Have you taken your vitamins today? As you know vitamins have several important functions for your body. Some say they are almost as important as a daily dose of TFB’s Photo Of The Day, and we agree of course. Today we’re looking at a really happy French Navy sailor with an F88 Austeyr on the Starboard bridge wing of HMAS Perth, during a cross-deck as part of Exercise Kakadu 2022 (KA22). I’ve never seen this kind of paint on an F88 before, have you?

In the Spring of 2018, TFB reported about the new modular Steyr Mannlicher SSG M1 rifle. Today we have two good-looking photos of it in action, with the spotter sitting beside the shooter. The riflescope is made by Steiner Optics.

Photo Of The Day – Every day we present our readers with at least one photo. The subject is always a firearm of some kind, preferably with a muzzle flash or some action around it. But we’re happy with a perfectly edited still life photo as well. Today we have U.S. Marines and Sailors with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit Maritime Raid Force. They have just landed on the beach during an amphibious raid on Singkep Island, which is an island in the Lingga Archipelago in Indonesia. The joint exercise between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command is called Super Garuda Shield 22.

Photo Of The Day: If you’ve been in the Army, you know all about this. The first time you got issued your rifle. Here you can see recruits of the Golf Company getting their M16A4 service rifles for the first time. I’m sure they’re excited (perhaps).

For gun nuts, it’s now officially AUGtober! Off to Austria then, to take a look at what’s going on in Lake Traun, or Traunsee, a lake in the Salzkammergut (Salzburg area). The lake has a maximum depth of 191 meters, and it’s a popular tourist destination, with medieval castles and other attractions. In our Photo Of The Day, we see members of the Austrian Jagdkommando combat divers with their Steyr AUG A3 SF rifles. This bullpup is used by Austrian Jagdkommando Special Forces and uses a 3x optic housing, which is lower than normal to make it more comfortable to use the red dot sight on top. The A3 SF version also has additional side rails, scope covers and an external bolt release.

TFB’s Photo Of The Day. We go back in time, to Afghanistan in 2013. Above we see Spc. Daniel S. Kennedy, from Tuttle, Oklahoma, with 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, as he provides security as Afghan Border Police (ABP) break ground on a new checkpoint, in the Spin Boldak district, Kandahar province, Afghanistan. The ABP moved to the new location to block an insurgent infiltration route. He’s using the Remington MSR bolt-action rifle. The MSR came out as a winner in the USSOCOM Precision Sniper Rifle competition but was later excluded due to non-compliance.

The world is hungry for visual storytelling, and TFB’s Photo Of The Day does its best to keep the feed alive. Today we have live-fire on the menu, from the shooting range at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, earlier this year.

Photo Of The Day and we have probably the first images (on TFB) of Brazilian & Ecuadorian Marines. Above you see a Brazilian Marine providing security during an amphibious landing. This happened during an exercise called UNITAS LXIII in Itaoca, Brazil.

Photo Of The Day: It’s been over a year, so we hear very few things from Afghanistan. These images were taken in 2014, in the Helmand province, and we see U.S. Marines 3/7 in a shooting competition with various firearms. Above you see U.S. Marine Corps Capt. James Covey, commanding officer, Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment (3/7), as his M500 12 gauge shotgun spits fire. The pump-action Mossberg 500 (M500) is made by O.F. Mossberg & Sons and has been in service since 1987. It was designed in 1961 by Carl Benson.

Today’s Photo Of The Day is a photo from the U.S. Central Command that shows U.S. Marines with 5th Platoon, Charlie Company, Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team, Central Command (or FASTCENT). As you can see, there are two spotters and snipers with the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System, in action during a live-fire range operation. According to the caption, FASTCENT provides expeditionary antiterrorism and security forces to embassies, consulates and other vital national assets throughout the region.

Over time, TFB’s Photo Of The Day has become an impressive gallery, with an ever-growing number of images of firearms in all sorts of environments. We’re now looking at images from Titin in Jordan, where U.S. Marines assigned to Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team Central Command (FASTCENT) conduct a live-fire squad attack. The images are from the Exercise Eager Lion 22.

Let’s go to Jacqueville in Cote d’Ivoire, or The Ivory Coast (Africa), for our Photo Of The Day. We see U.S. and Côte d’Ivoire special operations forces conduct a Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET). JCETs like these are intended to enhance U.S. relationships with partner nations by developing and maintaining critical military-to-military connections and improving joint and allied readiness and interoperability.

TFB’s  Photo Of The Day and we find ourselves in Aqaba, Jordan, where Jordanian service members assigned to the Maritime Counter Terrorism Team, maintain security at a pier during close-quarter battle drills. This happened during the Eager Lion training exercise in September 2022.

Photo Of The Day: When USS Carl Vinson, United States Navy’s third Nimitz-class supercarrier, was pier side in its homeport of San Diego, there was a salute to 100 Years of Aircraft Carriers at Petco Park.

Photo Of The Day and we take a look at some of the heroes that make this endless series of articles go on – the photographers. Above you see U.S. Army Spc. Donovon Lynch, a Mass Communications Specialist assigned to the Viper Team at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center. He’s taking photos of paratroopers during Exercise Saber Junction 22 in Hohenfels, Germany, on September 7, 2022.

Photo Of The Day and we have a bunch of action shots from Bulletstorm II, the first Swedish Championship in IPSC PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine). A two-day, twelve-stage, level three competition with over 200 competitors and 30 teams. All the team fees were donated to Ukraine. 

It’s time for another Photo Of The Day, and we can’t express enough gratitude to soldiers and photographers who capture moments like this when the shooting range is lit up by the muzzle blast from rarely seen firearms. In this case, we have the Heckler & Koch G36C in the hands of U.S. Marines and Swedish Marines at the Berga Naval Base, Sweden. And as you notice, that’s not the only H&K in these images.

Today we have a picture of a single-shot muzzleloading flintlock key pistol provided by Bonhams Skinner auctions. This early 19th-century discreet weapon is consigned to the Bonhams Skinner  Early Militaria Collections auction which will be held on September 28, 2022, in  Skinner Marlborough auction house.

Today’s Photo Of The Day is a picture by Tactical Imports Corporation (Canada) showing two Polish FB “Łucznik” Radom 9mm pistols – the VIS 35 and VIS 100M1. The former was designed in 1930 and adopted by the Polish Army in 1936. The latter, VIS 100M1, is the civilian version of the VIS 100 pistol which was adopted by the Polish Army in 2019. The VIS 100M1 has recently crossed the pond and is now available in the USA and Canada.

Today’s Photo Of The Day is a family picture! Above you can see all Sharps Bros lower receivers that have a custom magwell design. From left to right we have the Warthog, Overthrow, Showdown, The Jack and Hellbreaker. The picture is only missing the only normal member of the family, the Livewire.

Photo Of The Day – Today we get a closer look at some tricked-out Swedish Ak5 rifles. “Ak” stands for Automatkarbin in Swedish, which translates to an automatic carbine. This is the current standard-issue rifle for the Swedish military.

Photo Of The Day: Today we have some futuristic-looking images from SK Group’s Meprolight and their Tigon, a hybrid thermal & red dot sight for day & night target acquisition. As you can see, the Meprolight Tigon is mounted on an FN SCAR.

Photo Of The Day and this is the fifth in a series of articles TFB is doing on the firearms used by the Finnish Army. The 9.00 Submachine Gun 2000 is used by the Finnish Border Guards, the Finnish Police and the Finnish Defence Forces. It is otherwise much more well known as the 9x19mm Heckler & Koch MP5, but each country gets to designate its own firearms.

Welcome to TFB’s full auto Photo Of The Day! Shooting full auto is something everyone wants to do, as often as possible. In reality, only a few get to do it, ever. I’ve only shot full auto a few times in the military, and once in the deserts of Nevada.

It’s not too often we have an AK-style pistol caliber carbine in our Photo Of The Day. But thanks to a new (to us at least) star in the sky we have some wonderful pictures to show of the Kalashnikov USA KP9. All of these photos are from Bravo42 Photography, check out his excellent images below.

Photo Of The Day: At the range, where the cardboard targets never give up. They keep on coming wave after wave, in a completely fearless way. Above you see U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jonathan Sutchen, a network administrator with Combat Logistics Battalion 4, Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, as he fires his M16A4 service rifle. The M16A4 is a semi-automatic select fire rifle, with the ability to fire in semi-auto and three-round burst modes.

The year 2022 started with a bang and lingers on, and our Photo Of The Day has never been so diversified. We’ve been from Novosibirsk, driven hunts to the Japanese jungle and we still have several months to go before the year is over. Today we have members of the Republic of Korea Navy Special Warfare Flotilla (UDT/SEAL) and United States Army Special Forces (Green Berets) performing a helocast and MOUT training during RIMPAC 2022.

The number of internet users worldwide will soon reach reach the 5-billion mark. Our world has never been so connected. Great photos can spread like wildfire, but the story and the necessary context sometimes gets left behind. But not in TFB’s  Photo Of The Day. In this Photo Of The Day we have a happy team of U.S. Marines and Naval personnel with the Special Reaction Team, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific. They’re posing for photos during multiple weapons sustainment training earlier this year. The location is Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. Camp Hansen is named for the Medal of Honor recipient Dale M. Hansen. Hansen was killed by a Japanese sniper’s bullet three days after his actions on Hill 60, during the Battle of Okinawa.
