TFB REVIEW: Wilson Combat 92G Brigadier Tactical

It was Christmas of 1988 and I was on an Coast to Coast flight, headed out to Los Angeles to visit friends and maybe see some family. The backlog at work was huge – a full load of New York scumbags waiting to do their time. Sufficiently jaded by the job and the city, a trip to California during the holidays might have been a nice change of pace; Cappy retired out west a few years ago and seemed to enjoy it. As always, my family situation was “complicated”. I was still married (barely), separated by a few thousand miles after she got that big new position. But, my real life partner was always with me, even when I was on “vacation”, since it appears that I was the quintessential sh*t magnet. Riding in a well-worn leather shoulder rig was my Beretta 92F. Fast forward some 30 years later, here I sit, long since retired, cherishing a Wilson Combat 92G Brigadier Tactical – a beautiful update to the weapon that I used to personally defend freedom on so many different occasions.

TFB REVIEW: JAXX Industries 300BLK Micro Galil

Although soldiers in Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are most commonly seen carrying M16 rifles and M4 carbines made in the United States, the Israel Military Industries (IMI) Galil was their official rifle for almost two decades. During the Six Day War In 1967, the IDF captured thousands of AK47 assault rifles for later evaluation and found they were more reliable and controllable than the current issued battlerifle: the FAL. Searching for a suitable replacement, designer  Yisrael Galil offered up an alternative in the form of a RK 62 type variant chambered in 5.56x45mm. The resulting rifle adopted by the IDF was issued in four versions, one of which was the compact MAR, better known as the Micro Galil.

Rock Island April 2018 Premiere Firearms Auction Sets 10 World Records!

I was going to write another overview of the most expensive firearms sold at recently ended Rock Island April 2018 Premiere Firearms auction in the same fashion that I have been doing it before. However, this time the auction was quite different – it set 10 world records of firearms sold at auctions. So instead of doing a top ten list, I thought it would be more interesting for our readers if I dedicate the article to the firearms that set these price records. And this time we will start with the most significant and expensive one. The record titles link to the corresponding Rock Island Auction Company website pages where you can learn more about these firearms. It is also important to understand that these records refer to sales in auction houses because it is impossible to know the sums of all the private deals.

SILENCER SATURDAY #16: Gas Regulation And You

Good day everyone, thanks for joining us for episode #16 of TFB’s Silencer Saturday. Last week we talked about some upcoming decibel metering tests of popular suppressors along with a few of the more unique commercially available models. Since then, I have been reading up on the proper use of a meter and some standardized testing practices (no, not like the SAT). Luckily I have a few experts on standby to assist in the trials. This week I thought we should discuss gas regulation when it comes to suppressing direct impingement (DI) rifles; specifically the AR15 and its variants.

"Trichy" Assault Rifle Gaining Traction Among Indian Law Enforcement

After field trials and subsequent purchasing of the “Trichy” Assault Rifle (TAR) by the Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), it is being reported that other Indian Law Enforcement entities are taking an interest in the rifle as well. The 7.62x39mm TAR rifle was initially introduced almost a decade ago but appeared to have seen little success in the form that it first existed in. Essentially it appeared to be converting an FN FAL receiver into 7.62x39mm with internally produced magazines. The current variant is in fact a copy of the Bulgarian Arsenal 7.62x39mm AR-M1 (milled receiver) with some modifications to the buttstock in a fixed stock, folding stock, and telescoping M4 patterned stock variation. It appears that the latch to secure the right folding stock is left on the receiver even when the fixed and telescoping stocks have been installed. This improved variant was officially unveiled in March of 2017, more than a year ago. The name “Trichy” is short for Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli where a large number of defense articles are produced, to include the dreaded INSAS.
