Farewell, Caracal! Welcome, Rex firearms!

Announced with great fanfare in 2016 ( http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/11/29/caracal-wants-make-guns-brazil/), the plans of the United Arab Emirates’ Caracal company to establish a factory in Goiás State, Brazil, now seem to have all but gone. The concern, in fact, had a major stand at the 2017 LAAD – Latin America Aerospace and Defence exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, where it was announced that actual construction work of industrial facilities in the city of Anápolis would start “within a few months”. However, this did not happen, nor did the materialization of the project, as a whole.

Everything from barrels to slides to sights to frames and even custom shops that will change every component of the pistol to your liking (for a nominal fee, of course). One company that is relatively new on the scene is L2D Combat. Even still, the components they are producing have stellar curb appeal. 10 YEARS AND 100K ROUNDS – SureFire Silencer SWAT Use

Let’s do the math, shall we: At a conservative estimate of $0.30 per round, these SureFire suppressors spit a metric tonne of copper and lead. Carry the one, move the decimal point, grab the calculator… a grand total of a brand new, fully loaded Toyota Camry – for each silencer. While most civilians will not use their silencers to the extreme levels of soldiers or specialized law enforcement teams, it is a a solid datapoint that is difficult to reproduce in a controlled settings. Either way, 100K rounds is an impressive feat, considering a barrel’s realistic service life is between 10K-20K rounds.
