At the NRA annual meeting, we got a chance to talk with the guys over at F&D Defense about the new XAR folding rifle that got me reasonably excited and it appears that many others are reasonably excited as well. I imagine that the guys over at F&D Defense have been flooded with questions about the new rifle prompting them to put together a FAQ to handle some of the questions.

This morning I received an email from Barnes ammunition announcing an ammunition recall that sounds more serious than usual. That said if you have any of this ammunition within the listed lot numbers call the number in the press release below and arrange for it to be returned. Above all, if you have any of the affected ammo don’t shoot it!

It looks like Strike Industries is on a roll right now with yet another product they showed off at SHOT 16 becoming available for preorder, this time it is the Viper PDW stock. It looks like the stock changed slightly from when we last saw it on the SHOT show floor but the concept is very much the same.

Back in April, we told you guys about Starline adding .338 Federal to their product lineup and said that Starline would be offering .300 Blackout brass in the near future. You can read that post HERE if you are so inclined.

Last SHOT show we ran a post about the new Pistol Caliber Carbine, or PCC, that Nordic Components was introducing to the world. The PCC is a lot like several other pistol caliber AR’s, but with an interesting twist as well as a seldom seen feature.

In the first of many new products that Strike Industries now has notified us about, they are now offering the Phantom charging handle in a gray color. For those of you not familiar with the Phantom charging handle, it is an ambidextrous charging handle that uses a hidden spring clip to keep it in place instead of a latch. When the charging handle is in its resting position the spring clip engages the cutout that allows you to get the two ears on the charging handle shaft into the channel.

Gander Mountain was recently purchased by Camping World Holdings (aka “Camping World) at auction. The CEO, Marcus Lemonis, is not only going to re-brand the remaining stores as “Gander Outdoors,” but he is soliciting Twitter for a new logo.

It was just weeks ago one of our own writers told you why “ Keymod Sucks,” but that does not mean the industry has fallen flat and given up on Keymod. It is true that M-LOK is much more popular than Keymod for several reasons outlined in the TFBTV video “ Keymod Sucks – Now with More Proof!” In fact, it was over a year ago that we outlined how M-LOK outsells Keymod roughly 3:1. Nevertheless, there are a lot of fans and advocates for Keymod still out there. I personally outfitted my last AR build with a Keymod handguard so I am not a hater on the design by any means. Many manufacturers are pleased to pump out new offerings for the Keymod market.

The one-of-a-kind LiNQ flashlight/laser system from Crimson Trace is now available for your AK-47 or similar firearms. This new offering will fit any stamped receiver AK-47, but no milled receivers. It also will interestingly enough fit the Springfield Armory M1A Socom 16 CQB. You will also need a section of Picatinny rail (at least 2 3/4″ in length) to accommodate the flashlight/laser unit near the front of the rifle.

The saga that is the financial health of Gander Mountain is nearing a close. Back in February TFB reported that Gander Mountain was rumored to be facing money problems. The rumors apparently were so bothersome that Gander Mountain was prompted to give a public statement. Rumors were put to rest temporarily in early March when they filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. The rumor mill started back up with people believing Sportsman’s Warehouse was the front-runner to buy Gander Mountain. This was proven wrong when Camping World Holdings (aka “Camping World”) bought them at a bankruptcy auction for $390 million. Sportsman’s Warehouse was bidding against Camping World in hopes of purchasing them, but bowed out before the $390 million mark.

Kimber just released a Press Release on their expansion of the Micro/Micro9 series of pistols.

KE Arms, producer of the DMR Trigger, has licensed the manufacturing and distribution rights for the patent pending Sear Link Technology trigger system from M&M Manufacturing. Before this release, the SLT-1 was tested with tens of thousands of rounds in traditional 5.56 AR platforms, .308 AR platforms, 9mm AR pattern blow back carbines, and the SIG MPX.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information released a report earlier this month that lists the number of firearms stolen or lost from a Federal Firearms Licence holders for last year. The FFL Thefts/Losses United States report is short but contains a good bit of information that I thought readers might find as interesting as I did.

At first glance, it is extremely difficult to tell the Remington 870 apart from the Mossberg 590 Shockwave. If the two were laid side-by-side on a gun bench, it would be tough to tell which is which from a distance. Their qualities and features overlap quite a bit, but IN MY OPINION, the Remington 870 TAC-14 holds the edge over the Mossberg 590 Shockwave (just slightly).

With the NRA Annual Meetings going on, all of us expect a slew of new firearms to be announced and debuted, but few people could have guessed that Remington had, for a lack of a better phrase, a “loophole firearm” up their sleeves. The announcement of a tactical Model 870 with a 14″ barrel is quite the surprise especially since it is so strikingly similar to the Mossberg 590 Shockwave which just hit the market months earlier. The new Remington 870 TAC-14 looks to make an impact within this niche category of firearms.

Pete M had the opportunity to see the AT-One at SHOT 2017. If you aren’t familiar, Boyds makes laminate and hardwood stocks for pretty much any platform you could ever want. The At-One stock features an adjustable comb and butt pad, along with rubberized areas, allowing the shooter to really customize the stock to their liking and comfort. Due to the mechanism, it is really easy to your gun to fit other shooters, or for other shooting positions, without tools or hardware, using their “Bring-It” push-button adjustment technology.

We all know that Magpul PMAG s are one of the best options for AR-15 mags, but sadly it took literally forever for the US Military to figure out just that. Not terribly long ago the United States Marine Corps selected the new Medium Coyote Tan PMAGs in the Gen 3 flavor for their general issue magazines. The new MCT colored mags were developed specifically for the US Army in response to their weapons natural signature program and carry over all of the features found on existing Gen 3 PMAGs.

The Franklin Armory Binary Trigger has been a favorite of people looking to make a whole lot of noise and brass without spending the ludicrous amount of money for a transferable machine gun or live in an area where transferable guns are not legal.

As much as people want to shun the FN 509 for being yet another polymer framed striker gun that is easy to overlook the hidden greatness, Brink’s saw the benefit in the new plastic wonder gun. The adoption of the FN 509 by Brink’s marks the first major purchase of the 509 since it was announced on April 17, 2017.

Sportsman’s Warehouse is currently in private discussions about purchasing upwards of 80% of Gander Mountain‘s stores. It is undecided whether the Gander Mountain stores would then be re-branded as Sportsman’s Warehouse locations or remain the same. If Sportsman’s Warehouse were to acquire Gander Mountain at a reasonable price this could be a very valuable acquisition.

It seems that everyone and their mother got their hands on the new FN 509 to develop as many aftermarket parts as they could for it prior to the launch date. This time Apex is announcing an FN 509 trigger with a flat face that shortens trigger reach, the amount of takeup, and reportedly improves the overall feel.

Yet another new holster option in the wake of the FN 509 announcement, this time it is Galco with the new options. It appears that they produced just about their entire lineup for the new FN pistol to include the shoulder holsters that they are famous for.

DSG Holsters has revealed one of the first commercial FN 509 holsters to hit the market. DSG Arms in Fort Worth, Texas are a group of wonderful folks that have dedicated themselves to providing the best possible product for both the consumer and the professional shooter. In that quest to offer the best product they possibly can, they saw a place for a high-quality holster option that was priced at a much more attainable level than the other offerings on the market.

Alex Pro Firearms (APF) is a small AR-15 manufacturer from Alexandria, MN. Recently in 2013, they decided to dive into the firearms market. APF may not be a household brand name when it comes to black guns, but they have a strong hometown backing throughout MN and much of the Midwest.

In a press release issued yesterday, it was revealed that the USCCA has been disinvited to NRA Annual Meeting. The press release comes less than two weeks from the show and cited no reason other than s wild guess as to the NRA‘s motives. USCCA stated in the press release that their best guess is the move was a “strategic business maneuver” because the NRA recognizes the USCCA as a frontrunner in concealed carry related matters.

Previously we have reviewed some of AB Arms’ products on The Firearm Blog and know them to be rather nicely machined parts. Now AB Arms has partnered with Keystone Sporting Rifles to bring one of the Keystone 722 bolt actions to the market with a new chassis system.

FN America is letting us finally tell you about their brand new striker fired pistol. Well, I say brand new, but the reality is this design has been developed for some time now. If you look closely at the internals, you see that the handgun is unmistakeably a very refined FNS. Not a bad thing, the FNS has flown under the radar for far too long.
