Cox Firearms Training of Texas is now working with churches, law enforcement, schools, and private businesses to teach them how to respond in an active shooter situation. So what does active shooter training prepare civilians for?

Boyds Gunstocks is a company that is well known for the sheer amount of options that they have in terms of customization when it comes to their high-quality laminate gunstocks. Their previous list of laminate color options has been slowly growing over the years and today they’ve just announced the addition of their new “Hornet” color variation featuring a grey/yellow pattern.

Some recent alarming news has come about from one of the country’s largest distributors of firearms, accessories, and ammunition. In a now-missing Facebook post, Brownells stated on July 1st that the United Parcel Service (UPS), had allegedly terminated their account and would no longer be accepting any of their shipments. A check of the Brownells shipping page currently only lists USPS and FedEx as available carrier options. In addition, the Florida-based Ghost Firearms were also notified that their account would be terminated for allegedly “violating applicable laws concerning the shipment of “ghost guns to unauthorized locations.” The full letter sent to Ghost Firearms has been posted below.

Few names in the firearms industry carry the same weight as Wilson Combat. Founded by champion pistol shooter Bill Wilson in 1977, the company has dedicated the last 45 years to catering to the specialty firearm and accessory market. Sprouting from a small family jewelry store, Wilson Combat has grown far past their basic 1911 gunsmithing services to now offer everything from 1911 accessories, ammunition, rifle accessories, magazines, and of course in-house produced firearms. First pictures of this ridiculously tall optics mount made by MDT engineers and called Sky High Scope Base were teased in March of the current year. Back then, many thought it was an upcoming April Fool’s Day joke. However, the reason for creating this scope mount, which MDT claims to be the world’s tallest scope base, is to find out if scope height over bore matters for long-range shooting if you use modern ballistic data gathering and calculation tools.

A Ukrainian company, the Kharkiv Plant of Individual Means of Protection (HZISZ), which operates under a number of trade names including RAROG, have developed disintegrating plastic machine gun links for various Soviet/Russian-pattern 7.62x54mmR chambered belt-fed machine guns. The ‘KS-122 Machine Gun Tape’ can be used in PK, PKM, and PKT pattern guns as well as the older Goryunov-pattern machine guns, the SG-43 and SGM.

The MidwayUSA Foundation is continuing its mission to further the efforts of local shooting ranges to support and grow youth sports shooting activities. These cash range development grants are provided to allow range facilities to expand capacity, which allows more young shooters to have a place to practice, and also helps give local ranges a place to host large competitive events.

Everyone at this point has felt the stress of ammunition scarcity and price hikes. Freedom Munitions is a fairly well-known ammunition manufacturing company that makes a combination of factory-new and remanufactured ammunition for both pistols and rifles. On the 23rd of June, Freedom Munitions announced that they were in the process of opening up a new 10,000 square-foot facility to increase the company’s capacity to fully manufacture cases and projectiles for a wide array of calibers including .223 and 30-06.

A new manufacturing, assembling, and finishing facility built by Rock Island Armory USA have just opened up in Cedar City, Utah. RIA-USA and Cedar City celebrated the opening of this new facility on June 8th which already has plans in motion to further expand the location to provide more jobs and opportunities for expansion for Rock Island Armory USA.

The Bundeswehr launched their program to select a new service rifle to replace the G36 in the spring of 2017, since then there has been a hard-fought selection process followed by court proceedings but it appears there may finally be an outcome. Following a ruling by the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, it now seems that the Bundeswehr will select the Heckler & Koch’s HK416 A8.

Regular TFB readers don’t need to be reminded that using firearm suppressors to protect shooters from hearing loss is a subject that is important to me. Over the past 10+ years, there has been an evolution in the way most silencers are designed, focusing on reducing the resulting gas and noise blowback that can occur in semiautomatic operating systems. OSS Suppressors, now HUXWRX Safety Co., has lead the charge in “Flow Through” suppressor designs that vents pressure out the front and not back down the barrel or gas system towards the shooter. At the exhibition Eurosatory 2022 in Paris, France, FN Herstal and Fiocchi have announced that they have entered into a new agreement. The new partnership should please U.S. customers as it specifically covers the manufacture and supply of 5.7x28mm ammunition in this market. The future plan is also to expand the existing range of 5.7x28mm ammunition for the U.S. commercial market.

A new night vision company has been created by Hensoldt Optronics GmbH and Theon Sensors SA. The name of the new company is Hensoldt Theon NightVision GmbH, and their joint forces will be used to develop products and solutions for thermal imaging and night vision. In the announcement, they specifically mention new products like night vision goggles and weapon-adapted night vision attachments.

It is our unfortunate duty to report to you that shotgun choke tube legend George Trulock has sadly passed away after a tough battle with pancreatic cancer. Trulock Choke Tubes was founded in 1981 by George who created a novel choke installation system that could be retrofitted into most shotgun barrels without the use of an adaptor system or machining tools. In 1982, George and Trulock brought their Tru-Chokes to market and since then the system has seen widespread adoption as an OEM choke tube system by many firearms and choke tube manufacturers worldwide. Trulock announced today (June 14th, 2022) the unfortunate passing of Mr. George Trulock and we here at TFB want to pass on our condolences to his family and friends.

Australia’s Lithgow Arms have established a new research and development hub for Australian defense industry companies with a new small arms collaboration and cooperation center. C3, as the hub is called, is housed inside the Thales-operated Lithgow Arms small arms factory in New South Wales.

Purveyors of highly customized and limited edition firearms SK Customs has just announced the launch of their new website as part of their rebranding campaign. The new SK Guns name and SK Guns website are just the latest efforts by SK Customs to help improve the customer experience and the new website will now include live showcases, a new blog series, and of course, a completely new logo.

Many of you will be familiar with the online retailer of law enforcement, military, and public safety gear, Botach. They sell everything from knives, ballistic gear, firearms, ammunition, and less lethal personal defense items. Botach was originally founded in the city of Los Angeles over 20 years ago and late in May of 2022, they announced that they had opened up their first retail store in the Las Vegas area that will also be open to the public.

The Finnish firearms manufacturer Sako has just announced that their SAKO TRG M10 rifle has been selected as the new Canadian Multi-Calibre Sniper Weapon (MCSW). The purpose of the MCSW program was to replace the current .338 Lapua Magnum C14 Rifle (introduced in 2005), with a rifle that would be capable of swapping between the more expensive .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge and the less expensive standard 7.62mm NATO cartridge. Sako will now begin the process of delivering the TRG M10 rifles to the Canadian Department of National Defense’s Army.

According to a communication from Heckler & Koch Germany, the company has entered an “extensive cooperation in the areas of development and sales” together with the Norwegian specialist in suppressors A-TEC. Heckler & Koch may not need another introduction on TFB, but for those who don’t know A-TEC, they are a Norwegian manufacturer of suppressors for hunters, sport shooters as well as law enforcement and military customers.

New Ultralight Arms, LLC, manufacturers of lightweight bolt action hunting rifles, will be joining Wilson Combat’s family of companies. The transition will see the production of New Ultralight Arms rifles move from West Virginia to the Wilson Combat plant in Arkansas. The move is part of Wilson’s expansion with the announcement of new facilities and production made last year.

Henry Repeating Arms are well known for their special edition rifles and raising money for great causes.
