BREAKING: Federal Premium Lays Off 200 More Employees; 2017 Total Grows to 310

Exactly one week ago, on October 6th, Federal Premium laid off 200 more employees. Employees were notified of this through group meetings that were held on Thursday, October 5th and Friday, October 6th. The layoffs affect 190 hourly workers from the factory floor and 10 jobs from Federal Premium’s human resources, IT and legal departments who were on salary. All the affected employees were offered severance packages and outplacement assistance.

Colombian Cordova Handguns Might Come to US, Canadian Markets

Representatives from the  Columbian state arsenal Indumil recently talked to Jane’s Defense about the companies direction in trying to market their 9x19mm NATO Cordova handguns for civilian sale in the United States. Indumil is reaching out to various dealers within the United States, Canada, and even Mexico in an attempt to broaden the companies international customer base. Mexico has only a single legal gun store for civilian purchase, so the Mexican option is probably aimed at government or police purchases. However the Canadian and U.S. markets appear to be for civilian purchase. If Indumil does have a successful run in the United States, it could very well be competition for Taurus when it comes to semi-automatic handguns from South America.

FIME Group Reports Only 400 Vepr 12 Shotguns Remain For US Sale

Back in June, we reported that the US Department of Treasury had added Molot-Oruzhie to the sanctions list. As a result, further import of the 12 gauge shotgun based on Kalashnikov’s design as well as any other product that Molot might produce is no longer importable. FIME Group is the sole US importer of Molot-Oruzhie firearms and have reported that their inventory is rather low. They say that only 400 Vepr 12 shotguns remain. After the 400 are sold, FIME says there will not be any more in the foreseeable future due to the sanctions.
