Gentex Updates Ops-Core FAST Bump Helmet

Gentex (Ops-Core’s Parent Company) has introduced an update to the FAST Bump Helmet. The most notable change is the removal of the molded shroud that was originally designed to accommodate airborne operations. Instead, it now features the same Lightweight Modular Bungee Shroud found on other helmets in the range. Additionally, the updated FAST Bump Helmet is equipped with PowerPath ARC Rails, allowing users to route cables behind the rail system, ensuring they are kept out of the way during use. These improvements enhance the versatility and functionality of the helmet for a wider range of users and operational needs. No weights have been given at this time and it will be interesting to see if these new helmets are lighter or heavier than the older models.

TFB Behind The Gun Podcast #85: Who is Varusteleka? With CEO Jari Lane

Varusteleka has fast become one of my favorite clothing brands, mostly due to their judicious use of Merino Wool in most of their in-house designed products. Beyond that, they are one of a select few places online where I know it’s absolutely safe to purchase military surplus gear without having it misidentified. Varusteleka is Europe’s largest military surplus provider and one of the largest gear providers as well. This year they once again hosted Finnish Brutality 2023 in their home country, and their CEO Jari Lane is and always has been instrumental in the event. In addition to helping organize the event, Jari also puts a lot of time, effort, and thought into designing each stage for a brutality event. Today Jari and I discuss Varusteleka’s rich company history in their 20 years of operation, how they’re celebrating, and what plans Jari and his team have for both Varusteleka and the Finnish Brutality competition in the years to come.

Leupold Optics Academy – Day 2 & 3

The start of day two at the Leupold Optics Academy began with us confirming our 100 m zero on the Seekins Precision Havak HIT Pro rifle. We would then run a course of fire similar to the previous day, but this time it was at a much more rapid pace. This course of fire was also taking place earlier in the morning with the sun directly facing us. I’m happy to report that even with a lot of sunlight hitting the front of our optics, seeing down range was still really easy with these Leupold scopes. Of course, it really helps when you have an extended hood on the front of your scope as well.

A Warehouse for Gun Mags: Who Is GunMag Warehouse?

I’ve heard it said that any gun is only as good as its magazine. As someone with a family to feed, I’ve dipped my toe into the world of cheap gear. Some of those purchases have been magazines of questionable merit, and I must say that I agree with the earlier statement. It’s no wonder the demand for mags, big and small, is constantly increasing. Whether you’re looking for box mags, stick mags, drums, clips, or ‘stendos, the ability to find what you need all in the same place is paramount to keeping yourself stocked. One such place is GunMag Warehouse, a powerhouse in the magazine space, ammunition supply, and much more.

TFB Behind The Gun Podcast #79: Training Trends with Mo from Raven Wing Limited

Getting solid firearms training has simultaneously become easier than ever but also more difficult than ever. While there are a ton of great training companies out there, for every good one there are probably half a dozen other ones peddling either unsafe or ineffectual training for their customers. Mo, Raven Wing Limited, and the network of trainers that they’ve managed to collaborate with are some of the best in the business and offer a wide variety of training ranging from fairly basic firearms manipulation skills to advanced pistol and carbine courses, as well as private consultations and even night vision courses. Based out of Los Angeles California, you’d think that Raven Wing would face a lot of competition but in fact, it is quite the opposite: Raven Wing often brings in other trainers and hosts them to bring both their customers more refined training from living legends like Scott Jedlinski from the Modern Samurai Project, Tim Herron Shooting, or JJ Racaza who you might remember being on TFBTV several times. Today I’ve brought on Mo to talk about some of the most pronounced training trends he’s noticed in the firearms world today and what times of guns, optics, and holsters people are using to train for competition and self-defense nearly a quarter of the way through the 21st century.

Serbia Halts Arms Exports? Aims to Focus on Home Military Needs

Today we found out via our friends over at Zastava Arms USA that the Serbian Government decided that due to the ongoing situation in the area (tensions mounting with neighboring Kosovo), it’s likely they’ll be suspending all arms exports in an effort to make sure that the Serbian military has sufficient arms and ammunition to cater to the needs of the Serbian Armed Forces. At the time of writing, Zastava Arms has not received any official word from the Zastava Arms factory regarding the ban and they are still continuing to receive shipments as usual. With Serbia being home to Zastava Arms, and also being owned by the Serbian Ministry of Defense, Zastava Arms may have no choice but to completely cease all of their US exports to Zastava Arms USA.

Lighter and Smaller is Better: Re-Nine Safety's Compact Target Stands

The worst part about any range trip for me is setting up and taking down everything. When TFBTV’s Hop and I go to shoot, it usually involves several steel targets and several paper targets. Over time, we’ve learned to streamline our gear down to be more efficient but bulk and weight are still always an issue and that’s why Re-Nine Safety’s new Compact Target Stands piqued my interest. Their new 1×2 Compact Target Stands are made to work with common 18″ wide cardboard targets and fold down into a compact package for transport and quick setup.
