Colt Introduces the Colt Trooper® Patrol Carbine

POF-USA’s Revolution compact .308-caliber rifle, has won Rifle of the Year at the recent Firearms Industry Choice Awards.   Previously reviewed here at TFB, the Revolution may not be the first to execute such a concept, but integrates a whole host of premium features into the package to make an accurate, lightweight .308 AR that should be great for hunting, defense, or shooting sports.  POF-USA’s press release follows:

In the wake of the news that the P320 has failed when drop tested by independent sources, Sig Sauer has offered to upgrade P320 pistol in the wake of the failures. Note that Sig Sauer is not issuing a recall of any kind, just that they are offering a program to upgrade the existing pistols with parts that Sig may have already developed.

Strike Industries has announced that the new EMP base plates for the S&W Shield are now shipping so I guess one could say that STRIKE’S GOT EXTENDOS! Mighty fine looking extendos that look like they could very well be factory if it wasn’t for the SI logo discreetly placed on the side.

Bergara Rifles is reporting that their new B-14 model is in high demand with the current shift in the gun market. What shift? The one where every retailer has put on their try hard pants and is doing their absolute best to move modern sporting rifles like the good ol’ days but are failing miserably.

Yet another rebate to add to the Summer O’ Rebates, this time from KRISS USA. They have committed to give one free Vortex SPARC AR optic to everyone that buys a non-NFA KRISS Vector through an authorized reseller from now through September 30, 2017.

Lone Wolf knows that every one of us Glock owners has looked at their Glock and decided that it just didn’t have enough bling and that they were slightly concerned about the well-being of their extractor as the slide slammed home on a loaded chamber for the 537th time. So what did they do about it?  They rolled out the stainless steel AlphaWolf 9mm extractor for all 9mm and .380 Glocks (except for the single stack G42 and G43.)

Stevens, under the Savage Arms family, has a simplistic, new single-shot shotgun they would like to announce to the world: the Stevens 301. Nothing we have not seen before, but affordability and utility are always a great find in any firearm model and this offers both.

Federal introduced in mid-2016 a hybrid series of their staple Power-Shok featuring all copper bullets aptly named  Power-Shok Copper. Its initial release debuted 4 standard hunting cartridges: .243 Winchester, .270 Winchester, .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. Now Federal has added some heavy hitters with the .300 Winchester Magnum and .300 Winchester Short Magnum.

Every year there seems to be a new industry or consumer favorite color. A few years ago, it seemed like it was olive drab green (OD Green). Last year, flat dark earth (FDE) was the buzz color of choice. For 2017, the trend appears to be “battleworn” finishes. Sig Sauer recently debuted one of their own battleworn finished firearms with a “We The People” 1911 model.

When it comes to mounting optics on AR-15s or any of our beloved black guns, a solid one piece mount is what most of us look for. Possibly the most popular or well known one on the market is the Burris AR-P.E.P.R. (AR – Proper Eye Position Ready) mount. A close second place draws many other brands to mind like the Nikon M-223 (Monarch-223), Leupold Mark 2 IMS (Integral Mounting System) or Vortex Viper mounts. Weaver has been in the optics game for decades, but only now are joining the ranks of these other companies in making a dedicating AR mount.

There are lots of great optics out on the market that could be used for the popular 6.5 Creedmoor, but next to none specifically made for the caliber. Bushnell has finally produced one through their “AR Optics” line of riflescopes.

If you are of the select group of people that still loves a good 28-Gauge shotgun, there is some good news on the horizon. Federal is offering more 28-Gauge loads through their Game-Shok line of ammunition. What you shall soon be seeing available at brick ‘n mortar stores are loads in #5, #6 and #7.5 shot.

While many firearm companies in the last year are having layoffs, consolidation or talk of bankruptcy, Sharps Rifle Company looks to expand. They recently dropped a press release statement through “The Shooting Wire” on July 12th detailing their excited expansion.

Kimber rolls out summer edition firearms every year which usually means more unique or exotic colors in existing models. For the summer of 2017, they pitched the industry a curve ball. Kimber announced 3 new K6s revolver models and a Royal II Texas Edition that will be limited to 800 firearms.

Springfield Armory has just announced the release of four new 1911 pistols in their popular Range Officer series. Dubbed the RO Elite, the new guns each feature a number of upgrades at affordable prices. Served up in two caliber options, shooters can either opt for the best all around pistol cartridge to ever walk the earth or pick 45 ACP. Kidding, kidding. But seriously, the answer is always 9mm.

More and more shooters are trending towards using fiber optic sights because of the improved sight picture. If a pistol you currently own does not have them it is fairly easy to replace them or to find a competent gunsmith that can. HIVIZ recently tweaked their LitePipes for an improved sight picture in both day- and night-time settings.

Steyr Arms has added an OD Green M9-A1 to their pistol lineup finally. Even though they have been using OD Green polymer on their firearms for nearly 50 years on both the SSG 69 sniper rifle and the AUG, they must have just got around to it. I guess late is better than never and it sure as hell looks cool.

If you have priced out professional stippling like the job I reviewed from TXT Custom Gun Works you might be in sticker shock about the price. Don’t fool yourself though, there is a very real reason that they charge the amount of money that they do. OTDefense has been offering stippling kits for DIYers with a few options for tips. The new Deluxe Firearm Stippling kit adds even more options in a convenient package.

Yet another super tempting rebate has been announced, this time from FN America for the FN 509. With all the options for some of the best deals I have seen in the gun market for some time, it sure isn’t making consumer’s lives easier. It is a whole lot cheaper to get into a quality pistol with a respectable number of mags than it has ever been though.

Sometimes a solution is so simple that we wonder, why the hell did I think of that? The Strike Industries AR Stock Stop is exactly one of those solutions.

It seems that Smith & Wesson Shields just don’t stay in stock long at any retailer with the current round of promotions that are currently being offered for Smith pistols. The response has been nothing short of impressive, but that wasn’t enough for Smith, they decided to double down with the newly launched M&P Summer Savings mail-in rebate program. Not only is the Shield eligible for the rebate, but also the M&P full-size pistols (both the original design and the M2.0) and the M&P Compacts as well.

Not long ago, the Remington 700 AAC-SD SPS Tactical was sought after by shooters looking for a highly customizable bolt action with a barrel that was factory threaded. Just about every time a shooter bought one of these rifles the factory Houge stock ended up being replaced at some point with a high-speed chassis like the AB Arms Mod*X or the MDT LSS Chassis.

Back at the 2017 NRA Annual Meeting in Atlanta, we stopped by the Keystone manufacturing booth to check out the upcoming Model 722 PT rifle that they put together with the help of the guys over at AB*Arms.

I like Apex triggers. I also like America. But I never was much of a fan of the Apex Freedom Edition triggers until now. I find that I have an unnatural desire to buy one fo the newly announced blue freedom edition triggers. Why? Because they are blue and look nothing short of amazing.
