The Remington Firearms Company has seen a rollercoaster of moves, acquisitions, divesting and reorganization over the last year and it seems that the legendary firearms manufacturer isn’t done moving and shaking yet. The company announced on November 8th that it would be investing $100,000,000 into a new headquarters and research operation based out of LaGrange, Georgia, and will be hiring 856 people in the process over a 5-year timescale. Whether Remington Firearms invests in a new manufacturing line or is simply moving their HQ for tax benefits is unclear at this time.

On November 3rd at around 4pm Central Daylight Time, a Colt Safety Recall was issued by the company in regards to certain Colt Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs) regarding the hammers of certain serial number ranges and models produced by the company that all presumably use the same fire control group hammers. According to the recall notice, these hammers allow the rifle to discharge more than one round when the trigger is released. Colt has voluntarily initiated this recall in an effort to prevent the possibility of death or serious injury and has encouraged anyone who has purchased a Colt MSR since March 5th, 2021 to stop using it and check to see if their MSR falls within the affected serial number range by using this link or calling Colt Customer Service. A recent ransomware attack from a ransomware group known as “Grief” (with alleged ties to well known Russian cybercrime group Evil Corp), has stated that they hold 13 key files belonging to theNational Rifle Association that they intend to hold hostage or leak unless the NRA pays the ransom which is of an undisclosed value. At the time of writing, the NRA has declined to make any definitive statements confirming whether or not Grief had actually breached NRA cybersecurity and if the nonprofit 2nd amendment organization plans on paying any ransom.

One of the biggest names in big-bore firearms, Big Horn Armory, has just announced that the company will be going through a pretty large expansion in order to meet increasing customer demand. This announcement comes during a time when much of the firearms industry has been adversely impacted by world conditions – Big Horn Amory seems to be making great strides in the opposite direction.

Many of you OGs here at TFB will no doubt be familiar with the Bianchi brand of leather holsters. Hailing from Florida, Bianchi is a part of the Safariland Group which is a global provider of not only holster products but also many other safety products that fall under the veil of the firearms world. In an effort to reconnect with their customers, Bianchi has opted to rebrand themselves into Bianchi Leather and have also updated their company logo.

One of my favorite guns and gear retailers has made a move into the blockchain world. DSG Arms accepts cryptocurrency payments for products sold through their website. For those who are accustomed to cash and credit/debit cards for their firearms-related purchases, crypto payments offer a few unique benefits. For one, in the past,  banks and credit card companies have blocked firearms and ammunition purchases. A move towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency payments is a win for decentralized finance (DeFi) and a step towards regaining a little financial freedom.

Israeli Bul Armory has announced the launch of the new Bul Optics sub-brand and introduced the first two products of the new brand – the MS-1 and MS-2 handgun reflex sights. Both MS-1 and MS-2 are open-emitter sights with the former featuring a more rugged hood design and intended for concealed carry use and the latter being competition sight with a larger window. Henry Repeating Arms are set to expand with a new 84,000 square foot facility in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. This will increase the Rice Lake-based company’s manufacturing capacity and future expansion at the new 13.5 acre site.

SIG Sauer will not be exhibiting at SHOT Show 2022 taking place in Las Vegas this coming January. The absence of SIG, normally one of the show’s largest booths, is almost certain to create ripples throughout the industry. After last year’s cancellation, many manufacturers donated money to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the organizer of the decades-old convention. As of now, the event is scheduled to start on January 18th with exhibition halls in both the Venetian Expo and Caesar’s Forum.

Smith & Wesson have announced that they will be relocating their headquarters to Tennessee in the mid-2020s but will retain operations in Springfield, Massachusetts. The company, founded in the 1850s, has long made Massachusetts its home.

It is with deep sadness that we have to report that the legendary founder of Berger Bullets – Walter Berger has passed away at the age of 92. The leader of the popular bullet company, Walter Berger was also a member of the Benchrest Hall of Fame where he achieved membership in 1982 and was also an avid competitive shooter where he famously used his own bullets for several of his competition wins.

While in most countries firearms development and production are getting more and more restrictive, Turkey seems to effectively expand its gun industry, and the recent IDEF 2021 is a good example. Almost half of the firearms manufacturers at the expo were founded in the last 5 years. Özyurt Arms is one of those new companies and it certainly follows the path typical for many new firearms manufacturers.

STP (Sport Target Pistol) is a firearms brand established by the German Büchsenmacherei Prommersberger, a company specialized in making competition handguns. Their catalog includes a variety of 1911-pattern match pistols and one wheelgun dubbed LODUR (name of a god in Norse mythology). In this installment of Wheelgun Wednesday, we’ll take a look at the history of this German company and the LODUR match revolver.

Advanced Armament Corporation was originally founded in the early 1990s and became one of the leading names in suppressors. In 2009 Remington purchased AAC and the company became one of a number spun off in the 2020 dissolution of Remington Outdoor Company. AAC has now announced a major organizational relaunch and restructure while confirming they will service and repair all legacy AAC suppressors.

With ammunition starting to show back up on shelves and hunting season just around the corner, maybe it’s time to build yourself another AR15. AMERIGLO has been in the business of providing customers with aftermarket sight options for quite a while now. Their product line is pretty expansive and covers sights for handguns in a bunch of different configurations from standard sights all the way up to tritium nights sights. During an event I attended that was hosted by AMERIGLO, representatives from the company announced that they would be rebranding and reorganizing the company to focus more on self-defense applications and provide their customers with a simpler product lineup so they can easily find what they need.

Growing up in Northern Michigan made it fairly easy to get into hunting. As I became older, I always wanted a Weatherby rifle and when I was in high school that dream became a reality. I ended up being able to buy a .300 Weatherby Magnum Ultralight. This year marks the 35th Anniversary of the GLOCK USA headquarters in Smyrna, Georgia. To celebrate, the Austrian firearms powerhouse has released a series of videos and commemorative giveaways. Today the 35th Anniversary GLOCK Watch is announced – a limited release timepiece designed by the GLOCK Precision team. Firearms policy just to our north isn’t as friendly as it is down here in the States. It is no secret that Canada’s gun culture is constantly under threat from multiple angles, so today we have a bit of good news as well as news that might bode well for the future. Utah-based company Virtus Ammo will become the first certified ammunition distributor for True Velocity’s products. Virtus Ammo will bring True Velocity’s composite-cased .308 ammunition, which was recently introduced onto the market, to stores.

With some heartache we report that the iconic Oregon Thunder Ranch itself is on the market. Note that all booked classes are going to proceed as scheduled, and that Thunder Ranch (and Clint) will continue to train students – it’s just the physical Oregon ranch that’s on the market. Whether or not TR is moving out of “the Oregon Outback” is TBD.
