With the launch of so many new AR15/AR10/PCC firearms and accessories at SHOT Show this year, there’s one company introducing a new accessory that would be easy to overlook…

Everyone knows how completely badass Lone Wolf is when it comes to ordering after-market parts and accessories for Glock.

GİRSAN, known better for the Turkish handguns and shotguns that get imported into the United States, has appeared to step foot into the commercial AR15 market. Several online Turkish news organizations ( VIDEO7 and KG) have published articles detailing what appears to be a GİRSAN press conference that shows a GİRSAN employee demonstrating the company’s entry into the AR field. The articles specifically mention that the rifle is an “Infantry Rifle”, intended for law enforcement customers. However, one of their plans is to try and compete for serial MPT76 production, already underway at MKE, Sarsılmaz, and Kalekalip. The Turkish Armed Forces number some 500,000 plus troops, and the current MPT76 production plans only call for around 45,000. If there is an operational requirement to produce more, the government will probably come looking for other private sector small arms manufacturers.

A company you may have not heard of, but have absolutely seen their work in numerous films for decades is Independent Studio Services (ISS). This 3rd generation, family business got its start in 1977 by the way of Greg Bilson, Sr and the family business is making firearms for Hollywood!

In the week leading up to SHOT 2018, I got an email from Matt at Ellison Dynamic Concepts with an informal invitation to drop by the EoTech booth to see their new 3D Printed silencers. Owning a suppressor made by additive manufacturing and fully believing that the process will permeate through the firearms industry in the near future, I was looking forward meeting the new manufacturers and getting a first hand look at the new suppressors. Luckily, Ellison Dynamic Concepts was also out at Industry Range Day, so I was able to get a live feel for the sound reduction from the new silencers.

In between the racing from meeting to meeting on the SHOT Show floor and getting a look at the most requested guns out at Industry Range Day, we had a chance to make a few like-minded friends as well as rekindle some old relationships (light the candles and drop the lights, please). Two of the crews I was glad we had the chance to catch up with during the blur that was last week is the 5.11 Tactical media production team and the New Hampshire firearms manufacturer, Sig Sauer. In this short video, the guys at 5.11 Tactical capture the new Sig P365 subcompact pistol out in the Nevada desert.

A stroll through the social media circles of the firearms industry can leave you shaking your head. Not only can the gunplay be a bit untraditional, but somehow safety practices appear to be widely ignored. While I absolutely believe in individual freedoms, I also believe that we have a responsibility to the younger shooters amongst us who look up to the Instagram and Facebook trigger pullers for guidance in gear choices. As such, I believe the use of proper protective gear, including eyewear, is critical. At the 2018 SHOT Show Industry Range Day, Gatorz Eyewear allowed us a look through their unique design that offers up some of the best eye protection ratings in the industry.

Medical gear and ballistic nylon is not always the most exciting products to come out of the SHOT Show, but when it comes to life saving supplies and EDC transport, Blue Force Gear is on point. Announcing a larger version of their Jedburgh backpack – the Tracer Pack – BFG added more volume to an already feature-rich setup. Compatible with all the Dapper velcro system pouches and containers, users are able to setup their Tracer Pack as their daily mission requires. Estimated to be released in March, the Tracer Pack will most likely be priced a bit higher than its smaller kin which runs $140. Dapper accessories run from $11 to $36 depending on the model.

The Vortex Optics Crossfire debuted last month with the promise of performance, battery life and an unbeatable pricpoint. And seeing how swamped the red dot section of their 2018 SHOT Show booth was, people seem to be pretty excited. A cursory overview for pictures and a function check revealed the Crossfire to be a stout red dot optic for range use, training as well as home defense. At about $200, look to see the Crossfire reddot moving quickly from dealers shelves.

Thunder Beast Arms Corporation (TBAC) had two new products to introduce us to while visiting them at SHOT Show 2018. One of those was a new silencer called the 5.56mm Takedown. The other was aptly named the Dedicated Suppressed Upper (DSU). Both of which actually utilize their new 5.56mm Takedown silencer.

The 6.5 Creedmoor is the caliber of the day and Steyr Arms advocates have been lusting for a rifle chambered in it for a long time. They now have their wish granted with the Steyr Arms Pro THB (Tactical Heavy Barrel) in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Everybody had to know that 5.11 Tactical was not going to roll into SHOT Show with celebrity appearances and Black Rifle Coffee Company coffee in their booth without bringing along some dope new gear. We previously covered their new GEO 7 Terrain & Night camouflage patterns, but they also have new, innovative packs to peak your interest. Their Rapid Origin and All Missions Pack (AMP) both offer unique traits that may just suit your needs.

Innovative Arms has been making quality, affordable silencers for several years with a focus on integrally suppressed upgrades for customer’s guns. One of their most popular builds, a ported, shrouded Smith & Wesson M&P 15, is definitely a crowd pleaser, silently slinging copper washed lead to the tune of the cycling of the action. Improving an already solid system, the Elgin, South Carolina based crew is giving the true integral silenced platform an upgrade.

Welcome back to Silencer Saturday. Today we are capping off the 2018 SHOT Show with a pictorial review of the week’s silencer and silencer related gear along with a one mile shot using a suppressed bolt action rifle. More on that in a minute.

Boyd’s Stocks has updated their At-One line of laminate adjustable stock sets to include Remington and Mossberg pump shotguns. With prices hovering somewhere around $200 for the stock and forend combination, potential buyers can pick from traditional wood colors to an eye catching zombie green. We had a chance to play with the features of the At-One stock sets and, just like last year, the quality top notch.

At the 2018 Steiner Optics 2018 SHOT Show booth, I finally got the chance to play with their newest DBAL model: the A4. With brightness settings for the light, laser, IR laser and IR illuminator, the DBAL-A4 is a versatile all-in-one aiming solution. Being a popular stop on the SHOT floor, I did not get a chance to look at the new Steiner TOR Laser consumer pistol device lineup.

Manufacturers of premium quality AR15 rifles, 2A Armament debuted two ultralight rimfire setups that can be used as training kits or as standalone rifle platforms for hunting, target shooting or general plinking. The kits come in two forms: a drop in bolt carrier group that works with your existing .223 barrel or a barrel and bolt combination for building a complete upper.

Both out on the range and on the 2018 SHOT Show floor, I was lucky enough to get some time to catch up with my friends at Gemtech Suppressors. After a dynamic 2017 – being bought by Springfield, Massachusetts based Smith & Wesson and losing their former CEO, the team seems to be on solid ground and virtually free of acquisition growing pains.

One only needs to spend a minute or two at the Lauer Weaponry/DuraCoat booth to instantly recognize why the company is absolutely thriving.

At a time when every other firearms coating company strives to create exciting new colors and differentiate themselves from their competition, the guys at Cerakote decided to focus on something completely different with their new “imaging software”.

Off of the crowded SHOT Show floor, I was lucky enough to have a private meeting with Thermal Defense Solutions, a new suppressor company that is leveraging additive manufacturing processes (3D Printing) to build silencers. The team is ready to bring out four new suppressors that are compact, lightweight, extremely durable and priced comparable to traditionally made silencers.

At a time when some manufacturers are creating cheaper “throw-away” pistols and rifles, one company happily creates a 1911 with an $85,000 pricetag.

When it comes to airsoft more and more consumers are looking for weapons that resemble their real firearms. Whether it is the functionality, realism, weight, balance or being the actual brand that they own. People are wanting to have available to them as close to the real thing as possible. If everything that I just stated applies to you, then you should truly be looking at none other than Evike Manufacturing Group (EMG).

If you follow my posts, you already understand my love for the guns and suppressors from Swiss firearms manufacturer B&T and B&T USA. So it should be no surprise that my first stop was their booth to catch a glimpse of what we can expect here in the U.S. in terms of pistol, carbine, rifle and silencer availability. And for patient buyers, I have good news.

In a somewhat surprising move, Silencer Shop has just announced that they will once again be selling suppressors and accessories from Utah-based SilencerCo. After a rumored pricing and business process dispute in 2015, SilencerCo pulled their products from Silencer Shop’s virtual shelves, frustrating fans of both companies. Customers could start seeing products in stock and for sale on Silencer Shop’s website as early as today.

Colt has a very storied history of producing phenomenal single-action and double-action revolvers. To the dismay of many, over the years they slowly dwindled down that inventory to only the SIngle-Action Army leaving consumers reminiscing of the good ol’ days and wanting more. Well, Colt responded to those sentiments by bringing back the Cobra .38 Special. Now this year at SHOT Show 2018 they have announced a newer iteration of that revolver called the Night Cobra.

When it comes to SHOT Show everyone comes for the shock value of the guns that are announced, but be sure to stick around for the myriad of gear options, too. One company consistently strong in this segment of the market is 5.11 Tactical with their expansive portfolio of clothing, backpacks and tactical gear. So what are their new products for 2018? They have quite a bit, but the absolute headliner is their GEO 7 CAMO.

In a surprise announcement at the 2018 SHOT Show, gunmaker Weatherby revealed that they will be leaving the state of California, where they have been based since their founding in 1945. The company’s new home will be Sheridan, Wyoming, the sixth largest city in the state, nestled beside the Bighorn Mountains, and close to the border with Montana. The move was announced with little notice on the floor during the afternoon of the show on Monday, with the Wyoming Business Council in attendance. Adam Weatherby, founder Roy Weatherby’s grandson, cited strong economic incentives from the Wyoming Business Council, as well as more freedom to develop new products without onerous legal restrictions as reasons for leaving California.
