Above you can see the former NFL player Andrew East firing away at steel targets from behind a car during the Special Forces Tactical Challenge at the Miller Training Complex at Fort Bragg, NC. In total, eight teams of Green Berets and celebrities competed with pistols, battle rifles and sniper rifles against time, distance and a realistic combat environment.

POTD: Heckler & Koch HK437 in .300 Blackout

What could be better than the Heckler & Koch HK433? Quite possibly the Heckler & Koch HK437 right above you, chambered in .300 Blackout (7.62x35mm). The rifle is also equipped with a VarioRay laser light module from Rheinmetall and an EOTech EXPS. You don’t hear as much about the .300 Blackout caliber as before, but it is still gaining in popularity with various Police and Military forces as a medium-range weapon due to its stopping power and suppressability.

POTD: Green Berets in Japan

Photo Of The Day: The Green Berets in Okinawa (Japan), moving through ankle-high water during the 4th Marine Regiment Jungle Warfare Exercise at the Jungle Warfare Training Center. During the exercise, they trained forward reconnaissance, terrain analysis, practice using a variety of communication platforms, small unit tactics and patient extraction procedures. As you may tell, some of the photos have been altered for security purposes.

POTD: German Snipers with G22A2 Rifles

Photo Of The Day: We have a close-up of the Scharfschützengewehr (Sniper Rifle) G22A2 with the Steiner M5Xi 5-25×56 riflescope. Accuracy International Ltd. (AI) won the tender to upgrade the existing G22 sniper rifles of the German Armed Forces. The German Army uses .300 Winchester Magnum, or 7.62x67mm in Bundeswehr’s nomenclature.

POTD: SL40 Grenade Launcher Attachment in Australian Army

Photo Of The Day: The SL40 grenade launcher is made by Steyr Mannlicher and was selected by Thales Australia as the preferred choice when the EF88 assault rifle was under development by the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Note that the soldier aims through what is most likely a red dot with a pretty tilted zero due to the ballistics of the 40 mm grenade.

POTD: FN Herstal at DEFEA 2021

Photo Of The Day – We’re happy to see that the life of exhibitions is going back to normal. FN Herstal are exhibiting at DEFEA 2021 in Greece next week. There are no real new firearms to be exhibited, but FN Herstal attached a few really nice photos to their press release for us to enjoy. Their highlights will be the FN SCAR family of rifles, the 5.7x28mm weapon systems, the FN MINIMI and the FN MAG machine guns. They will also show their Sea deFNder remote weapon system.

POTD: The Barrett M107A1 in New Zealand

Photo Of The Day: I guess everyone wants and needs a suppressed Barrett M107A1? If you’ve never seen a suppressor for a .50 caliber rifle, I can tell you that they are huge. If I had the chance to fire any of these systems, I’d probably go for the H&K 40mm Grenade Machine Gun, loaded with high explosive grenades, of course.

POTD: German GunWorks Heckler & Koch MR223 A1 "Keiler"

Those who have been around TFB for a few years will surely remember the G29 Viper project from German GunWorks. They made an exceptional Haenel RS9 in .338 LM. German GunWorks has its roots in various conversions of firearms, which formed the basis of the company even before the trade in weapon accessories and firearms. The first weapon conversions took place on the basis of airsoft guns.

POTD: Polish MSBS Grot & PM-84 Glauberyt

Another day with TFB’s Photo Of The Day sharing great photos from around the world and the world of firearms. Today we have Polish soldiers with MSBS Grot and PM-84 Glauberyt, not exactly the most common firearms around. The FB Radom MSBS Grot is Poland’s Modular Firearm System chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO. In the configuration above it looks similar to the FN SCAR. The Polish Ministry of Defence ordered a total of 53,000 MSBS Grot rifles.

POTD: U.S. Paratroopers in Germany Unleashing Their Weapon Systems

POTD: Latvian Mechanized Brigade with FN Minimi & HK G36

Today we have some really good pictures from a unit we haven’t seen on TFB before: the Latvian Sauszemes spēku Mehanizētā kājnieku brigāde. My Latvian language skills are a bit poor, but it should be the “Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces” translated to English. As you can see, they are using their standard-issue Heckler & Koch G36C s. The standard-issue light machine gun is the FN Minimi.

POTD: Estonian Special Forces Using the HK416A7

The Estonian Special Forces (ESTSOF) are using the HK416A7 by Heckler & Koch. Here you can see them at a shooting range during winter. We had our hands on the “A7” at the Heckler & Koch booth at EnforceTac already in 2018, but it can still not be found on HK’s webpage. Germany’s Special Forces call it the G95.

POTD: U.S. Marines Train in Sweden for BALTOPS

If you have a taste and interest in firearms and soldiering, this is where you’ll find some of the greatest photographers in the world on the subject. Let TFB’s Photo Of The Day be your daily guide and leisure. Above we have U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Dillon, a machine gunner with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, holding security with an M240B machine gun. The event is a tactics exercise for Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) in 2019. The Marines, a part of Charlie Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, maneuvered and assaulted an objective as a company for the exercise.

POTD: U.S. Marine AH-1W Super Cobra Attack Helicopter

Above we have a U.S. Marine AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter flying over the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California earlier this year. It uses a 20 mm M197 3-barreled Gatling cannon in an M97 turret with a 750 rounds ammo capacity, plus whatever you have fitted to the side pods.

POTD: H&K MP7 & K9 in Quick Reaction Force

The World moves faster and faster, and the number of images produced with it. But rest assured that TFB’s Photo Of The Day will keep its focus on firearms. Pictures of French soldiers with the old FAMAS rifles are getting rare as it’s being replaced by the Heckler & Koch HK416F, which was selected in 2016. The first batch of 400 rifles was delivered in 2017, and the order will not be fulfilled until 2028.

POTD: Firearms Training with the U.S. Navy

Do you have a hard time finding a safe and secure place to shoot? Some own a ranch and build their own, some visit the shooting range and some join the U.S. Navy where the sea eventually serves as your backstop. In our  Photo Of The Day, we have U.S. Coast Guards from the Law Enforcement Detachment 104 conducting firearms training on the deck of the USS Charleston (LCS-18), a modern littoral combat ship. Judging from the photos, the unit looks well equipped.
