang war there. The small town only populates about 20 000 people.

India is reportedly poised to purchase a large number of 5.56x45mm carbines from the United Arab Emirates small arms manufacturer Caracal. A deal to buy almost 95,000 Caracal CAR816 rifles is said to have been agreed.

Georgia-based Liberty Suppressors has introduced a new integrally suppressed 5.56 upper receiver, the Zulu. The Zulu upper is built around an  Odin Works custom profile 10.5″ barrel with a titanium baffle system designed by Liberty Suppressors.

Last year, we reported about this 60-round AR-15 magazine displayed by Schmeisser at SHOT Show 2018. Back then, it was still in developments and the company didn’t allow to take the magazine apart and photograph its internal parts. This year, at SHOT Show 2019, they were ready to show the internal mechanism of the magazine. Let’s take a look.

Barrett has taken the 5.56x45mm REC7 rifle and upgraded it to a 7.62x51mm package which is now the REC10. The REC10 was a product development of a foreign military solicitation program in which Barrett was successful in acquiring and winning. We don’t know what exact country this was, but we should have more information on the blog side of TFB in the future, or at least when we see them being used in the wild.

Lancer’s new L30 AIR (Aerial Interdiction Rifle) was designed for gunners from an aerial platform.  Chambered in both .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor, this rifle was designed with being lightweight for caliber as well as compact.  The upper receiver was developed with weight reduction in mind, and lacks a forward assist and dust cover.  Further weight reduction is achieved with the selection of Rubber City Armory’s Ti Bolt carrier group.  It’s skeletonized rail is compatible with most rail mounted brass catching or deflecting devices, a must when used from most helicopters.

VLTOR Weapon Systems brought a ton of new products to SHOT Show 2019. In this article, I’ll briefly tell about the most significant ones. According to the company officials, most of these new products will be available for purchase by Q3 2019. Let’s take a look.

Our partnership with Strike Industries was an amazing experience from the very beginning of SHOT Show 2019. We hosted them at our range day booth and they brought one of those high-speed low drag Phantom cameras. Anyone at the range could walk into our booth, shoot a gun, have it filmed in slow motion and then receive his video at Strike Industries booth at the exhibition. This author didn’t miss that chance, too.

Springfield Armory was in attendance at SHOT Show’s “Industry Day at the Range,” and they brought along a lot of their new toys for all of us to enjoy and check out in person. The highlight for many people was absolutely the New 911 9mm. The 911 model itself has been received very well, but people have been begging for it to be offered in 9mm, and now they have it.

LMT Defense ( Lewis Machine & Tool Company) attended SHOT Show’s “Industry Day at the Range” and brought with them some very cool firearms like many companies in attendance. All of our left-handed shooters in the audience will be glad to hear that for 2019 LMT Defense is producing completely ambidextrous versions of their MARS (Modular Ambidextrous Rifle System) firearms.

CMMG has revamped and streamlined their AR15 product line in order to allow customers to see what the company has at a glance. There are three initial tiers of what they offer. The Banshee is their pistol or SBR setup, the Endeavor is their long distance line, and the Resolutes are 16.5-inch carbines. Within these classifications, there are 100, 200, and 300 series of classes as well. The difference between 100-300 comes down to how many bells and whistles come with each system, 300 being the higher end option. Previously CMMG had a number of different acronyms for their product line which might have confused folks looking at the rifles that were on sale.

Complete AR-15 uppers, the Ruger Precision Rifle, Hornady Reloading Kit, Ruger Magazines, and the Ruger LC9s.

Well it’s not technically a musket, it isn’t a smooth bore, it has straight rifling rather than spiralled. You may remember the hype which surrounded Franklin Armory’s mysterious Reformation in the run up to SHOT Show 2018. Well almost exactly a year later the Reformation is now available.

At the First World Shoot Rifle in Russia there were some interesting firearms, some more unique than others.

The Philadelphia Police Department have adopted SIG Sauer’s M400 Pro rifles for their SWAT teams. These new M400s will replace Philadelphia SWAT’s Bushmaster AR-15s and SIG Sauer SIG556s.

Brownells now offers a new retro AR – the BRN-605 Carbine. As the name implies, this is the replica of Colt’s Model 605 which was an early attempt of making a carbine version of the M16 rifle. The Colt 605 was designed in the mid-’60s by cutting the M16 barrel just past the gas block.

Fire Control Unit is the company that transforms your P320 fire control unit (trigger box) into a small PDW weapon. They just posted this photo on Instagram and Facebook. At the top, they tease something called the AR320.

When I first heard of Cobalt Kinetics it was at Shot Show 2016 when they showed off their competition rifle. It was a very wild looking AR-15 with some interesting features set up for the competitive shooter. Earlier this year they came out with a new 50 state legal Model 27 lower receiver. Cobalt Kinetics sent us their top of the line 27 Expert in for review.

It’s a well-known fact that the AR is categorically superior to the AK and the Kalashnikov is suitable only for dirty commies and the poors. There are a lot of reasons for this fact, but today we are going to focus on reliability and the ballistic differences between common FMJ for AKs and ARs, after touching briefly on the ergonomic inferiority of the AK.

Ballistic Advantage is closing out one of their products, a stainless steel AR-15 barrel for 5.56. It is a pistol-length barrel at only 7.5″, and has a QPQ corrosion resistant finish. The barrel’s twist is 1:7, and it does have a threaded muzzle. This barrel’s 416R stainless steel means it will foul less and be easier to clean than a comparable 4150 Chrome Moly barrel, as well as being superior for competition shooting due to its increased accuracy for short groups of shots.

What captivated many visitors to Indo Defense 2018 this year from Pindad was the defense companies Harimau Modern Medium Weight tank that was a product of a joint venture with a Turkish defense company. However when it comes to small arms, Pindad had some new offerings as well, some that we should be seeing within Indonesian military service soon enough.

It’s almost become commonplace to hear a story about a 300 Blackout round finding its way into a 5.56 AR pattern rifle (or vise versa).  It seems like this stories have become almost routine to hear among AR enthusiasts, a group that often owns both calibers. Now as most of you already know, this is an easy mistake to make.  Both rounds were designed to use the same magazine, making it easy to slip in the wrong round when you’re not looking.

SIG MPX/MCX stocks have become a popular accessory not only for the SIG firearms but for other guns, too. There are multiple different adapters designed for these stocks such as those made by JMac Customs. Recently, KNS Precision has announced that they now make a similar adapter for AR-15 buffer tube replacement.
